I only noticed today that you cannot create more than one steam library folder on the same drive anymore.
Why the hell would they take that feature away?
Hasn't that always been the case, at least on Windows? That's what I recall. It's different on Mac and Linux (what with not having drive letters like Windows!) but I'm like, 90% sure it's always been that way on Windows.

Nope. When steam first introduced different libraries, you could have multiple ones on the same disk. It's how I was able to put TESIV Oblivion out of the Program Files folder so that some mods could work.
It's just that they have updated it at some point to remove the ability to do so. I haven't reformatted since then, so my steam libraries are as shown:

As you can see, I've got two libraries on the same disk. I tried doing the same for my brother as he also wanted to play oblivion, but I had to edit a vdf file to get it to work like this.
Hmm. Steam's had the error message: "SteamUI_ContentMgr_DriveAlreadyHasLibrary" "Selected drive already has a Steam library folder" as far back as at least October 2013 (which is when this file first started getting tracked by the SteamDB guys' very useful SteamTracking project), so if it has changed, it's not a recent change.
It's possible you were using a early beta version that wasn't really supposed to be used by the public; RPS published a guide about it.
Can anyone ID these warrior statues in the background?

It seems that Solus devs had enough of Valve not updating their libraries on Linux (It's still using the ones from Ubuntu 12.04!) and decided to do something on their own.

Surprised no one has mentioned the mini dev days next week
Surprised no one has mentioned the mini dev days next week
They've done a number of similar talks with devs all over the world recently, so it's not really big news. I'd say it's very likely they'll give almost exactly the same talk in Toronto.

Fuck VR games, I just want the word on the Steam client rewrite.

Yeah and they gave an update to features coming to Steam and some nifty stats, but those were a few months ago. it'll be interesting to see what has changed since then

Valve is now selling games in my country's currency (Argentine Peso), games like Shadow of War are now priced at $650 ARS which converts to about $37 USD (the game is still $60 in the US store). Pretty amazing to be honest.

Just FYI, Publishers/Devs have final control of what the game costs in your currency, Valve only set recommended prices.

An example would be Injustice 2 which costs $1400 ARS which converts to almost $80 USD. And the "complete" edition costs $2000 ARS which is around $114 USD.
Valve announced some changes to the Steam review system, as well as things they're considering for future updates
What we are changing
Up to this point, we've tried to maintain just showing the simple math behind how we calculate whether a review is helpful or not--the percentage and number of people who indicated a review as helpful. We like systems that are transparent and easy to understand, as they are also easier to believe and trust. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a system that allows a small group to manipulate reviews to a degree that is clearly decreasing the value of Steam for many other players. So we're making two main changes.
Firstly, our system will use a new method of calculating the helpfulness of each review, taking into account the users that are trying to manipulate the system. One way we're doing that is by counting the helpful ratings on reviews differently for users that are far outside the norm. Ratings from users that follow normal patterns of rating will continue to be counted the same way that they have, whereas accounts that rate an excessive number of reviews on an individual game will see the weight of each individual rating count for less and less.
Secondly, store pages will now show the default helpful positive and negative reviews in a similar proportion to that of the overall review score for the game. For example, if the game is reviewed positively by 80% of reviewers, then the ten reviews shown by default on the store page will be 80% positive, showing eight positive and two negative. This should keep the reviews shown on a game's page from being so easily manipulated by a few determined players and should more accurately represent the overall sentiment of the people playing the game.

Still much more to do
There are still a number of further changes we're considering for the user review system. One thing we're looking at, is how review scores on games change over time as games develop or languish, and ways to better indicate how players are enjoying the game right now. We also want to better indicate when players are reviewing issues in a game that only pertain to a particular region (such as server locations), or particular language (such as poor translations). We're also exploring ways to calculate a personalized review score for each player and thinking about how that would look.

The Second Steam Awards huh, wonder if there's gonna be a third one.
The wording for some of the Steam Awards is a bit weird.
I don't even understand what half of the awards are supposed to be.
The Academy wasn't clear enough in the awards description last year. Let's try this again. This award is for the “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” of video games.
Okay...so...a good game then?
I guess this years Steam Event is "Guess how high the person writing the description of these awards got"?
Some stuff it not that bad, like The “Haunts My Dreams” Award is a game you obsess over and can't stop thinking about, but The “Cry Havoc And Let Slip The Dogs Of War” Award makes no fucking sense. I guess it applies to stuff like Saints Row The Third or Just Cause 3?
Thank you Steam for the write-in award suggestion!
