I wonder what Mike Harrington is up to nowadays.

http://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1265921510652460726 tl;dr Steam Direct Fee is US$100. wow what a big change!! Fee still recoupable, per game, 0% probably goes to charity now Valve originally planned $500. Store will look a little different, and they're still working on new algorithms for good games to get the attention they deserve, as well as better features for Curators like game lists Next blog will be a summary and discuss Greenlight shutdown and Direct Publishing launch days. ---- In addition, the latest Steam Client update includes Steam Controller, Big Picture, Linux, and third-party controller changes as well as the ability to confirm microtransaction purchases from SteamVR.
Some are saying this fee is too little and that it won't stop companies like Digital Homicide. On the other hand, there's the topic of legitimate indies just starting out. IMO I think it's should be taken up to $500 so it isn't just irrelevant.
$300 ideally, but at least Valve still checks to see if the game works and is as advertised (?). The question of whether they will check to see if is not garbage. People sort of overreact when it comes to the store being bloated with garbage, but some genuinely good games on Greenlight are still left out of the store. Hopefully Valve weeds out achievement/card bloat games like Super Duper Flying Genocide 2017 while still leaving in simple but interesting games that customers are still willing to pay for ("mobile phone"-tier games, one-week projects, top-down RPG games with good story but destitute gameplay), in turn raking in money for Valve.
I seem to have a problem with steam not saving specifically "generic controller" configs (or any D-Input controller where you have to manually bind every button when you first connect it to steam). basically, steam forgets the changes to the controller configuration after you back out of the config screen. i would make a bunch of changes, back out, go back in the config, and find that it reverts to how it was before. this happens through the config screen in the in-game overlay, in big picture, and through the right-clicking the game in the library. unplugging the internet doesn't really help. i tried both the public/beta versions of steam. there were a couple reddit threads outlining some workarounds but none of them work consistently at the moment. i tried deleting the configuration files manually, but the problem eventually comes up again. if anyone could try to pinpoint the problem or offer any solutions that would be a big help. i really want this gamecube adapter to work.
There is now a Steam app for Samsung TVs
Samsung is adding Steam Link functionality directly to their latest line of Smart TVs. If you are in the United States and have a 2016 or 2017 Samsung UHD TV, we'd like to invite you to help test the Steam Link App, now available as a free beta from the Samsung Smart Hub. The App uses the same streaming technology as Valve's Steam Link, allowing users to play their favorite games, and even spectate VR games on the HTC Vive, wherever they watch TV. During the beta, playback of 1080p video at 60 FPS and support for the Steam Controller are included. For worldwide release later this summer, support for streaming 4K resolutions and additional controllers will be added. Note: Streaming to the TV requires a Steam Controller and a high-quality network, at least 5GHz. A wired network is strongly recommended. Please let us know how this is working for you and post feedback and questions on the Steam Link discussion forum: http://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/
For some reason my Steam Overlay won't pop up in-game, even though it's enabled in settings. Does anyone know of a way to fix this?
Steam Direct launched here's another blog http://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1328973169870947116 Submission Fee was $110, now $134.99, global currency when? :wavey:
Not sure if this is the suitable topic for these kinds of issues, if so please tell me so I can remove this. Basically, Steam takes way too long to start up the log in page. Whenever I turn on my computer steam starts up but this message keeps appearing: and it keeps loading for a long time; lately it's been increasing, sometimes even up to 2 hours before the log in page appears. If I close it and open steam again it still opens that. I tried looking up answers and deleting my download cache, but nothing seems to work.
