I had a TF2 shower thought this evening. Valve have re-released many of the rare stranges, in one form or another. They straight up re-issued the Kritzkrieg, bring its price down to "reasonably not insane" from its previous "more than a decent unusual" range. The did the same with the Caber, but also nerfed the ever loving shit out of it to the point of "who cares, I'd rather use a Pain Train at this point." The re-released the machina in an arguably cooler form with the Shooting Star (as long as one doesn't mind the weird-ass killstreak sheen going sideways instead of lengthwise on the weapon.) The Holy Mackerel of course has its Strange Festive variant. The same is true for the Hunstman. The Widowmaker got re-issued as a strangifier, which is even better since we can have Strange Genuine and Strange Collector's Widowmakers. Battle Engies rejoice. There's the Strange Festive Sapper and the Strange Snack Attack. None of the above are what I'd consider painfully expensive. That leaves the Fan O' War, Holiday Punch, Mantreads, Bacon Grease (Frying Pan), Invis Watch, Splendid Screen, Original, Construction PDA and Loose Cannon. None of these have been re-released. The three meme weapons are not very high priced. Bacon Grease is kind of spendy, but strange pans are quite a bit cheaper. The Invis Watch and Splendid Screen are downright reasonable. The Loose Cannon and Original a maybe a tad on the high side, but for dedicated splodey class players, they are not out of reach. Engie Mains have a rough go of things if they want to complete their loadouts. The PDA only has one flavor and it's not cheap. The Gunslinger is downright brutal. I think it's the most expensive strange weapon in the game. There are no reskins of it, and Valve have cheerfully avoided re-releasing it in strange form since March of 2012(!) I paid a shit-ton for my strange one in the spring of 2014. I don't really regret it because I've had a lot of fun with it in the last 3 1/2 years, including putting unnecessary spells on it. I do feel bad for engies who want a strange robot arm. Valve did rebalance the Gunslinger a few years ago to make it less spammable but now it's possible to repair a mini with the Rescue Ranger (which is one of most sadistic things imaginable on a KOTH map.) It's also no longer possible to store a critical punch on it by hitting teammates then switching weapons. That's probably a good thing, but boy was it fun to do. Maybe Valve haven't re-released the strange Gunslinger as a "tribute" to Star_, who hated the weapon almost as much as he hates TF2. (Not really.) The real answer of course is that the TF2 team are greatly overworked and understaffed. They haven't released a regular CRATE (not case) with non-tiered strange weapons in it 450 days. If they ever do release a new crate, it'd be easy enough to include the Gunslinger and PDA as 1% strange drops (the same as the current Kritz.) Of course, that's not bloody likely to happen during the Pyro update, is it? I guess I'll have to wait for the next Engie Update, which will clearly follow the Spy Update, which will follow the Scout Update right after the Heavy Update....
So, 9 months of 2017 without a Major update (Seeing as there is no chance of it coming today or tomorrow) And we have only had 17 updates so far, the lowest ever (Going by the official tf2 website) Only 3 months of 2017 left
Based on all the research I've done and scraps of information that have come into existence, I'm wagering that nothing directly update-related will happen the week of October 10th, or any of the ones before it aside from the usual bugfixes/the medals patch. If I'm wrong, a random person to rate this post informative wins two keys and a hat signed by yours truly.

Not sure if anybody there takes a damn about this, but a few hours ago an unusual Mask of the Shaman was unboxed from a series #3 crate, which was considered a retired(non-unboxable anymore) demo "misc" (? It's not even) for YEARS. They were always overpriced af (burning flames is 2300 keys, kek), so, hopefully, they will crash into shit now. I am so happy about this, because it is by far the WORST hat in the entire game, at least for me.

Another night, another dream Dreamt the TF2 short that came out was about Scout and Pyro driving a train through the most complicated series of tunnels devised by man. Think Airplane! but more laid-back. Also, for some reason, one of the team had a little brother who was just Scout 2.0.
-ihadbetterjokes-
if we don't actually hear anything by or on October 10th, I honestly won't know what to think anymore. besides maybe "Valve as a company has completely and utterly failed TF2, and unless this update is the greatest of the greatest ever, this game no chances left of survival". really hope I never have to taste that level of despair, but this is Valve we're talking about, so...
Entering October with no update and no word on the update, what a fucking joke.
I still can't believe that they had the balls to say "Yeah, vote for what class needs a rework lol" then chose two classes that desperately need reworks. Like come the fuck on just do both quickly.
hey jill give us a non-update-update please say something funny
Does Jill know this thread exists? I mean the MUS threads got killed,so there might be a chance that Jill doesn't even know that this is a "spiritual successor" to the MUS threads.

They are too shy to say that they changed plans.
Yes, you should just tell if you don't want to do it. I won't berate, i promise.
"Hey guys how do you still remember that thing that we've promised you last year? Haha, funny, we did not expect that joke to catch that much attention! So yeah we were just kidding about everything, there is no update. Enjoy the shit that you already got. Thanks, - *I don't want to offend anyone*."

I never liked it.
It looks like a furry pop tart
So is the update going to just silently die off, and ten years we'll get a letter from Jill retelling the short's plot in the form of a letter from Pyro?
So is the update going to just silently die off, and ten years we'll get a letter from Jill retelling the short's plot in the form of a letter from Pyro?
In MMPHs
So is the update going to just silently die off, and ten years we'll get a letter from Jill retelling the short's plot in the form of a letter from Pyro?
Real talk, we will probably get the pyro update, but from that point forward, we will likely only see minor patches and re-hashed events. If it has taken 450+ days for a major update here, how long is the next one going to take? I suspect this will be one of the last ones.
Remember, they're working on the Heavy update probably right after the Pyro one.
Yeah, they said that, but Valve also said they were going to release HL2 episodes in a monthly manner, and TF comics every other month. Rather than going by their words, it seems more realistic to go by their track record. The gap between major updates that has lasted this long is pretty indicative of what the gap will be for the heavy update. That would be long enough to have it scrapped entirely.
They should add some new paints. Also a medal/badge slot.... I wish :(
Remember, they're working on the Heavy update probably right after the Pyro one.
No wonder it's taking so long! If they don't release the Pyro Update, then they won't have to make the Heavy update!
No wonder it's taking so long! If they don't release the Pyro Update, then they won't have to make the Heavy update!
Plot twist, they are releasing Pyro and Heavy update at once.
