It goes to show that even Berkan himself is disorganized. Specifically, his brain is disorganized.
Kevin Sisk is doing G-Man, right? Man, Kevin Sisk really voiced a lot of things in Black Mesa. The security guards, some of the scientists, the vortigaunts, the MP5 grenade...
He also did the "Unforeseen Consequences" line in the 2008 Black Mesa trailer.
What.
I think the Eli recasting was called off for some reason. Can't remember the specifics.
He's definitely not eyeless. Look closely, he has grey irides and black pupils. https://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/scale_medium/0/24/12141-hl_nihilanth.jpg
Posted this before, but it's has the best preview of his Gman impersonation. 31:00 "It's time to choose..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFSZ3ACu_64
He's more intimidating with the hole for a mouth. More alien and strange.
Yeah, not really a fan of the generic evil toothed maw they went with here. The puckered butthole mouth was far creepier.
Gman voice actor.....
Also, unless it's included in the texture and normal maps, they forgot the three eyes on the Nihilanth's forehead.
New Nihilanth looks like an angler fish mouth, which to me looks real goofy. I wish they'd have kept the original hole.
I'm still kinda bummed over them not using that neat new walking animation of the zombies, where they have their arms spread. They simply just used the existing ones from HL2. http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/5/4384/zombiegrd_beauty.jpg
I wonder what the teleporter to Nihilanth's lair will be like in BM's Xen. That part always struck me as being kinda out of place. It seemed like it belonged more in Quake or something like that since it's so overtly evil and gothic looking compared to the rest of Xen.
Is there a reason they didn't use this? The Zombie's HL1 walking animation was always more intimidating imo and this one looks like it'd be a lot more like it.
it's most likely a single pose frame for the render. I doubt it was a full set of animations
That being said, they were at least working on some custom animations for it at one point https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNUTvYDluRY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stPVIkaISF4
They had it working. Pre-release gameplay videos and the official trailer had the walking animation used.
Imo that custom animation just looks terrible with the way the sleeves are modeled.
Wouldn't hurt to redo somethings, I don't know if the zombie went through many iterations before they landed on this one,
3.6 Gb update just hit me. Is this it boys?

So the new engine isn't really working well for me since my laptop doesn't meet the minimum requirements and a lot of stuff got borked. Ah well, at least I made it this far lol. Still excited for Xen!
Yeah it’s just the beta branch moved to the main branch
Will Eli's voice remain like that until Xen?
I sure as hell hope that they're gonna fix the Nihilanth's face in the actual release, it's such a horrid design choice and I don't understand what they were thinking. I think the head is probably a little too bulbous as well but that's nowhere near as much of an issue of that face.
I almost have to wonder if the Nihilanth's face will be facially animated for it's spoken lines
Yuck, it should've looked much closer to this http://pictures.mastermarf.com/blog/2009/090911-nihilanth.jpg
