the merasmus classroom SFM short that was canned
This one?
the merasmus classroom SFM short that was canned
Thanks, I remember now. Watching it again, I really wonder how much of a hit it must be to work on a bunch of content only to have it scrapped later. I know they reuse a bunch of stuff, but it seems super demotivating to me.
At this point, hell, I would be happy with a Highertower halloween map. Would be hilarious.
At this point, hell, I would be happy with a Highertower halloween map. Albeit it would take about 7 years to delve into the core.
Albeit it would take about 7 years to delve into the core.
People always talk about games being not realistic enough, It'd probably take 70 years to delve into the Earth's core with the kind of cash the Mann brothers are tossing around.

One dude just made it over the weekend and uploaded it.
It must be really, really weird having developed content months ago that you can't talk about, and don't even know when, or if, it will be added.
It must be really, really weird having developed content months ago that you can't talk about, and don't even know when, or if, it will be added.
That is all of Valve 100% of the time.
It must be really, really weird having developed content months ago that you can't talk about, and don't even know when, or if, it will be added.
You dont get paid for talking, you get paid for doing it, even if it never gets released. Theres propably tons of content for TF2 that has been scrapped over the years from reason or another.
It's a shame we'll never experience the euphoria of the Face Stabber--unless, of course, you decide to play with interp .5.
If something i want changed in the update, it's the matchmaking system and random crits... and comp mode... aaaaand lots of other things...

Old Merasmus voice was 100% better than new one. New voice sound like he lost his balls.
Old Merasmus voice was 100% better than new one. New voice sound like he lost his balls.
The new voice is the Merasmus Announcer voice. While the old voice is when you fight him.
It's a shame we'll never experience the euphoria of the Face Stabber--unless, of course, you decide to play with interp .5.
Ohko from the front has to be the most no-fun concept to deal with.
I actually talked to some of the TF team about this when I was at Valve, apparently it wasn't meant to be official in any way. One dude just made it over the weekend and uploaded it.
Wow, that's crazy talented of them to have only made that in a weekend for fun.
This one?
I miss new Halloween villains every year; Zemphiah Mann's ghost, The Headless Horseless Horsemann, MONOCULOUS, Merasmus and his undead Army, the Skeleton King and his army, they all added so much more life to the game (not to mention what most of them did for the overall story... except for the Skeleton King, that guy was just kinda there). Freak Fortress or vs Saxton Hale just doesn't feel the same.
This one? video thing
Wait, this was supposed to be an official video that got scrapped? I always thought it was just some cool SFM video made by somebody on his/her spare time.
Honestly an MvM mission centred around the final wave being the giant mutant bread would of been hella sweet.
This one?
Shame they didn't release character model such as this merasmus or miss pauling ( or god knows whatever they worked on ).
Wow, that's crazy talented of them to have only made that in a weekend for fun.
I remember some podcast or something by Makani, who now works at valve saying something like someone at Valve doing an SFM from scratch in a week to finish. Thats crazy talented indeed if he did that as a weekend, could be the same one.
 [thumb]http://www.sourceop.com/hell-met/mvm_ghost_town0012.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://www.sourceop.com/hell-met/mvm_ghost_town0001.jpg[/thumb]
Would be been awesome if it was real. Fighting waves of bread mutants sounds like fun. Make it a survival mode.
Just for some clearing, here is a quote on Valve's current office state; "Did your family ever move? Did you still have boxes in the hall months later? Now imagine a family of 100s moving into a house that's under construction." So things may be slow for a short time, I'm in the middle of a move and it's just two people. That hasn't stopped my living room to be the home to 100s of small cardboard boxes. When asked if the entire office is pitching in to unpack, I was given the response; "Yep"

I'm wondering if this can be seen as material that rules out this week, however I have strong doubts of that.
Who did you get that quote from? I'm wondering if this can be seen as material that rules out this week, however I have strong doubts of that.
Regardless of where the statement came from this is a pretty accurate picture of how large moves go. You don't just pack up your stuff, move it, unpack and instantly get back to work. You need to set up your file servers, snaps, get work spaces in order, all kinds of biz. It's not out of the ordinary for all departments to help each other get their stuff square. If the building is still being worked on this could make things pretty rough as they may be missing ports/wiring in some areas. This could take some time. My dev team of less than 50 took a week to move buildings and get back to work due to technical issues and equipment moving. In fact with Valves "Move your desk where you want" philosophy the move could be a pretty confusing mess.
Can they hire movers to unpack stuff?
Can they hire movers to unpack stuff?
I'm sure a billion dollar company has done that.
