It's like a Nega-me. I want feedback and don't get any so I get paranoid and have to judge my own stuff. Which I never work on since I get judgemental on my item and deem it worthless, Never to be worked on until much later if a shred of confidence returns.

I have the feeling it puts the community as "this guy made shite, so I'll make shite too because he got away with it!" kind of place. Amongst the quality items, these bubble up and that seems to be the first thing people see when they visit (because it's so bad, it's hard to miss - no matter the page it's on).
In terms of actual models/submissions: Extremely low quality items forming a baseline so many first time modelers (such as that anchor above) don't seem to think "I'm going to improve before I release a model" because they see an equally low bar model and don't have something to work towards, lack of punishment for wasting time (They had the same issue with Greenlight until they shoved in a system where you've got to pay to get your stuff on there) and lack of a need to learn how to make a proper item (great examples being those 'paint ideas' or extremely low quality models because all they want is a self made - this includes stolen models from Gamebanana and attempting to pass it off as their own).
In terms of 'incompatible' items such as that 'nerdz' submission - It's purely wasting time and I honestly don't know what the guy who is submitting them has going on in his head. Does he have this never ending hatred of 'nerds', thinks it's an insult (spoiler: It's not. I had a guy years ago in high school who thought the same. It was laughable that he thought it was an insult) or does he think it's a talking point to say "I submitted stuff to the workshop"? Who knows. Either way, he seems to be setting this precedent that uploading things like this is ok.
Yes. It's easier to 'turn a blind eye' but if you do it for long enough, all you're ever going to get is this crap because there won't be someone there to report/remove the dross. But alas, if it's taken down - it'll just appear again and so will other 'funneh images' like it.
