It's funny how you can rule in singleplayer FPSes on highest difficulties and totally suck at multiplayer. Team Fortress 2 in particular proves that it's not at all about quick reflexes and mechanic knowledge, but about using inter ear ganglion.
Looking around the net it seems like almost all talk, positive and negative, related to the jungle/pyro update has died off. When your player base has given up on your huge update that is a bad sign.
I believe that's an over reaction. It's mostly how we've had no official information or possible leaks to discuss about. There's a limited amount of "gibbe updaet plis" a community can have for a single update.
Show me an SP FPS where you have to rely on "quick reflexes and mechanic knowledge", rather than clever positioning and proper resource management?
DOOM 2016
Show me an SP FPS where you have to rely on "quick reflexes and mechanic knowledge", rather than clever positioning and proper resource management?
Serious Sam for one. Resource management rarely comes into play if you are good with your shots and positioning - well, yes, but you can't apply it without having a rather good reaction time. From half a hour i played Painkiller i get the impression that it's the same Hey, i could be wrong, but it's the only way i can explain the fact that i crack Doom, Serious Sam, Half-Life, Blood etc like peanuts on highest difficulties, and struggle to keep up even in respective games multiplayer modes, let alone things like TF2, CS, or Rising Storm
so this series finally started competitive 2fort... thought I'd never see the day
Doesn't count. D44M is repetitive as hell, with little to no variance in strategies you have to come up with. It was shit until the bitter end, IMHO.
How to tell when someone played on normal, it's like you don't even rip and tear.
so this series finally started competitive 2fort... thought I'd never see the day
We used to play 2fort and turbine back in a day on ETF2L. Just saying.
My favorite thing about the Backup is to pop it and wander out on to the battlements on 2Fort (on an all-talk server) and begin verbally abusing the enemy snipers. I often get a completely unwarranted assist or two this way. My LEAST favorite thing about it is fighting a Black Box/Battalion's Backup soldier who has a Krtiz medic up his ass on the very same server.
Back up is pretty fun it's strange how rare it is to see it in play though.
I really don't like how after browsing the community servers list for different game modes i've noticed a lack luster of servers popping up. Also i've been wanting to play the jungle maps for a while since the update is probably gonna come out after North Korea blows us into smitherines, but moving onto another topic. What is actually happening with all this waiting. It's kind off bad for players to get this treatment from a AAA videogame company. I can't put my finger on what is going on to be causing all of this. On the topic of updates, when do you guys think that mvm is gonna get a new update? I've been playing it for a while and it seems to be pretty dry on updates.
And now imagine how much more lenient people would be were there to be an open communication rather than dropping the largest content drop in the game to ever release overriding what will probably be over half of the existing content without giving a single forewarning other than an mentioning a portion of the weapon rebalances. And now let it sink in that the developers lurk these very forums, and will read this message while proceeding to not change anything, for reasons summarized as something something just not our way something something.
They don't read these forums rofl. Perhaps jill comes by to troll us like neato or answer tech questions, but do you really think they have time for that? What kind of world-class game developers who works for valve would lurk around places like these the whole time, only to make mind-numbingly bad decisions during updates that not even VNN can make sense of, like we've seen over the past 3-4 years. If they read these boards only to either completely ignore the feedback or do the exact opposite, what's the point. They might as well not be here.
Combining the Jungle and Pyro Updates was a terrible idea. More content at once isn't better than the same amount of content but spaced out. Imagine if they had already released the Jungle cosmetics/maps/shorts, announced preparation for Halloween and told us that Pyro would come at Christmas time. A load off everyone's minds and content to play in the meantime.

I have slightly bigger hopes for this monday, or tuesday. They'll update the game with toth medals, so there will be an update for sure, although it doesn't have to be the update we're hoping for.
Let's have a discussion about what options you're gonna use with the new Choose your own adventure campaign. Assuming they allow you to pick the rewards (skins or cases, or possibly something else) and pick the classes/gamemodes you're going to do them on, I'd do the following: Skin rewards, defense classes, A/D or Payload maps It'd give me some nice variation, considering that the 3 defense classes play very differently from one another, and I mostly play KOTH or 5CP. I also like getting skins rather than cases.

Just something other than a gold stamp that sits in your inventory and takes up space.
Fyi I went on a community server with that sign I made a week ago and no one understood what it meant. Even when I explained it.

4 days until more disappointment. I hope no one is getting their hopes too high at this point.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8BWKXeqLuI&t=0s https://www.twitch.tv/valvenewsnetwork
Wow it's really a downer seeing the community getting this depressed. We just gotta make peace with the fact Valve has changed and it's never gonna go back to the old days of good game development.
imagine being someone who's worked on team fortress 2 for the past 19 years that'd be wild

It's sad to realize that every popular game on Steam are now forcing out Item and micro transaction updates. I miss games that didn't shove items to your face. It's a sad scheme. Make a good game > Get a good playerbase > Release good updates > Release Items > Get people to buy them > Abandon the game and release new items monthly.
I think the annoying thing is that if a weapon end up being broken or something along those lines from the update, it would take them months to years to even consider changing it, like they always have. Remember how long the backburner took to get into its current state now.
You whippersnappers should be glad the backburner wasn't implemented with MYM. When it was implemented it gave Pyro 50 extra HP, making him stronger than Soldier.
Tyler's lost it in the stream.
Tyler's lost it in the stream.
It's sad but he's right, Valve doesn't care about us :(
It's an exaggeration but really I would say a paradigm shift of turning the game into a competitively oriented one is a fairly fundamentally large amount of content to be dropping without proper communication. One of the classes is getting overhauled in its entirety, and every class is having any percent between 10% and 70% of their entire arsenals rebalanced. And that's only what we know, completely excluding any potential changes to the formats or maps which we know are being tweaked.
Nobody's having 70% of their arsenal rebalanced other than maybe pyro, and that's obviously an exception because he's the main focus of the update. Out of actual confirmed balance changes they're working on we've got 3/15 for Spy, 20% 6/21 for Scout, 29% 3/25 for Soldier, 12% 2/17 for Sniper, 12% 2/13 for Medic, 15% 9/20 for Heavy, 45% 1/14 for Engineer 7% And two classes with no confirmed changes. The closest is Heavy with just under half of his weapons rebalanced, and of course that's only if you include the changes to all the miniguns which aren't really focused reworks that actually try to fix those guns, and are just broad-stroke changes that won't really be meaningful for Huo-Long, Brass Beast, or Natasha. It also includes the Panic attack which nobody with a brain is going to equip on heavy anyway. But I mean your main point is "we need to be able to prepare ourselves for these big new changes, and Valve isn't giving us the information we need to do that". Now I can certainly see where you're coming from and I agree, especially with respect to potential changes to Casual, which would change the experience for vast majority of the playerbase, and the pyro update, which we're completely in the dark about and will likely have big implications for every single person playing the game from casual to the highest levels of competitive. What I don't find as compelling is using all of the balance changes they've told us about so far as examples of this, because this is the one front on which they've been extremely good about communicating with. They've literally got them in a list on the blog right now. We've known about them for months. Some people have even gone and used custom weapon mods to try some of them out already. Of all the places to be concerned about communication, this is not one of them.
it won't be long until we can all collectively say
Last week, I tweeted to Mike Morasky regarding the VR boxing ring soundtrack that was released and whether it was the project he was alluding to. He just now responded. The project he was working on has yet to be released. https://twitter.com/MikeMorasky/status/916466556384583680
