Black Mesa V6 - 'Not sure about the shotgun'-edition
Well I just finished two more sets of animations so the only one remaining is the Crossbow.
So you will add mod with XEN Update or earlier?
I have a slight concern that it'll be released right before Xen, then the Xen update will have a bunch of under the hood changes that end up breaking it anyway

Welcoming to modding the Source engine, breaking upon release since 2004.

soon™
I hope soon, pretty much this and xen have been what I have been waiting for to replay the mod.
I wounder who's going to win the race, you guys with the classic pack for Black Mesa or Mr Brightside with the Half Life 2 Redux pack

Classic pack wins by default for looking cool.
But the models are both by the same person
but the original HL weapon designs were more fun to look at, like the really chunky shotgun
One thing I'd reeeeeally like to see improved upon is clipping.
It's far too easy to get momentarily stuck on walls and surfaces with tiny one/two unit wide protrusions, like the yellowish metal beams that adorn the walls of those cramped corridors in Residue Processing.
When looking into the map files for this chapter I was surprised that some of these corridors are blocked out with playerclip brushes just fine, but others aren't, as if the author gave up on it or they hit the brush limit or something.
I don't envy the person who would have to do this anyway, seems like a huge undertaking.

I'm not sure if this is an exclusive part of "On a Rail: Uncut" or if its just a part of the standard game but I think the main issue is unchanged by that:

That'd be OaRU. I believe the issue is mainly that it hasn't been updated in a while, so lots of little things like that go wrong.
Hey Game Zombie, is there new hivehand and snark models?
Short answer: no, unfortunately

a pair of fine wires or lines crossing at right angles at the focus of an optical instrument or gun sight, for use in positioning, aiming, or measuring.
the off center grenade is definitely a BM only thing. one could guess it's an attempt to sync it perfectly with what the viewmodel animation shows unlike other games.
The grenade thing is a bug. It's currently fixed on our Xen build.

And this might just be me but I turned off CSM and now I can't turn it back on

The error doesn't appear if I use disconnect to get to a static main menu but it will turn back off after loading a map
The Crossbow zoom is probably getting reworked from scratch with a new approach for the Xen update too. It's pretty old and funkily written. I don't think it's been done yet but we have it as a target. It should fix the weird distortion and skybox glitches, we hope.
CSM has also been rewritten for the Xen update, to an extent. There's gonna be a fair amount of base engine stuff coming with the update.
Yea, that's a typical problem with dynamic scopes (or at least with the one at this tutorial) as it doesn't render right the 3D Skybox as well as produce bugs in maps with it ( env_sun sprite flickering, water in 3D skybox rendering what is being shown at the scope, etc ).
And all because Valve didn't bother to fix/improve ViewDrawScene ( a function that basically renders the indicated scene, either for the player view, or for a camera ):
ViewDrawScene does not work properly on the maps that contain 3D skyboxes. Depending on the engine version, they either won't be rendered at all (even in the player view), or worse, result in clipping of the 2D skyboxes, leaving the sky totally or partially black. To work around this problem, either don't use 3D skyboxes on the affected maps, or make sure the sky is not visible from the places where you intend to use this entity.
However since you guys have access both to the engine and to the last version of Source, you might be able to fix it.
Hey Juniez , Can you make hev suit model like this for MP ?

Happy summer all! We hope that everyone is having a great start to their summer. To celebrate, we proudly present to you our first public screenshots of a Xen exterior. All running real-time, in- game, with no edits.

Unfortunately, as some of you may have already predicted, we are going to need to push back our planned release of Xen to later this year, in December. We know that this is not what anyone would want to hear, but after taking a long and hard look at what we want to achieve, we have decided that this is for the best. We do not want to compromise on Xen’s quality in any way. That said, we consider December to be a do-or-die deadline.
To soften the blow of the bad news, here are some additional tidbits and updates regarding what we have done for Xen so far.
Example of the Level of Detail We Are Going For

New Dynamic Light System
As part of our continued efforts to bring Xen’s graphics up to the best possible standard that they can be, we have upgraded Source to a new deferred rendering system that supports fully dynamic lights! These new “next-gen” lights cast real-time light, shadows and god rays. These won’t replace all the lights in the game, but we can use them in many special cases where we want the lights to be particularly gorgeous. These lights are much better optimized than other Source implementations of dynamic lights, and are more robust.

Not only will this new lighting system help crank parts of the the game up to 11 in terms of graphical fidelity, these will also be powerful tools for modders as well!
Color Correction
We’ve started a color correction pass for the whole game. The goal is to better unify the game’s visual style and to add full screen effects during the more intense sections. Most of these effects will be quite subtle, but here is a more noticeable example.

Weapon Holds
We fixed the soldiers holding the weapons wrong. It took some serious animation trickery to retarget the bones on top of the existing Half-Life 2 animation library, but it worked well once we figured it out. No more hands clipping through the guns!

Thanks as always to you guys, our wonderful community, for your support! As always, we will continue to work at full speed on Xen, and we hope to have more updates, information and media for you guys soon.
motherfuckers
That's probably the better way of crossposting the update actually, so no harm no foul!
We need some green space clouds up in this Xen.
I thought there were supposed to be no xen screenshots?
We need some green space clouds up in this Xen.
Without trying to give too much away...there will be green space clouds, don't you worry. Don't expect the colour pallet to be the same throughout...
I thought there were supposed to be no xen screenshots?
We have been toying on multiple occasions with the idea of a cold release, but once we knew we needed to delay beyond Summer it felt like it would be unreasonable for us to not show some progress and show the fans SOMETHING as a token of gratitude. We are acutely aware of the incredible support and enthusiasm of our fans and we don't want to take that for granted!
