The guy who made the troll-face actively tries to get money out of it from doing stupid t-shirt designs under some deviant-art promotional thing and hot-topic
The big one that got screwed was nyancat, so many companies figured it was just fine to start printing shirts and products with it on it. despite the fact the creator was pretty much prominent on the internet/easy enough to contact
the biggest "fuck you"" on that was scribblenauts. who payed out quite a lot for the nintendo/licensed characters but proceeded to put keyboard cat and nyancat on there without even asking the proprietors or giving a dime from the game they [b]sell[/b] with them in it
