Now I think the update will take the place of Scream Fortress this year, would anyone even be opposed?
Been a while since i've been here. Any of you guys have anything atelast anything about the god damn update? Please send help.....
If there is a blog post tomorrow, it will read something like this:
Happy 10th anniversary Team Fortress 2 fans! After 10 years of mercenary mayhem, glorious frags, and incredible community-made content, here we all are, celebrating an achievement which we never would have expected to be celebrating in a million years-or should we say 10. [Unimportant filler stuff]. We're just as hyped as you are for a major content update, and boy oh boy, do we have one for you this year. [Other unimportant filler stuff]. Look forward to seeing the update Soon™.
So I guess I was right?..
Literally everything I said was in the post in one way or another
Hope you're all having a blast people.
After all this time they better add banana bay.
Sounds to me like they plan next week, but don't want to fully commit in case something happens.
I can't really think of what they'd consider to be a "Mammoth update"
Source 2? Huge class updates besides Pyro? A combination of weapons, maps, and fixes?
I guess only time will tell.
That blog post exists in a paradoxical state where it is simultaneously more than nothing and less than something.
Valve truly is getting experimental with their next update.

I don't think a major update in early 2017 was too crazy of an expectation to have early this year, especially since Geel had visited Valve and was told they were working on a major update for late 2016. I don't think any of us could of imagined it would take so long.

It wasn't a too crazy expectation to have back then. They are pointing out the fact that Flurry has been in "this is the week" mode for a year pretty much.
At least be glad that he isn't slipping into clinical depression like most users see when the update doesn't arrive on time.

Of course you're setting yourself up for disappointment by having such high expectations but being overly pessimistic is just as bad if not worse.
And both attitudes can affect the rest of the community in their own respects.
so, when the update finally does drop, is there any way of knowing whether or not new hats will have craft numbers, or if they'll have to be unboxed instead? (or both?)
If it's in a case it's not craftable unless there a glitch in which case they are very expensive

with almost every major update comes an economy breaking bug, i wonder what will happen this time.
I'm not bothered that we got yet another empty handed "we're still working" post. I'm bothered that they can't be bothered to provide anything at all to keep people satiated.
New valve is just flat out unfun. No secret links, no secret images, the closest thing we get is use of the word "mammoth" which given the known jungle theme provides very little in terms of furthering community discussion.
Remember how the chat used to be called MUS? That didn't disappear just because people went off topic, it disappeared because there's nothing to speculate anymore. It's either all known or unknown. There is no such inbetween to be found anymore. And unfortunately, we live in a time where it's more unknown than known. I'm not even asking for another weapon blogpost. Just a blurry polaroid picture of the mercenaries in a jungle. Just some coordinates that lead to somewhere in the amazon. Anything.
i miss the tobor

You misunderstand, most people currently feel nothing, not clinical depression.

Keys will somehow become craftable

Well to be fair the way they word that blog post the update could be next week.
Or they could mean that it will be ready by Christmas....

Somehow the blog post managed to put this thread on the breaks. With this few new posts and views I thought nothing happened.
I guess it's good that they're trying to mitigate expectations but at the same time it's really unfun. We don't even know if we'll have a Halloween update.
Well, I called it. Another generic "we're still working on it" blog post and the obligatory "yay 10 years" message, with zero update-related leaks, teasers, anything.
That was a big ol' sack of nothing. On a better note flurry/blackavar, can the next thread be some kind of mammoth-related pun? You're sitting on a gold mine here.
someone give me another decal tool so I can update my sign with a mammoth
also dont forget to check out the gameplay tip at 2:50

I might be in the minority, but after how long we waited, I just want information upfront without any teasers, countdowns, ARGs, etc.
Normally, I would agree with you, but not when our last major update of substance was back in July 2016. :v:

more like dumb and dumber
to (senselessly) add confusion to the "will the TotH medals be shipped in a separate update or with the update," lange (co-founder of TotH, distributor of the medals) is away on business for a bit. I was asleep on his couch the day he left for the airport. I forgot to ask if the scripting on his end was done.

I kinda hope we get an update this week with the TotH medals along with some teaser posters for this update in map spawns like we got for Christmas 2013 and Invasion.
The update will feature frozen mammoths inside the jungle map, and the Pyro will be able to melt this ice to send the mammoths off charging at the other team.
"Boy am I glad it's frozen in there and we're out h... hey what's the enemy Pyro doing?"
The reason it's been taking so long is because they've been programming incredibly complex mammoth AI. IT ALL MAKES SENSE!
My guess is that the update will come either next week or in two weeks at the most. Just glad that the TF Team said something today.
