I'm gonna almost feel sad covering that beautiful gun up in alien blood.
It's beautiful, but my only problem is that it doesn't remind me of hl1's revolver at all. I am only saying this because it seemed like it was a theme you were going for.
I dunno, it seems pretty on-point to me. The three notches along the top of the barrel are really small and hard to see, and there are tweaked details like the additional notch on the side or the lack of the laser sight on the bottom, but it's a fair reimagination to me that still actually looks like a revolver and not a cartoon gun.

The color is unnecessary, I can already see it's the same revolver, but feels different. Anyway, both Half-Life games use perspective tricks on the viewmodels
I think it looks great as is, a nice blend of the old and the new without the more ridiculous elements (color/proportions) of the original. Definitely gets my approval
Well the revolver in the HD pack is significantly less blueish, and I don't think the original revolver was meant to be that blue either.

Valve has always modeled weapons... oddly. To this day I'm still not a fan of how guns look like toys in CS;GO

some of the weapons in hl1 have modeled in perspective "correction" to simulate a lower fov but the amount of correction applied is so high that when you try to recreate it with the fov field in bms you have to push the model out far enough for it to break the lighting
I don’t mind it being changed to look more in line with the original, since that’s the entire premise of this pack, but I appreciate the extra details for some flair and I hope it’s not overpoweringly blue (I’m really fond of the model initially shown). With the increase in fidelity comes a certain precedent for realism that doesn’t necessarily make every element of the 1998 model appropriate for a newer one (even one designed specifically to capture the essence of said model), like the odd perspective tricks or materials

MY guess is that they've accidentally hard-coded it and won't/(don't know how to) remove it or they're saving it for the Xen update.
Either way there is already a large list of Bugs that need fixing, so we'll just have to wait.
So apparently now you can run at full speed while carrying things, and crouch walking is faster with always run on
Also you need to press shift every map load to re-enable it

Huh, am I the only one who gets aliasing issues when I come into contact with the new indoor dynamic lights? Also before you ask this is with full AA. I dunno, it might actually have something to do with the deferred rendering system.

They also ninja modified the HEV character at some point last year. I remember the helmet looked very ugly at some point, but now it's flawless.

Is the the viewmodel being lit like that (not sure how to describe it, "screenspacey"?) a glitch, or is it something that you can't get around in Source?.
Great to see the suit be "metallic" when hit with bullets! I forgot the team made that stuff work with Alien Grunts
