Real talk, we will probably get the pyro update, but from that point forward, we will likely only see minor patches and re-hashed events. If it has taken 450+ days for a major update here, how long is the next one going to take? I suspect this will be one of the last ones.
As long as i remember, people have been saying this game is going to die. That only happens when nobody at valve pays attention to it. I suspect we live long with this game, atleast they will do the occasional crate update once or twice a year. Theres tons of content in the workshop, to live off with few years with minimal valve made content added. But at that point where they simply start doing the community only updates, we're in thin ice regarding development. I would gladly see more frequent updates to this game, sadly they at Valve dont see the need or have time to produce them.
The game is turning fucking 10 in a few days. Hell, the store is now 7 years old. Of course the game has more past than future, just enjoy what we may get. It is not like Valve in general is being productive after all.
I really just want to send an email asking "whats the holdup guys"?
Thinking about this possibly being one of the last updates ever for TF2 and Valve barely focusing on game development now, Team Fortress 3 is probably never happening at all is it? Man the comic still isn't done either, almost every single game mode has been abandoned in development and updates, it really does feel like the series is not making it past "2" like all things Valve.
this won't be the last update, they will keep working on the game, but it's possible that by the next update half of you won't care about the game anymore
I really just want to send an email asking "whats the holdup guys"?
I suggest you start working on nudes
plot twist how would you react if they actually had the heavy update done and its actually bundled with pyro and this is why its taking forever
Let us hope this update is actually received well enough that we get to siphon a few more Valve employees here and there to increase the TF Team's overall size and maybe pump out more content faster giving the game something of a "second wind". But hell this game is so old it would be more appropriate to call it a new era.

My theory is that they had some unforeseen setbacks, barely managed to get the update done by the end of summer, but found they didn't have nearly enough content for it to deserve the "biggest tf2 update ever" label so they increased their scope but then there were more setbacks and- 5 years later there is no update, Jill leaves Valve and posts about it on his blog describing it with genderbent mercs, claiming it's all fanfiction.
plot twist how would you react if they actually had the heavy update done and its actually bundled with pyro and this is why its taking forever
That... still doesn't explain the timespan at all. Like I can't stress, 450 days (TODAY MOTHERFUCKERS) is an obscene amount of development time for anything,
don't worry it'll come eventually guys
Week 64. Give it up for Week 64
Well they did say ages ago that they will decide if they will do anymore major updates based on how well the Pyro update does
They never said that.
plot twist how would you react if they actually had the heavy update done and its actually bundled with pyro and this is why its taking forever
yeah that's what I said
plot twist how would you react if they actually had the heavy update done and its actually bundled with pyro and this is why its taking forever
Then the war would've been pointless
Then the war would've been pointless
As long as Heavy's is day 2 and Pyro is day 1 it would still be "later" :v:
Yet another hat drop came through my "mailbox". [t]https://i.imgur.com/R0dhDwY.jpg[/t] It seems these are becoming more frequent.
Then the war would've been pointless
I don't think they ever cared about miniscule things like that.
Yeah, they said that, but Valve also said they were going to release HL2 episodes in a monthly manner, and TF comics every other month. Rather than going by their words, it seems more realistic to go by their track record. The gap between major updates that has lasted this long is pretty indicative of what the gap will be for the heavy update. That would be long enough to have it scrapped entirely.
True, but keep in mind we aren't only getting the Pyro update, but also Jungle/a new Campaign/Matchmaking improvements. Even if the Heavy update also takes a long time, I don't see it taking as long if they don't stuff it to the gills with content like the Pyro update has been. EDIT: Not to mention, if the delay keeps up, we might also get TF2's 10th Anniversary and Halloween thrown in there as well.
plot twist how would you react if they actually had the heavy update done and its actually bundled with pyro and this is why its taking forever
i mean, the WAR update included things for both demo AND soldier, and gave soldier the gunboats for winning. the sniper vs. spy update (while not technically a war update) included weapons for both classes as well, and the update page spanned 9 days before being released on the 8th. it's a very real possibility

Removing the Sniper would be a good update. That class needs a real overhaul, he's the least fun to deal with imo.
plot twist how would you react if they actually had the heavy update done and its actually bundled with pyro and this is why its taking forever
I don't think that's gonna happen mainly because then valve would've just made the war completely pointless and that's gonna leave a number of people a bit miffed also I just generally doubt that they're gonna go through that much effort when all they've promised is the pyro tat and some maps with vines and shit
Removing the Sniper would be a good update. That class needs a real overhaul, he's the least fun to deal with imo.
I sure do love getting air blasted repeatedly followed by a 1-hit flare punch.
I sure love being immolated by some gas-mask donning asbestos breathing maniac and seeing at least two medics healing a sniper with JARATE.
I sure do love getting air blasted repeatedly followed by a 1-hit flare punch.
Just use the shotgun or pray. I agree though that is really annoying to deal with, Pyro being able to combo like that is insanely annoying. No other class can do stuff like that.
I sure love getting random critted by a f2p force a nature scout when I just defended the cart from 7 people and the scout caps.
Then the war would've been pointless
nobody cares about the war either. at the end of the day only the end product / results matter the vote was a little throwback game that valve attempted in order to convince us they still do playerbase-wide events (they don't)
I sure do love getting air blasted repeatedly followed by a 1-hit flare punch.

I sure love getting random critted by a f2p force a nature scout when I just defended the cart from 7 people and the scout caps.
can we agree that this whole game is bullshit and takes no skill and move on?
Pyro/Jungle is supposed to be campaign 3 and a pretty big deal. I'm banking on it replacing the Smissmas event like Tough Break did and running from Dec through April. Scream Fortress will probably be similar to last years unless they took time away from the Pyro update to work on it.
