Their current problem is that tf2 exists on linux, which can be incredibly difficult to develop anti-cheat for
why do I feel like this is our diretide except the TF2 community hasn't done its equivalent of spamming volvo's facebook account i'm not saying that needs to happen but is there some stock option on the NASDAQ that's "TF" that we can buy and then sell for $.02 cents to make it TF2
All I want is for them to put in a better anti-cheat system. If they released the Pyro update with only a new anti cheat system (without any rebalances or comp changes, just a better anticheat system) I would honestly be fine with it. It's a big problem. I get so anxious when queuing up for competitive, because I KNOW there's going to be a cheater in the game. All I can hope is that they're on my team, or that there's a cheater on both teams. Side note: The report system does nothing. I've reported several cheaters several times, nothing. There's this one dude who posts anti-Semitic posts, has a picture of Hitler as his avatar, and even has screenshots of his cheating settings. Nothing has happened to him.
Reporting players in casual gives them a cool down for a fourth of the year, that was updated. But you're right no, steam in general doesn't have machine learning or enough content controllers to do anything about the floodgates of toxicity that get reported every day
So imagine a feature or piece of content added into the update. It's not a bug, and its use is intentional. Now think of that thing as the worst thing the Team could do with TF2. What is that for you? For me, it would be a move away from the community, like remaking the server browser in a way that makes community servers ever harder to find properly.
Assault rifles and iron sights
Making heavy even more stationary in any way
But they already did that with the Brass Beast.
But they already did that with the Brass Beast.
But at least that's just contained to one weapon that at least has some upsides. And it sees a bit of play too[sp]In MYM[/sp]
Paid for sprays that work on Valve servers exist in CSGO so I'm guessing we'll see those in TF2 as well. Unfortunately the CSGO ones are limited use (50 uses I think) so if they bring them to TF2 I hope they're unlimited use.
Suck for me, I enjoy making sprays for a hobby. Not even sure I'd like it if I could make money off them, since I generally draw for free when I get requests too lol. Sucks though that sprays seem to be a fairly lost art though since majority of the servers seem to have them disabled that I run through.

So, less than 30 pages left. Lets hope the next thread is dedicated to discussing the released Update. :dead:
Scenario : Valve sells TF2 to Blizzard.

Got a new motherboard and CPU and Steam refuses to finish downloading TF2 even though 100% of it is done :vs:
Kinda crazy. I know this thread can move fast sometimes. You think it will close before the update lands?
If it hits next week for the Anniversary, I expect the last few pages of this thread to be "OHMYGOD SOMETHING'S HAPPENING" and "IT'S HAPPENIIIIING". Then the first few pages of the next thread will be the same and BOOM Update hits. If it doesn't hit next week, it might even take all of the next thread for all I know. :(
Got a new motherboard and CPU and Steam refuses to finish downloading TF2 even though 100% of it is done :vs:
Yea, Steam does that sometimes. It might even start downloading it from the beginning.

This thread is so bored of the drought that it's gonna transform into a gym now. This is how far a year of waiting takes people. Closer to good health.
Holy crap, the battalion's backup is one of the most underappreciated banners in the game. If an enemy soldier is running buff banner or an enemy medic is running kritz, you can completely shut them down, and it makes you a lot more tanky to boot. It also makes an amazing alternative to ubers for pushing sentries.
If I'm tired of sentries I always run backup and direct hit.

[sp]Which is basically guaranteed to happen[/sp]
And now imagine how much more lenient people would be were there to be an open communication rather than dropping the largest content drop in the game to ever release overriding what will probably be over half of the existing content without giving a single forewarning other than an mentioning a portion of the weapon rebalances. And now let it sink in that the developers lurk these very forums, and will read this message while proceeding to not change anything, for reasons summarized as something something just not our way something something.
overriding what will probably be over half of the existing content
This particular bit is silly, it took 10 years + a long original development time to add all the content there is now. I do agree about the communication though.
I wouldn't say they check forums as much as most people believe. Perhaps a 15 minutes every 2-3 weeks. But not more than that.
This particular bit is silly, it took 10 years + a long original development time to add all the content there is now. I do agree about the communication though.
It's an exaggeration but really I would say a paradigm shift of turning the game into a competitively oriented one is a fairly fundamentally large amount of content to be dropping without proper communication. One of the classes is getting overhauled in its entirety, and every class is having any percent between 10% and 70% of their entire arsenals rebalanced. And that's only what we know, completely excluding any potential changes to the formats or maps which we know are being tweaked.
I think the annoying thing is that if a weapon end up being broken or something along those lines from the update, it would take them months to years to even consider changing it, like they always have. Remember how long the backburner took to get into its current state now.

My favorite thing about the Backup is to pop it and wander out on to the battlements on 2Fort (on an all-talk server) and begin verbally abusing the enemy snipers. I often get a completely unwarranted assist or two this way. My LEAST favorite thing about it is fighting a Black Box/Battalion's Backup soldier who has a Krtiz medic up his ass on the very same server.

Looking around the net it seems like almost all talk, positive and negative, related to the jungle/pyro update has died off. When your player base has given up on your huge update that is a bad sign.
