all he did was hex on archimedes and a mask then retexture them. it's no biggie since valve won't add it, but it's sad how easily steam users brainlessly vote it up

the geometry is still strikingly similar, it looks like they know a little about modelling so they just changed a bunch of little features. probably expanded it a bit and then repositioned it. check out both creators, both of them have only made 2 items for the workshop. granted it looks like they might be in some sort of visual design class, it seems obvious if you're going to steal a texture you may aswell steal the model too

If it's genuinely a new model, I can't imagine why they wouldn't bother to create a new texture.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I really don't see anything that couldn't be done with vertex adjustment, vertex mergers and knifing. For example, the easiest way to keep it unwrapped to have the same proportions on the texture would be to just edit the original's model, plus the amount of vertices on the belly from the hip to the neck seems to be the same (5 pairs of tris on the outline, separated from the wing by another pair of tris on each side)

if you look closely on Archimedes you'll see white splotches, they're in the same exact space on the raven except a blackish colour

this is a good point, it uses the archimedes texture and the only way is that they're super skilled at texturing to move the texture or they used the archimedes mesh as their base, slapped a few changes and called it theirs.
since they're both uv wrapped the same way, it's then obvious they used the archimedes mesh

Plus, it's slightly suspicious that they went from an item that is rigged to the hip as their first to an item with jigglebones AND facial flexes as their second (it says it has both in the description), especially since Archimedes has both jigglebones and facial flexes, himself. (Archimedes' jaw opens when Medic's does, he closes his eyes gleefully when Medic is happy and "glares" when Medic is angry. The model shown also opens his jaw when Spy talks, though it's plausible that he could have done that himself, too, regardless of the origin of the model.)
Either way, I find it troublesome that the creator claims that he didn't steal the texture and instead effectively copied it to look exactly the same. There is no good reason to imitate Archimedes' wing pattern or speckles since speckles are not really seen on ravens and the wing pattern could have been created in a near infinite amount of patterns that don't resemble Archimedes', yet still makes sense. (Also strange because he pretty much used the same eye color, which again makes little sense)

i'm going to have to disagree. the mesh looks just primitively modified with stretching and resizing. count the edges. for example, 3 rings from eye to shoulder. 2 columns from chest to shoulder. breast ring of surfaces are twice the height to the back half of the same row. the similarities go on and on. for further proof, it's unwrapped exactly the same.

I'm 100% sure these guys don't even give a shit about the model anymore, they just post on things that are slightly fitting into the game. Maybe they think this makes them cool and gives them respect or something...
To be perfectly honest I'm not 100% sure why aren't they allowed to use valve stuff as a base, since, you know, its already legaly belongs to the same company that is going to distribute it, right
I mean, unless there is some sort of ethic codex involved that I'm not aware of, as long as their concept was original it should all be fine
