I am not sure if it is a good idea and/or possible to do, but I would suggest to split it into two items - the facial hair alone and the "shaved" mask.
By default, the mustache and beard would be directly on the class' face, but with the mask equipped, they would sit on top of it (For this, the hair have to be rather thick).
That would open more loadout possibilities and make the reference more subtle.

I'm reworking my old submission "the sinister smile". primarily because I was being dumb at the time and refused to alter it from the original mask. This time around I think its looking much better. When this item is complete I'll remove the old item and submit this one with a new name. The thing is that Pyro in game is never linked to anything dragon-like. so the design doesn't make much sense and while the drawing on it's own isn't to shabby the Typography is all over the place...
My advise (for all it's worth): try to use elements that are present in the game (like the pyromancer's mask for example) and try to align your text better, maybe use a better readable font...
