I personally enjoyed the changes made to the Shortstop. The shove mechanic is great, it was a really needed change, it made the Shortstop such a great weapon, I can't believe they hadn't though of that sooner. It's such a common weapon now among scout mains, that I have never seen the shove animation done by an enemy scout.
Last minute balance changes? How could they come up with the Shortstop change at the last minute? Who thought that it was a good idea?
The balance changes were obviously last minute. They're fucking atrocious and shouldn't have left the design stages.
I must stress this again, they didn't. even. test. the changes. The enforcer's "buff" didn't even work.
And don't forget the The Righteous Bison 'Fix'
Turning a 'Ok' weapon into a pile of shit
I'd rather they take their time than release something half assed just so there's something. Though I think if they knew the update was gonna take this long then they should have released a small content pack at the start of summer, a few cosmetics and a taunt or two.
I'd like to hope that they have something that's better than half assed at this point, seeming its been almost a year and a half at this point.
I really hope they take a different approach with updates after this big one. A few updates a year with less content but important bug fixes and balancing would be far better than waiting for it to come in one big patch.

It wasn't an ok weapon before the change, it was bad.
Is it me alone that the TF2 Official Wiki is down?

When is it not?

Errr.
Last week it was up.
Errr.

It repeatedly goes down randomly through ought every day for me. Nothing new.
I don't know if this is allowed here but I just found this mod and it seems really cool

Regarding update speculation, lets have a poll once again when we see first sign (first page of update page, post to mailing list or next blog post) of the update coming up. You got several markers on use, starting from "Agree" (11th day), "Disagree" (12th), "Funny" (13th) and everything in between up to "Late" (21st day) and "Dumb" (later, unnamed date or similar).
So pick one, 11th - 21st or mark Dumb as later. Personally, i go for this tusday (marked disagree). Go!

I can't add ratings yet, but i'm going for "Disagree" (12th) :)
Lookin' at the "happenings" list all we've got (apart from the stuff that already goes for next week like whispers of maps getting accepted and/or Crash updating overgrown out of nowhere) is Mike saying his work(TF2 music) might get released next week.
So sit tight
I'll go with "dumb".
Not because I'm expecting it that late, but because these polls are fucking dumb.
Maybe, but sometimes its fun to go look back who had the closest guess. It would be as fun as to guess that the valve map is a 3stage control point map or community maps being from 4 different gamemode categories.
at this point I'd say they either overwhelmed themselves with too much tasks to do, not knowing it would take this long, or that they are working on multiple stuff that wasn't mentioned previously, like the case system changes that was only mentioned a couple of weeks ago, if it's the latter, since they are working in this regard, I'll go ahead and speculate some changes to drop/crafting systems, maybe changes to loadouts and equips too
We need someone to burn at the stake if it's not next week.

I will apply for this because then i'll be able to experience the real life pyro update :)
So a catbot just joined the casual server I was on and started mic-spamming that Jake Paul rap song.
He/she/it got kicked about 10 seconds later.

Here's something a little different.
What type of gamemode will the new valve map be?
Payload - Agree
KOTH-Disagree
Control Point -Optimisitic
Attack/Defend - Informative
CTF - Funny
Dumb - Stop making shitty polls
Personally I kind of want a cool attack/defend map but I think it will end up being payload.

You can burn me if you want.

This is starting to sound like that Borderlands 2 sidequest to do with burning a psycho alive in tribute of the Firehawk.
What false prophet shall we name your sacrifice under next week?

Wowie, I'm so excited I can't sleep
Just a dumb thought
If pyro ever becomes viable in competitive, the sun on a stick would become finally useful and won't need anymore a buff
Maybe it will even need a nerf, being it considered "too strong for 6s environment" due to its easy way to get crits

Even if all scout melee got crits 100% of the time it'd still be worse than just using the scattergun so the Boston basher would remain the best option for uber building alone

It should still be Uncle Dane
So the fix I made for the lighting has already been done before
https://gamebanana.com/skins/153875
The gamebanana version actually does look better than mine IMO. I just threw my mod together without knowing what I was doing, I just copied all the phong values and stuff from the original viewmodels and MOCOLONI custom tweaked the viewmodels to look specifically like the pre-love and war weapons.
The thing with delaying the update this long is that I really doubt the release is going to be a completely smooth one, it's still going to have the usual server issues that come with literally every major update, as well as the fact that whatever QA team Valve have clearly isn't big enough to stomp out all potential bugs before release.
Not that a few hiccups really matter to me that much, but you're definitely going to hear some people complaining that the long delays weren't worth it when they discover that the update has some launch issues associated with it.
It should still be Uncle Dane
Make it STAR_ for his heresy against the TF2 Gospel!
Sun on a stick is a fundamentally flawed weapon, because it relies too much on extremely specific circumstances, of your scattergun's clip being empty, your enemy being on fire, and your enemy being a class that you can get into melee range of safely. The design needs to be completely replaced. I was thinking something like
The Sun on a Stick
+20% movement speed while active, which persists for 5 seconds after weapon is holstered
User is ignited while this weapon is active, and remains on fire for 10 seconds afterwards
User cannot be healed or extinguished from any source while the speed boost is active
-20% healing from all sources
High risk, high reward, allowing scouts to dodge enemy fire or chase down targets, but at a serious health cost. Especially risky to use when enemy pyro's with flare guns are about. I think it would be fun to use, without having to rely on other pyros on your team. Limited use for Uber building as well.
Whether you like the upside, I think the fire part of the weapon should involve self-ignition as a downside. Fire resistance is too specific a circumstance, especially with the pitiful 15 damage it protects you from right now. Buffs against ignited enemies is also too specific a circumstance, and actually having it ignite enemies basically turns it into the Boston basher. I don't see any other way to make it have a fire motif and actually be useful other than some kind of self ignition mechanic as the drawback.
how2fix sunstick
remove the dumb fire resis
give it a fire baseball (ignites but no stun)
done!

So... The Powerjack for Scout, but self-damages while enabling Scout to make the life of other 125 HP classes a living hell? Sounds totally fun. To be honest I'm not sure we need another weapon to make Scout run faster.
