I joked about it before but what if the 9/6 did mean 9th of June and it's just a really really old writing from june and they let it up to remind themselves of the delay :v:
No one in the US ever uses the day/month/year format even though it's superior and makes more sense than our month/day/year format.
at this point you're better off assuming valve is gonna have the jungle update compete with their bi-centennial comic in terms of how late it's gonna be
Here it is. It's 25 minutes so I couldn't upload it to vimeo or streamable, so I just put it on my google drive. download it and cringe at the audio quality. i'll never look at rice paper the same way again [editline]6th September 2017[/editline] these red food coloring stains won't be coming out for a while
At least some form of sadistic entertainment came out of this. Bless you man.
last night just felt like a fever dream - and just like waking up from one im left confused and with many questions so was nine six intended to be the release date, but jill found a bug super late thus didnt stop this snowball? was nine six unrelated the entire time and they just didnt tell us? if its just a bug keeping it back are we going to get it today? next week? september? it was a bliss to start a week for once and have a general idea of a time frame it could arrive, i didnt feel so lost, but now we are back in the abyss :frown: thank you guys for making it cool either way, it was great to be able to refresh the page every ten min or so and get a new batch of banter
Also for some more 9/6 speculation, they knew Dane was coming 3 weeks in advance./
And the update would've been released too, if it wasn't for you meddling developers, and your stupid plant too!
On the plus side, I can play some more MvM tours without having to worry about how drastically the meta might have changed.
I'm not sure if someone already said it, but what if that jungle doodle (and time underneath it) was simply time when they would playtest the final version of valve's jungle map?
Except that Dane got away with it. Instead of blaming him, we go theorising about delays and such.
Got away with it? Do you want him actually killed or something?
I don't understand what evidence there was to say that the date on the whiteboard was the release date for the update? That could have been the date somebody comes back from vacation or something. Was the meeting room said to be specifically for the TF2 team? If not, that's even more possibilities.
Well, that went about as expected. Sorry to anyone who got their hopes up, I think it would be best for you guys to move on from the whole Sept 6th thing instead of torturing yourselves. There has already been a lot of talk about what the update might bring balance and game play wise, maybe we can toss around some wish lists of workshop content we'd like to see in it? Just a little something to maybe help distract you guys. Here are a couple of the things I hope to see in the update.
Except that Dane got away with it. Instead of blaming him, we go theorising about delays and such.
Flaming Dane any further is unnecessary. He explained his excited motive for posting the 9/6, so let us discuss something else than who to blame next. r/tf2 is filling that specific niche for us.
Now you know why Valve doesn't give Dates out

I will do a write-up of all information available later just for convenience and to kinda help myself out to find a conclusion, I'm still confused.
Wow, Steam Workshop never pushed the Conquest Conmen at me for voting, I so want them!
They are so good. :D This is another good reason for us to share our workshop hopefuls, things people may not have seen.
I just had a realization. Many if not most of the cosmetics nowadays are community contributed. They also don't have some funny description like the old ones used to have. Many of the Workshop pages however, have short and (at least trying to be) funny descriptions that could be used for the in-game version. Kind surprised they're not being put to use.

As you said many of them are written with the intention of being used as in game descriptions.
Not sure if anyone has seen this This may not be for tf2 but it does show some insight about what the devs thought about it.
Maybe they meant to ship the update that day, but it got delayed. I don't know, it's really fucking weird they'd put a date up like that knowing a TF2 player was coming. It's either that or they're really that incompetent. They pretty much trolled everyone without even realizing it.
Maybe they meant to ship the update that day, but it got delayed. I don't know, it's really fucking weird they'd put a date up like that knowing a TF2 player was coming.
Unless they're still playing on the edge of a knife, they should know from at least the beginning of a work day, whether its gonna be the day or not. If it was intended to be, so they said nothing up to yesterday to keep the hype trains and suspense going, they could have at least told us at the start of their workday "today is not the day folks". I'm really struggling with wrapping my head around the events leading to yesterday and how to feel about the TF team's (lack of) response to the whole mess.
I think the community (us) got too hyped about the update launch once again and danes words were just fuel for fire. Mine too before this tuesday when i already said well before wednesday that it isnt coming tomorrow (9/6). But the hype train was unstoppable at that point. Maybe next week we are more calm. It has to come well before halloween, if there is going to be halloween at all. Hell, atleast i'm creating a map (or two) if valve doesn't arrange anything.
Watching the days tick by without an update just makes me mad. God i really need something creative to do. You guys think we will go through another thread without the update coming out?
When do we think update is now?
I cannot think of anything that would delay the update by a day or so, if they had such a clear release date planned. I expect we understood 9/6 wrong and blame the TF team for not clearing things up.
When do we think update is now?
We don't. Any date is possible at this point. Even the connection of the Update release and the "long time to Halloween" statement are debatable now. Soonest possible: Today More likely: Next week (like every week gone by) Most likely: This month Safest bet: This year
I cannot think of anything that would delay the update by a day or so, if they had such a clear release date planned. I expect we understood 9/6 wrong and blame the TF team for not clearing things up.
If the intent was a release and not a blogpost/Day1, any major issue could be the issue. -Weapons not working as intended -Server and/or Client crashes -Security Issues -Game breaking and/or obvious map exploit(s) -Massive performance hit -Fatal bug, crashing the game etcetc
Still vouching for the first half of September, it we pass that with nothing still I'mma assume they're holding for the 10th anniversary.
