It's not that TF2 became default test asset pack, it's that TF2 always was a guinea pig for Valve ideas. Only before they did it in-game, and now they left core game alone.
They've always reused assets from their old projects. TF2's always had a shitton of HL2 stuff in it, especially sounds.
There's nothing "funny" about it.
dunno, hl2's stuff being used in tf2 doesn't feel as insulting as tf2's stuff in that vr thing, many source games also share hl2 sounds and such obviously anyways and the hl2 assets tf2 uses aren't major things, majority of tf2's stuff are original assets.
just seeing the """forgotten dead game""" stuff slapped on the ""new cool thing"" feels bad, it may be me overreacting but eh.
Plus, TF2 borrowing from HL2 was when both were actively developed games.

TF2 truly doesn't have any massive updates in development atm

Seems like an extremely minor thing to get upset about. Valve's line of thinking is probably like "hey people like tf2 lets put some tf2 stuff in vr thatd be neat" and not "hue hue lets rip these assets from that old broken game and nobody will notice cuz its dead". If anything it proves that they still care about doing things with TF2.
So I think someone may have tried to scam me out of my unusual.

[t]https://i.imgur.com/Nu6BetN.png[/t]
Honestly I'm naive enough that I was willing to go along with it for much longer than I should have. In fact, I would have continued if he hadn't gone offline immediately after that last message.
Items never need to be verified, if you are asked to add someone else to "verify" an item it's a scam 100%.
You also were against someone who faked a lot of infos on that "mod profile" that it would be really easy for unaware steam users to get scammed.
If you take time to verify the "moderator" profile data.
http://steamcommunity.com/id/76560198029647111
You can clearly tell they are not a mod or whatever, real moderators on steam have a silver star badge, this guy doesn't.
Here how the steam mod badge looks like:

And steam mods will never ever verify an item.
That fake mod profile is impersonating a steam rep admin:
https://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198029647111
What is scary there, is that the fake mod has this steam profile link: http://steamcommunity.com/id/76560198029647111
So you could say this is the same person, it's the same id, but it's NOT, the fake mod uses a custom URL
A real URL with steam profiles ID looks like that one:
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/IDHERE
The imposter:
http://steamcommunity.com/id/76560198029647111
The real steam rep admin:
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198029647111
This one is really tricky, if you don't pay attention, you would just copy the 76560198029647111 id from the custom url, check steam rep and find out said person is a steam rep admin but they are not.
My advice is:
Analyze everything on someone's profile before trading with them, you also have to remember NO steam rep admins or steam moderators will ever ask you to trade your items in order to verify them, so take time to read everything on their profile and double check, don't fall into their trap, and stay safe~
Edit: what would be great if everyone here go on that fake mod profile and report him, hopefully they get banned and the custom profile URL can never ever be used by someone else
I wonder what they'll do with Scream Fortress. If the update does launch next week that's pretty close to Scream Fortress and I doubt they would want to skip Scream Fortress since it usually brings the highest concurrent player counts of the year. I suppose they could always launch Scream Fortress on the 31st.
Of course if the update doesn't launch next week who knows what will happen.
I want to be optmistic about it and say that it will be shipped with the "Mammoth" update. Was checking tru past updates and they packaged Smissmas alongside Tough Break at the end of 2015, so yeah.
My hope right now is for Valve to already activate Haloween mode. Couldn't spend a lot of time on the past 3 events so I would love to jump into those right now.
Also, what is happening to the Saxxies this year?
Damn, dude. I just saw the saddest thing. https://www.gametracker.com/search/?query=doublecross

The issue here is not that there are only two servers running DC, it's that one of the most infamous pay-to-win servers in the TF2 is thoroughly beating the only legit one.
If anyone needs me, I will be cashing out and uninstalling TF2.
Yeah, I was pretty suspicious as soon as they mentioned a Steam moderator but I was willing to give benefit of the doubt until the scammer absolutely HAD to get me to add him and do a verification. The vague nonanswers as to why this was necessary put the final nails in the coffin, especially since I had already linked him the item's history on backpack.tf, and I knew for a fact that it wasn't duped because I unboxed the thing.
I installed enhanced steam a while back for this reason and it has their steam rep right when bringing up their profile, as well as easy to access buttons to steamrep and bp.tf

that's pretty common.
MvM servers with godmode and infinite money are always super popular while the ones with a need of challenge and skill are left empty. Same logic everywhere.
And let's not start with achievement idle servers...
It's actually kinda fun going on one and destroying the players farming kills on their stranges on afk players, it's unbelievable how terrible their aim is.
I got banned from one for pretending to be an afk and suddenly shifting to killing them repeatedly.

I know this may come as a shock to you, it being a cult map and all, but Doublecross is is actually a PvP map. :P

"thoroughly beating"
there are 7 players
in fact this is a much preferable situation to when p2w servers were commonplace and gave people viruses en-masse

you missed the point of that mvm mention entirely
there's nothing like easy benefits on gameplay that brings all the boys to the yard
it's why 30waves is so strangely popular in some places and why donator bonuses exist
May I ask why is Valve moving into a new office?(sorry if this was asked before)

So that they can employ more people, or give Gaben room to expand his knife collection

Is this official, 'cause I thought people being hired for Valve was low and people were retiring more so than joining

The relevant number here is not the current number of players, but global ranking.
jesus christ why is furry pound the only stock map rotation server that's both sv_pure 0 and has players, that's beyond sad
My page monitor went off but nothing happened. Weird.
Damn why am I daydreaming so much, I'm waiting so much for an update i'm starting to imagine a lot of neat things the update could get.
I was thinking... What if the "campaign" of the pyro update is going to be free?
I mean, it is just like a "first campaign" that everyone can get into for free and that lets you unlock weapons in unique and untradeable quality.
This way, you give a new player a way to have a taste of a campaign before going for a paid one, a way to have fun by imposing an objective, a way to gradually learn each class in all its shades and a way to get weapons without using the obsolete system that is crafting. (And the official store that sells a Kritzkrieg for €1,70)
This way an hypothetical "Halloween campaign" could also absolutely co-exist with this permanent campaign.
But this is just a dream.
I really hope they add my fav ctf map (ctf_sawmill) back to casual ;(
I miss you sawmill, please come back :(

Valve is like any other company, people leave and other people get hired.
If the update doesn't come out next week we all should email Jill the definition of imminent.
If the update doesn't come out next week we all should email Jill the definition of imminent.
You have to punch it through the valve time converter first for an accurate measurement
Well, "imminent" is basically the same as "soon" but a little bit more dramatic.
"Hey team, people keep using the term soon™ to poke fun of how we have a tendency to ship things late. I know we kinda brought this upon ourselves, but we should probably use another word on the blog."
"How about imminent™?"
"Great idea, crabwalk rocketjump! Publishing the blog post now."

I'd imagine it more like "we said it was soon like 5 times already"
"guys it's soon, like actually soon this time"

Is this the one that was recently outed for tracking personal info? Or was that another one?
Please TF2 team, make my year--I need something to look forward to.
