Jeez, man. I'm in the midst of some gods. 2k+ hours and i don't really have too many achievements, now i feel like a noob.
I'm getting close as well. I stopped caring about my achievements though so there's some stupid ones I'm missing. I used SAM only for the youtube views achievements. Fuck that. My other account has more hours, too. I never really realized how much media I have made for the game.

I really need to get on an achievement server.
Woah. I really need to get on an achievement server.
Funnily enough I used to be an admin on a achievement server a long while back. The server died as soon as community servers got fucked. RIP.
Do you recall last year when Valve sent several e-mails referring to a new community server registration system designed to bestow more trust upon them?
Are we comparing each other's hours? :v: If so I've have 3k+ and 375 achievements. I have struggled with trying to gain most of the achievements.
I just had the most depressing game of tf2 I have ever encountered. 3:6 K/D ratio Bottom of the board 5 points Top man has 155 points. I've been playing this game for a long time now, and I haven't become any different from xbox 360. The only reason I'm good on 2fort (this match was on freight btw) is because all the idiots congregate there. I'm going to have to sell my items off and play something else at this point. I've been playing for about 3 years and my skill hasn't changed one bit. Level 20 my fucking arse.
Well, I'd love to dig up the e-mail from Jill sent to HLDS, but apparently my e-mail host decided to delete every e-mail in my archive older than 2017. There are many factors which can determine your success, including equipment, where you play, who you play with, and game settings. A monitor with a refresh rate of 144hz or higher can make a world of difference, as can a good mouse and pad. Your net settings, such as cl_interp, should also be tuned accordingly to afford you an optimal experience with both hitscan and projectiles. Be mindful of the environments you play in, and the average skill levels of the players you oppose; ideally you should be testing your abilities against seasoned and knowledgeable people, so you can better identify what you do wrong, and what they do right.
It's true, Jill did sent out that email one day which were "features for the future that need more trust from community server owners" wonder what happened to that.
Unrelated to the above, I noticed something today while comparing the alts and groups of a hacker I banned from my server. [t]https://i.imgur.com/uuEMoMk.png[/t] Hasn't been on in 80 days, VAC banned 9 days ago. I surmise he connected his phone # between several accounts (or used Steam family sharing) and got VAC'd on an account he's used recently. I know Valve sometimes delays VAC bans after detection, but 3+ months seems excessive even for them. Inb4 "VAC bans now happen in Valve Time." Actually, the truth is Valve has been (slightly) more proactive in handing out VAC bans recently. They've done some manual bans, on the Catbot author and a couple others. It's still a rare occurrence when I connect to casual matchmaking and don't encounter a cheater.

Download and install tr_walkway and tr_aim and practice for a few hours, aim for direct hits and mess around with your viewmodel settings. The bots on tr_walkway don't work unless you enter this command into the console: sv_allow_point_servercommand always

I had this problem too, earlier in my TF2 experience. Then I realized that 70% of the valve maps were complete ass, and was the main reason why I was surrounded by unaware buffoons building on last, and gibus bads fumbling a retreat as the enemy team's unusual combo bulldozed the objective. Nobody has fun on 2fort or freight. Playing on better maps (I.e. badwater, viaduct, upward, etc.) And actually spending a few hours a week practicing (tr_walkway, mge servers against people your level) can make a world of difference and helps level the playing field against players with vastly more in-game time, as what's more important than hours played, is what you're doing with them.
somebody have the source on this? first time im hearing about it
It's in older MUS threads if you dig hard enough.
Catbots appear mostly in 2fort because sniper battles.
Catbots appear mostly in 2fort because sniper battles.
Really? Harvest seems to be infested with them. 2fort rounds are always really clean when it comes to hackers.
Catbots appear mostly in 2fort because sniper battles.
Still haven't met a single catbot ever and I've played so many pubs recently. Is it a NA thing?
Didn't catbot die out though?
This email?
Hey everyone, Following up on the warning email we sent a long while back, we're making good on our promise and changing our build toolchains for the TF2+SDK2013 games' dedicated server. TF2 is being updated first, with the other SDK2013 games to follow. There are two things that may affect server administrators that you should be aware of: *The Linux dedicated server now targets the Steam Runtime* The Steam Runtime is a common runtime target based on Ubuntu. For srcds, this largely means linking against a more recent glibc than may be available in some server distributions. Administrators should check that the provided beta still runs in their environment of choice. Those who are on older or incompatible distributions have several options: - Switch to a distribution more compatible with the Steam Runtime, such as Ubuntu LTS - Make use of a chroot/container/VM environment to run srcds. The tools linked below include a script for creating a chroot that can be used for bootstrapping Steam Runtime environments. - Use the Steam Runtime tools linked below combined with some dynamic linker magic to use the runtime libraries on an incompatible distribution, e.g.: steamrt=/path/to/runtime export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="bin:$steamrt/usr/lib32" LD="$steamrt/usr/lib32/ld-linux.so.2" "$LD" ./srcds_linux "$@" More information about the Steam Runtime and utilities for obtaining it can be found here: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-runtime * * *The compiler toolchain used for all editions of srcds has changed* Along with the client builds, all server builds have been updated to a newer compiler. Windows builds now use the MSVC2015 tools, while Linux builds now use a newer edition of GCC with differing command-line parameters that affect codegen. This is expected to break mods that expect certain ABI behaviors or look for certain signatures in order to hook functions (such as SourceMod). We have separately spoken with the SourceMod team and they are working on supporting the new setup. Maintainers of other mods should test them against the beta release below. Our previous warning also indicated that this would change the _srv naming of the linux binaries. We have decided *not* to adjust this, and the separate _srv build and naming remains unchanged. *Beta* We've made a beta branch available for TF2 with these new changes. The remaining SDK2013 games will be updated in the near future, and we will provide a beta for them at that time. The beta is compatible with the current TF2 public release - servers may safely convert to it and continue serving both beta and non-beta clients. The beta branch is titled "toolchainbeta" with no required password. It can be accessed with SteamCMD via: app_update 232250 -beta toolchainbeta These changes may be promoted to an official release of TF2 as soon as next week, so we encourage all server administrators to test their setup against the beta before then. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns - John

Didn't catbot die out though?
Catbot and their creator(s) were all manually vac banned by Valve. There have been some spin-offs appearing (Maxbot etc) since the cathook code was open-source.
Catbot and their creator(s) were all manually vac banned by Valve.
This email?
Nah it was something else, its like 1-2 years ago.
If it's possible couldn't someone send the code to the TF Team so they could do something about the bootleg Catbots?
Maybe. Cathook is a Linux-based hack, and VAC doesn't work that well on Linux-based systems since they're less restrictive than other platforms.
The e-mail was circulated prior to the release of Meet Your Match, with many of us speculating that it may have had something to do with a feature that would be rolled out for the summer update. Suffice it to say, those features never materialized.
I feel like the more we nitpick these little details, the more Jill or someone will read them and go "Oop, probably should fix that too."
Well, we could always tell them we just want the update and to stop fixing bugs. (We just want the update, so please stop fixing the mistyped flavor text. Pryo is close enough, right?)
If it's possible couldn't someone send the code to the TF Team so they could do something about the bootleg Catbots?
it's open source, they can take a look at it whenever they want
Atleast we got ourselves some fresh news posts.
It doesn't matter what it is, people will riot if it isn't a about the pyro update. They've installed page monitors on the TF2 blog, for how close they think the update is.

The bots will reappear walking backwards that better approximates the head hitbox.
