Well, if their usual development cycle is anything to go by, I'm expecting more stuff like they're doing now. I'm not a game developer whatsoever but it seems rather obvious as a simple observer that many players would prefer valve do smaller patches once a month than one/two giant yearly updates. As to why they haven't just gone to smaller updates yet nobody knows I suppose
They're most likely in the belief that we want big updates and we dont mind waiting since player counts do not decrease in long term stats during this time. They have no deadline - its done when its done. But i'd rather take 2-4 smaller patches in a year than wait a big update for whole year.
In a sharp change of subject... Are you saving up duplicate weapons to Craft the fabled new weapons? If yes, where are you focusing your priorities? I've been building up duplicates for everything and every time I get 3 of the same weapon I trade them for those I don't have, focusing on all the Pyro weapons first! (also, woo page 120 and post 200)
I'd either buy them off the market or wait for them to drop, that's what I do.

I've quickly learnt that without crafting weapon drops they quickly add up...should be set.
ftfy
Yeah, It's so easy that It took me almost 800 hours on soldier to be somewhat good at rocketjumping.
Easiest classes are either Heavy or Demo imo. Both of them just focus on spam and having a pocket Medic at almost all times. Soldier is well rounded but his slow mobility helps balance him out, and rocket jumping does take some practice and knowing the terrain/tricks of each map to get around quickly. He can also deploy buffs for your whole team, so playing Soldier doesn't always mean being right in the front, hit and run to build meter is also a sound strategy. Ever since they put mark of death on the Escape Plan it's easier to die as Soldier.
playing soldier and calling yourself a tf2 player is like playing acoustic guitar a couple times at a family christmas gathering and calling yourself a musician
Soldier slow mobility
what
are we done with the circlejerk of "one class main shitting on the other class they never played" yet?
On paper, soldier looks very balanced and fair. Like, there are no hidden moves, no unfair mechanics, no overpowered/underpowered stats, but under the surface of skin me and every single one of you have this feeling. Feeling of bullshit when fighting them. Doesn't something tell you when you enter the server and fight them for a poing "something is wrong here"? I don't know what exactly it is, maybe a combination of factors, something much more subtle than weapon stats, that gives them an advantage in any situation. It's even more difficult to pin down since every class in TF2 varies in usefulness from waste of server slot to god among men, depending on situation and skill of person who plays it. As correctly pointed out before - there is a reason why everyone plays him. He's not easiest class to play, and not even the most accessible, but he's least demanding to be effective. Somehow soldiers manages to have the least downsides in any given situation But since the majority (i.e. soldiers) decide what things are, it's just me rambling.
playing soldier and calling yourself a tf2 player is like playing acoustic guitar a couple times at a family christmas gathering and calling yourself a musician
Playing Spy, Scout, Demo or Pyro and calling yourself skilled is like learning a few chords on guitar and calling yourself a pro. Quick Edit: No, i am not a Solly main. I play Pyro a lot, and when I'm not playing Pyro, i play any of the 8 other classes
I think you people forget that the reason why 6s classes (soldier, demo, scout) are seen as more fun is because when you go 1v1 with them in their optimal range, you most of the time have a solid chance of winning if you've got the skills, and its an enjoyable fight. There's no 450 health wall, 600 DPS aimbot, or lag compensated facestab risk when playing against them, and people enjoy that because its a consistently fun experience. This is also the problem with sniper, if you want to talk about horseshit classes. In addition to having several counters to his own counters, the class has so laughably little counterplay that it easily defines the high level metagame, and can be played at times with almost no risk or loss to effectiveness. 7/9 classes are powerless against taking a free 150 (or instant death) from anywhere there's a sight line, and have to fight past an entire team/sentries/into enemy spawns just to deal with it. "Hope he misses" is not counterplay. Nor an excuse for having a class that abuses the midrange combat meta of TF2 by design.
are we done with the circlejerk of "one class main shitting on the other class they never played" yet?
This will never end until all the classes are as shitty as the one the complainers main. How is this good for TF2 again?

Doesn't something tell you when you enter the server and fight them for a poing "something is wrong here"?
well, no not really I mean, that might be me being biased since I mostly play pyro, but I always see soldier as the simplest class to play against - simple mechanics for primary weapon, slower than base movement, and nothing else to worry about.
I just got an idea for the ambassador that would actually fix it and accomplish everything that valve and the community it want for it. The only problem is that it's really stupid. Make the ambassador a shotgun. That's right, a revolver that fires buckshot. It has the same spread as the bullet spread of the amby on the blog, but it fires shotgun pellets instead of single bullets one at a time. Disable random shotgun spread like the new panic attack. At range, it works just like the current ambassador. You take a shot at their head, and the low spread means all the pellets hit, it does full damage. At farther ranges, instead of giving a chance at missing, you just get less damage because fewer pellets hit. All the headshotting pellets crit, all the bodyshot pellets do normal damage. At close and mid range, you're doing full amby headshot damage, at long-range you're doing mediocre far away shotgun damage. The only problem is that I don't think the world is ready for a shotgun disguised as a revolver, that might just be too much.
[t]https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2559/3991339414_9a960746c1_b.jpg[/t] ?
I like the rocket man because you can shoot people with a bazooka.
Yeah, It's so easy that It took me almost 800 hours on soldier to be somewhat good at rocketjumping.
I'm still terrible at things like pogoing around them map in this game on soldier even after 6.6k hours into it. Still need a lot of work on air control as well, I can get the basics of it down. It would help though if I spent more time on actual jump maps probably lol.
Here's an idea: Sniper Rifle. Does 35 DMG a shot. It's gimmick? Instead of charging the shot, you charge more shots - to a maximum of 4. Means every 33%, you get an extra shot. It shoots in a similar way like the panic attack does - in rapid succession - none of that low hp = fast fire rate stuff, though. Means if you wanna take a boy out and fully charge, you get multiple attempts at headshots, at the price of generally decreased dmg. I'd imagine the time between the shots would be something like 0.3 seconds.
ya'll need to take a step away from turning precision hitscan weapons into shotguns. not only does it pretty much ruin the entire point of those weapons, it's unfathomably dumb and pointlessly complicated. why would a sniper ever run a 35-dmg sniper rifle that you have to use tracking to hit headshots with when the entire point of the class is single-shot burst damage? for that matter, how is turning the ambassador into a shotgun (why???) any smarter than either valve or one of the community's proposed reworks? not only would that change be, again, unfathomably dumb, but it would also stick out like a sore thumb against all other revolvers, which fire single-bullets per-shot with no room for error.
Imagine that in the hands of a hacker
still worse than the sniper rifle.

is "cheaters might be going ham with that wep" really an argument
why would a sniper ever run a 35-dmg sniper rifle that you have to use tracking to hit headshots with when the entire point of the class is single-shot burst damage?
Because I like tracking with the panic attack and I want more tracking. The guy has a fucking piss rifle and a bow you can give him a tracking sniper rifle
The only thing I could see working for sniper is giving him a distance cap where he can no longer headshot ( at least ) and maybe reduced damage. But the cap would still be reasonably far so he's still able to snipe classes. I do think it's a tad bit dumb to restrict classes with damage fall off in the game where damage lowers based on distance to the majority of the classes. Then keep a class that has potentially infinite range though. But over all though, it really just boils down to map design in the long run that really makes or breaks the sniper. If you think about it. Make the maps not have really large sight lines and you effectively hinder the snipers effectiveness as well.
is "cheaters might be going ham with that wep" really an argument Because I like tracking with the panic attack and I want more tracking. The guy has a fucking piss rifle and a bow you can give him a tracking sniper rifle
No but the fact that its "upside" is more a downside in most situations. You're barely able to one-shot light classes and you're not even able to one-shot medics, a sniper's biggest priority targets, and taking out overhealed heavies becomes much harder compared to literally every Sniper rifle. Landing 4 headshots even if they is little to no delay between the shots is still pretty hard.
is "cheaters might be going ham with that wep" really an argument
It is with the sniper, a class with no reasonable counterplay and potentially limitless reward for approaching ridiculous aimbot levels of skill.

The guy has a fucking piss rifle and a bow you can give him a tracking sniper rifle
only problem is that the time between shots makes it worse than stock in pretty much every way unless your target is an overhealed heavy, revved and out-in-the-open, who it still won't kill because lol healrate, unlike stock it's a useless gimmick at best sort of like the current panic attack
[t]https://i.imgur.com/GXC6atj.png[/t] boy am i gonna feel foolish if I don't get a craft number
I've got like one or two craft numbers ever and i believe i gave them away to someone who suposedly collects them.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/GXC6atj.png[/t] boy am i gonna feel foolish if I don't get a craft number
Don't they normally increase the chances of getting the items you want when they release new items with crafting numbers? I've gotten plenty over the years and I remember getting newer items more frequently when they're released...
[t]https://i.imgur.com/GXC6atj.png[/t] boy am i gonna feel foolish if I don't get a craft number
you should probably worry that valve won't make recipes in the first place
You didn't ask for the map but there's still a TON of servers that run the map you're talking about. All of which are more than likely 24/7 of that one map. You can usually search 24/7 as a tag prefix to find these kind of servers.
Searched 24/7 and while it isn't the same as years back, I loved it! Spent a couple of hours on dustbowl. Most fun I've had in years and I'm actually starting to feel like I'm not a complete noob. Even got a positive KDR!!
