Regardless of where the statement came from this is a pretty accurate picture of how large moves go. You don't just pack up your stuff, move it, unpack and instantly get back to work. You need to set up your file servers, snaps, get work spaces in order, all kinds of biz. It's not out of the ordinary for all departments to help each other get their stuff square. If the building is still being worked on this could make things pretty rough as they may be missing ports/wiring in some areas. This could take some time. My dev team of less than 50 took a week to move buildings and get back to work due to technical issues and equipment moving. In fact with Valves "Move your desk where you want" philosophy the move could be a pretty confusing mess.
Well, TF2's devteam is less than 20.
Can they hire movers to unpack stuff?
I'm also very sure that the movers definitely put everything back the way it was. Very sure:doghidden:
Can they hire movers to unpack stuff?
Sure, but you are still in down time while they are moving stuff and being directed where to put it.
Well, TF2's devteam is less than 20.
VNN mentioned in his post that he was told everyone is pitching in as a whole. So even if the TFTeam finishes quickly they will be helping other teams unpack as well.
It must be really, really weird having developed content months ago that you can't talk about, and don't even know when, or if, it will be added.
pretty sure that's one of the main things valve employees and workshop creators have in common
Can they hire movers to unpack stuff?
Valve doesn't hire anyone if possible. I'm sure this event is no exception.
VNN mentioned in his post that he was told everyone is pitching in as a whole. So even if the TFTeam finishes quickly they will be helping other teams unpack as well.
This is why I am asking for the direct source. Perhaps there is an exception made for the TF Team for this week or something like that. We don't know if this quote is coming from someone from the CS Team, or the Janitor. EDIT: Anyone that goes for the easy "From the Janitor? Then we have conformation from the TF Team!" joke will be put on a list
Ugh, how long can they delay this update for whatever reason?
Ugh, how long can they delay this update for whatever reason?
Indefinitely. Realistically, until whenever the team believes it's ready. When that is, they won't know until they get there.
If they'd just say 'hey guys it's coming out before november / december' I'd be a lot happier inside. Because the main thing that troubles me now is that I have no actual clue what has been delaying them!
I've cemented in my mind that it wont arrive until around the same time that Tough Break did. If it comes out sooner I will be pleasantly surprised, if it doesn't I wont be disappointed.
If it hypothetically were being ported, would the tf team role it out slowly with a separate branch? Dots 2 reborn?
Where the hell did we get that "plenty of time before halloween" farce anyway? Some valve email?
If they're so adamant at not telling us a date or estimated time, the next best thing would be weekly blogs on what they completed for the week. I don't give a fuck about spoilers, it'd give us insight.
Where the hell did we get that "plenty of time before halloween" farce anyway? Some valve email?
I believe it was something the TF team said it in an email to ics if I remember correctly.
I believe it was something the TF team said it in an email to ics if I remember correctly.
Yes and i wish i would have never posted that. Just fueled the fire.
Ugh, how long can they delay this update for whatever reason?
Every time someone complains about the length of time it's taking to be pushed out, it is delayed 24 hours.
Where the hell did we get that "plenty of time before halloween" farce anyway? Some valve email?
im pretty sure they were secretly being snarky and meant next halloween. those monsters
It was Jeep
Yes and i wish i would have never posted that. Just fueled the fire.
It's not your fault ics, i wouldn't feel bad about that. The hype fire consumes anything it thinks it needs to, and valve shouldn't have said that if they weren't ready. Valve is to blame here, for having no sense of priority or deadlines as well as the community, for being so desperate for anything that they hype themselves up to toxic levels over nothing.
Every time someone complains about the length of time it's taking to be pushed out, it is delayed 24 hours.
"I do hope you don't release the update already, it's too soon!" /furiously winks at Valve
optimismpost; the update is ready they just didnt want to push it right before a big move and not have time to fix any post-update bugs
Also VNN, what happened to your proud Source 2 announcement? This isn't supposed to be taken as a taunt, but I'm legit curious.
Maybe he realized it was a baseless claim.
Maybe VNN got into Tekken 7 now and he's Taunt Canceling into his next claim: "The dev team is actually rolling their desks into the next office as we speak. last one has to patch mannpower!"
sad thing is that most likely, the update won't have less bugs than any other update they've released in the past the longer they wait, the more content people expect, and the harder it will flop
Would like to mention the last tf2 update was on AUGUST 3RD. They better be really close to finishing this update. I'm getting tired of unbalanced casual matches.
I do not expect anything this week or next week. Pessimism has turned into complete doubt and disbelief the update will ever release now. It's been over 450 days, this has been a very long wait.
Would like to mention the last tf2 update was on AUGUST 3RD. They better be really close to finishing this update. I'm getting tired of unbalanced casual matches.
Two months with no minor updates beside Workshop files? Holy crap. All this is reminding me what Kaplan said about communicating with people. Like, they don't talk about a lot of stuff happening right now on the company because as soon asthey speak, everyone would set in stone that the info given was happening. I guess they learned their lesson developing Warcraft. Point is, I still insist that Valve should have never publicly asked for feedback with the whole Balance Change blogpost. I can assure you the update would be already here if they just playtested the changes with a little group of people (those who can afford a trip to Valve's offices), release it and then make changes, like the used to do in the past with new weapons.
TF2 team has skipped 3 seasonal updates, and that is halloween, smissmass and summer; if it isn't released on 10th anniversary, then i don't really know anymore, this is only logical date you could argue that they're aiming for, but if they miss even that day then we'll truly have no possible date to hold on to. By skipped i mean that they've reduced the updates to complete minimum, with the only exception being during summer, where we haven't got even a tiny bit of new content, not even another case with random hats.
:toxx: update will be out on or before october 10th (midnight est) otherwise i accept the perma. i lurk mostly anyways.
