Everything in the long diff (minus what they later removed) is live on the beta branch right now. I have the removed models, as well as every version on steam since launch.

That's probably what it is, just going by the textures.
They'd have to redesign that area of the game anyway, it's all HECU'd up currently. Although it's not out of the question, they redid a lot of surface tension for this update so who knows.
waste of ressources to remake that weird out-of-place laser turret regardless.
Eh, I can't exactly say the xen turret really added much to the scene anyway. You'd have to be a die hard fan of half life to really notice it's absence anyway. I mean removing it from the scene completely instead of trying to rework it does seem a little lazy but it's really nothing to get worked up about. Adding it back in would be kind of cool but just seems like unnecessary work.
I think it's pretty cool when games have a random new enemy late into the game that only appears like once or twice
i dunno it just makes things more interesting in some sort of weird way
Xen is an unpredictable and organic place, wish it had more crazy business going on. Physics puzzles... escort missions... christmas dlc and a water level
I liked the xen turret. It was a nice change of pace, it symbolized the aliens being in full-tilt attack mode and establishes their dominance over the area. Besides, why would Valve go through the effort of making it and putting it there if it wasn't significant?
Well it's just a couple brushes turned into a func_tanklaser so it's not that much effort. These days they'd need a model with special effects textures just to make it unique looking.
The on a rail uncut and other mods should be fixed for this new beta and future versions =/

....Surface Tension Uncut is part of the game now iirc. That was a while back. As for OAR Uncut, it might still work for the mod version.

According to the changelog they fixed the weapon animations for the grunts, so yes.

I would assume someone already found these, but here's a video showing Gman .vcd files from the update, they weren't removed with any of the Xen assets. No voice lines so he doesn't speak but still cool to see the gestures and animation.

Yeah, I miss OaRU and other mods like the weapon placing mods. Try to make contact with the author of the mods, I know TexFamGuy (the creator of OaRU) participates a lot here

I've actually been having a hell of a time getting in-touch with Chon on steam, or anyone on the BM team, for that matter. I'd wait for a bit before trying, they seem pretty busy at the moment.
Why do you need to get in touch with us on Steam? Most of us automatically reject any friend requests made by people we don't know. I always do - I get 5 or 6 a day. I'm very active across all the forums, I'm easy to reach there or even here. What do you need?
I probably won't fix OaRU until the public beta is fixed up and pushed to the live branch. Otherwise, I'll break OaRU for the live branch, because it needs to be recompiled to our new BSP format, which the live branch can't read.

Mainly just wanted to ask if you'd be able to swing having individualized per-surface impact sounds for the crowbar to replace the generic melee_hit ones.
Can I ask a favor? Probably no one will want to do so because of probable future changes to the animations the BM team probaly will make. But I have a HECU model that still has the old animations, one of the models I managed to fix (in parts), the other one (marine_02 I think) seems bugged, because strangely, it does not haunt me wanting to shoot me, just stands in a posicion and shoot, Yes, try to flank but only by the sides, not front position, and do not chase me if I'm hiding somewhere like the version (Marine_01, I think) does.
I think I broke something porting the animations =/
If anyone can help me port the animations or just teach me (really a tutorial, I'm suck in modeling and animations, I'm good with textures) I will thank a lot.
