Summer ends late september, every year.
calm down fellas
the update is gonna come early this month
it would be suicide for them to put it out that close to halloween
so unless they're dumb enough to postpone it until christmas, it's soon

GC&SS #3: It's like that one Propellerheads song
Or alternatively: GunsAndHatsAndDevsandUpdates4Never
Well, I hope there is MvM content involved in the update if it's taking this long.

the pyro update is just city of heroes issue 24
same time of year for it too
finished, but never live
Still amazed by the fact we haven't seen any community MvM content added to the game, Robotic Boogaloo not counting of course.

Maybe we'll get Cactus Canyon and Asteroid back too! A-and another medieval mode map, and a couple new engie weapons and the Pipboy changed to a PDA and... and...
God damn it, it's going to be 10 october isn't it.

My bet is on next week or the week after, with the e-mail saying that there's "plenty of time before Halloween", even counting Valve time, it shouldn't be much longer. I do believe that NINESIX was an expected date, but they found a last minute issue, and they really want this update to be one of the biggest and best and fix as much stuff as possible. I'm just excited more than anything to be relieved with a blog post just showing up, to stop throwing out random dates.
Ya know what, regardless of the disappointment of the launch date, I have high hopes for this update. I think it'll be the best update in a long time.
[sp]Well, it's the only one in a long time so I guess I'm already right by default![/sp]

Isn't that because the coder for MvM left?

I'd be happy with just doing this one.

Well darn, that's the most difficult bingo square out of all of them.
Imagine spending four hundred days in a bingo hall with the announcer calling everything but your one box.
Oh hello Uncle Dane. Are you hiding from the salty mobs?
If you all want a little something uplifting to hear to soften the blow that was yesterday's false hype, GG2 has turned 9 years old today :toot:
i've actually forgotten, is the jungle and pyro update part of the same bundle, or are they both separate major updates?
I feel like it'll be September 14 or September 21. I really don't think it's far away.
From my understanding the whole update is already "finished", they're just polishing up the update to fix bugs and glitches they find with the various features with the update. Remember, we don't want a Meet Your Match 2 and Valve sure doesn't either.
Sidenote:
It would be cool if they added a "Classic" playlist for TF2, that includes rules like no hats and no weapon unlocks along with a limited map pool to the classic maps between 2007-2009. That would probably be cool for a 10th anniversary update.
Maybe they could have contracts based on the original 17 achievements, that would be freakin sweet.
I remember they promised it to be 2-3 times bigger than usual major update. Even if we take the statement that thrice content equals thrice development time as true, the pyro update development time still started to outweight promised content at Aug 30'th, so i can't help but say that they screwed up with timing regardless of circumstances. And we are yet to see what it brings...

Was 2, fused into one. Includes new "Choose your own Adventure" contracts, new SFM short and Competitive rework.

TFBot's AI is Mike Booth's baby, but they certainly don't need his help for minor tweaks or additions or maps or missions.
(Pretty sure 2city was made after he left valve)

Launch TF2 isn't as fun anymore after playing the modern version. There were no gunboats for rocket jumping, the engie couldn't move buildings, winbombing stickyspam was the meta, and the medic was literally a required chore to win, amongst other things.
I mean if you played scout or sniper then yeah the game is basically still the same, but I just can't bring myself to downgrade all the QoL changes.

But with the spaghetti code, the entire items_game.txt will be nullified from the game.

If that's the case then the fact that they haven't done any new additions to MvM is weird. If the possibility of them being able to make new MvM missions without the help of Mike Booth is true then I dunno why the heck they haven't done anything new with it. People still play it to this day.

As a demo main I'm more than alright with this.

All they said was no equips and limited maps though.
All they said was no equips and limited maps though.
Yeah, you'd still have all the balance changes that they've made. Engie would be able to move buildings, soldier wouldn't have 40 reserve ammo etc.
It would just be interesting to see how different TF2 is, and also how optimized it is without hats.

but that's literally any server when item servers are down

An update to Team Fortress 2 has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2. The major changes include:
Performance

Goodbye money!
*valve ends TF2 development due to the payment model going out the window*

Then it would be just like playing with the item server down on a crappy map pool, not old school TF2.
I don't see why that needs it's own mode.
