Assuming were still a ways away from the update, now would be a good time for "balance changes part 2", as balancing is honestly what im excited for the most from this update
they made note of how they received a lot of feedback from people after the initial balance changes post, so im curious to see what they've done with it
I just hope they don't go through with the YER changes, that was a fun niche weapon.
anything to keep me from possibly getting hurt eating an indigestible substance
At this point, assuming that there really is no chance of the update being this week, I'd like to have a small blog post by the TF Team apologizing over this whole mess, like they did on the first day after MyM's launch with Casual's disastrous first impression. I feel like their silence over the situation is what caused the most harm here.
I don't think an apology is necessary as they aren't responsible for Dane's tweet (even though I am still confused at why 9/6 was a thing).
However, I do agree with others that something passive like a "Weapon Balancing Part 2" blog post would be a good way to help us decompress and actually give us something new to discuss in a more constructive way while we wait for the update.
A lot of you need to take a step back. Maybe the date on the whiteboard was just a target and something came up and now they've missed it. The reason Valve doesn't give dates is because nothing is certain, there's always something that can come up last minute and delay things. There's no reason for the TF team to apologise when they've done very little to cause this, and remember the people getting hyped over this are a very niche part of the community overall.
You're doing yourself no favours by getting hyped over something unofficial. You've waited this long, another week or so won't kill you.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if at 10th of October (assuming there were nothing in between now and that) we get Pazer's second ever post with the same fucking thing but this time Jill is just literally tells every single one of us to fuck off (in some funny way) and then nothing were happening that and following days.
. . .
Is that ok that I want to put my own post in a box because I don't know who to be angry at?
weapon balancing part 2 would make me almost as happy as just getting the update
The TF2 team is not at fault here, they never made any formal announcements or hinted that something was happening today.
I was watching Dane's stream the other day and he mentioned (I think he said Eric said this?) the TF team bit off more than they could chew for the update, so all we can do is have patience.
take a break
I don't understand why so many people seem to forget how things work with valve
anything to keep me from possibly getting hurt eating an indigestible substance
blend into smoothie
burn, snort the ashes
10th anniversary update will likely be the last update I reckon
The TF2 team is not at fault here, they never made any formal announcements or hinted that something was happening today.
I think thats part of the problem.
Why would they leak a date to community figures about an update that they worked on for a year. Honestly why would you believe that?
Because dane is a credible source, If he says he saw something while visiting I trust him. I'm not claiming valve was intending to get dane to leak a date, but it's clear that valve had something in mind for 9/6, if even internally, and has shown that they were aware of his tweet, and still chose to not clarify whether it was what everybody expected it to be (release).
Or, I was right from the beginning and it got postponned from the original release of today. Regardless, this game's dissapointment has dropped yet another step.

another week or so
:v:

Yeah because then you wouldn't have to eat paper
I wasn't! That's the thing! I'd given up until the Dane leak gave us something to actually consider. I'm pretty sure there was at least internal testing or something today, else the date wouldn't have been on display like that.
But I wasn't hyped anymore! Not until four days ago. And they watched us get excited, they watched us get eager for a content update, and they waited until the very last second to tell us it wasn't happening yet. How much do you have to fucking despise your customers to do something like that?
For the love of god
The devs are a lot of things but moustache twirling, cock spinning rich evil guys isn't one of them
So you're saying you'd prefer a Broken MYM repeat of an update that might not even be done over a functioning update? You're treating valve like they're spiteful neighbors, not as an actual company.
No! I just wanted them to fucking say something.
I wanted them to communicate and say, hey, this date isn't what you think it is, we're still hard at work on the update. They knew that their most enthusiastic fans were in a frenzy, or at least hopeful, at the idea of getting a blog post today. Of getting something from them.
Instead...instead we got a dismissive reaction gif, less than two hours before the time we would be expected to give up. People who browse Facepunch and r/tf2, the people who were all worked up about this day, are TF2's biggest fans. Are the people who love this game the most, are the most passionate about it, who really want to see something good happen for once.
And instead of being cool and just letting us know from the get-go that nothing was happening, they watched. They watched us get worked up like this. A few of them even communicated, but conveniently ignored the blaring NINESIX speculation, which for some raised even more alarm bells that This Might Be Happening.
And when they finally break their silence on NINESIX, we get a disdainful, dismissive message alongside a fucking reaction gif. That's what I'm angry about.
The update's not today? Whatever. No blog post? Sucks, but whatever. I'm used to being disappointed by these people.
But it's almost like they actually despise us now. Like, I don't know what else to think- do they think it's funny? Do they think it's funny to watch their most dedicated customers get worked up, excited and then disappointed? Because that's a cruel fucking joke if I've ever seen one.
let us take a moment and reflect on ye olde Valve Time
10th anniversary update will likely be the last update I reckon
Heavy was promised to receive an update some time after the one Pyro's getting. I'd be legitimately shocked if they canceled that.
The idea of Valve fucking with us or hating us is just stupid too in a practical sense. "What's the best way to sell a product/service? Why of course! Pissing off the people giving us money!"
It's probably just some internal stuff that's going on within the team or things are still in development. Valve first and foremost is a company. Which normally would sound bad, but in this case, they're trying to use whatever resources they can to push a product to us. If they really were sitting on their asses all day or trying to fuck with us, i'm willing to bet Gabe Newell would have them fired pretty damn fast.

You are way too angry and don't understand how Jill works at all.
I think thats part of the problem.
I am unfortunately very used to the radio silence now from the TF2 team, so it no longer surprises or bothers me.
.....
Ok, it does still bother me, but what can we do?
I know the lot of you have been waiting eagerly for any signs of a update but you have to remember, this is Valve we are talking about and you should always proceed these predictions of update time with skepticism and doubt, When the update comes and surely we all know it's happening someday. So carry on with your day and when the update flashes on your monitor. Then you can dig into the update alright?

"working to finish it as soon as possible"
"plenty of time before Halloween"
not speaking against this circulating false date
developing it for 9 months in total silence and another 4 with extremely limited communication
replying to earnest questions with quips and gifs
It's not one misstep.
I think thats part of the problem.
This, so many people come out of the woodwork to denounce people who feel annoyed by Valve because of this. No, valve is not responsible for what people post about their trips there. Yes, had valve been competent at communication in the first place this incident would have never happened. Yes, if valve had been competent at communication they could have stomped out this rumor in the days leading up to it.
Valve isn't necessarily at fault for people being let down by this rumor, but they are at fault for making people have to cling to rumors as their only chance of information. Anybody who feels personally offended that nothing came of today needs to take a deep breath though.
see you laddies next week :surrender:
angery posting
It's time to step away from the keyboard dude.
Like honestly at this point you're making yourself look like a knucklehead right now.
You are way too angry and don't understand how Jill works at all.
You still think something could happen tonight?
You are way too angry and don't understand how Jill works at all.
I don't give a fuck how jill works.
If Jill "worked" we might have an update by now. Not only that we're customers. Their jobs rely on us.
I don't care if he's trying to be funny. He's coming off as a stuck up prick. Looks like a /b/head to me.
maybe theyre just trying to beat uber update's release time
You still think something could happen tonight?
I mean, it absolutely could happen tonight. We're not outside the possible time range at all.
I also don't think that when Jill shared a shitty gif he was "deconfirming" NINESIX. He was just shitchatting. It's what he does.
That said, it's clearly unlikely that anything happens today.
