no you dont lol. just because you might need to go back to a pyro once in a while doesnt mean he needs to devote his attention to you. you dont even necessarily need to go back to the pyro. health kits in most maps are plentiful or nearby most combat zones.
not even necessarily a pyro for that matter. cow mangler works too. and a pyro can still use flares to ignite you from a range.
this is absolutly a co-operative weapon but it doesn't rely on two people devoting themselves to one goal. it's a for-fun weapon that works well with friends, it's not supposed to be a genuine sidegrade so much as it is gimmicky fun.
Way to ignore 95% of my post, missing the point of even the half-sentence you quoted
MyM made it harder for people who just want to casually hop into a server, and play for a while.
Before, getting a server was instantaneous via server browser, or quick play. Now you're forced to sit in a 5 minute queue, for a game that is either, a 4 v 10, or over the moment you enter it.
I still dont get this, are y'all just queuing up for Junction and Yukon? I have 20 maps and selected and the system throws me into games instantly, if there is one thing I actually like about it, it's that.
Now if only 1/4 games weren't those 6vs6 servers that wont fill after 10 minutes.
Friendly fire eh? You've failed to account for the troll factor.
How about no. Grief is more powerful than fun, and people on the internet are mindless grief drones.
What if instead of being ignited by a pyro, you can right click to ignite yourself?
Why not just have something like
Ignites victim for 3sec
Demote full crits into minicrits
You know I've been thinking, when's the last time anybody got a random hat drop? Idk about you guys but it has to have been at least a year ago for me. Are cosmetic drops broken again?

I got a random hat drop in August. I also saw a cosmetic drop a week or two ago. Lord Gaben just hasn't smiled upon you with a good RNG roll recently for your random drops.

Thank you for not reading the 3 posts I made exactly after that one, and just cherry picking that.

I think this guy was the last one to post about finding a hat, so I guess around 4 weeks ago.

I got two of them in a row a month ago, couldn't believe my luck.
I am finally in the "remove random crits" camp. They are just the absolute worst.
did they up the crit rate without telling anyone recently
it's starting to feel like every death is to random crits
I'm fine with melee crits as there is an inherent risk involved but random crits on everything else is just eugh.
they should just remove random crits from all ranged weapons and replace melee crits with the gunslinger crit mechanic.

I have a group of IRL friends that I still play TF2 with, and the only things they want to play are mannpower, degroot, and (tryhard) hightower.
It sometimes takes a couple minutes for us to get into a game.
Also my friends have a very peculiar preference in map rotation.
they should just remove random crits from all ranged weapons and replace melee crits with the gunslinger crit mechanic.
I've been thinking about that lately and I think that might work. Some weapons like the demo's swords would probably need to not have that mechanic though.
I've also wondered about most melee weapons giving a small speed boost (maybe 5-10%) while deployed. You could remove the boost from some more powerful weapons to help balance them but I'm not sure what you would want to do with spies though since their melee is their primary attack.
I don't really think that applying the Gunslinger crit mechanic to all melees would really make much of a difference. 3 melee hits do 195 damage, which will kill most classes anyway. The only thing it would affect are overhealed Soldiers and Heavies, both of which you probably don't want to get into melee range of anyway.
The only real change I can see is with Scout's melee, since 3 regular hits do 105 damage, whereas a third crit would cause 175 damage in total. However, this is melee on Scout. Just shoot them.
Why is it so common for people to want to keep melee random crits? They're bullshit just like any other random crits, you can't make proper tactical decisions about someone in melee range because they might instakill you for no reason, and that's on top of the funky hit detection.
Random crits should be removed wholesale, not just assigned to melee weapons. Although I wouldn't mind seeing the gunslinger crits gimmick on some other weapons, that's different.
There's no way to counterplay bad RNG luck, so it shouldn't exist. Valve said something similar in the Move Those Weapons Up! blog post, about wanting players to feel like there was something they could have done different.
Random crits suck...as they are now.
It's a mechanic that shouldn't be thrown outta window in battles 12v12. There's too much shit going on, so "luck" can still be a thing.
Make random crits more transparent(i.e. giving full body glow on high crit chance), and less random.
Dying from a random pellet just because "lol 2%", isn't really that fun.
The game doesn't need any more luck in casual. That one gibus sniper getting a bodyshot for your last health, or a way out of position pyro who fumbled into you is enough bad luck already, not to mention the spam bowl most maps turn into at choke points.
I'm not sure what you would want to do with spies though since their melee is their primary attack.
Make every third butterknife swing equivalent to a backstab and remove the regular backstab mechanic. No more sidestabs and facestabs, distinct and nuanced gameplay be damned.

Because it's a big Nerf to medics and demos, who are already very vulnerable at close range. It's also a substantial Nerf to engi, who uses melee often to deal with spies. It would also make all of heavy's damage-oriented melees and the buffalo steak even MORE useless, and those are already trash tier, the last thing they need is nerfs. Everybody else on the cast rarely has any reason to try to melee somebody, so nerfing thier melee even further seems like a poor choice. Basically if you remove random crits you NEED to replace it with a damage buff to all melee or else the melee slot becomes even more irrelevant.
Once again I got put into a Hightower server on Valve casual.
I was capping and while capping I saw a teammate on the tower just watching me. I knew he was in menu getting ready to kick. And whatta ya know? He vote kicks me.
I capped it anyway and won, he trash talked me in chat and just before the kick was successful and I was booted I said "stay mad bitch".
Was I bad a guy for saying that? I don't think so..

But then the proper response would be to, as you say, buff their melee damage - because a medic seemingly being guaranteed a crit melee after doing a lot of healing just seems like a dumb idea, or when trying to juke an engie as a spy he shouldn't get rewarded for landing a single hit on you with an RNG kill.
You shouldn't be rewarded for madly going into melee distance, that doesn't make any sense.

I dunno, maybe if those weapons were rebalanced to not suck for the past 6 years or added utility, then they wouldn't need to deal RNG bamboozle hits to be considered useful.
But yeah, let's buff the damage on slots that half the classes don't use anyway *thinking emoji*

People tend to want to play TDM on Casual mode, especially on a map like plr_hightower. In the kicker's eyes, you were a nuisance for shortening the round and possibly forcing him back to the queue. He probably would want to use that round time to have carefree fun. And before you mention community servers, yes, they are an alternative for TDM play but some people enjoy pubstomping with ease and not worrying about friendlies getting in the way.
I think you were the bad guy of this story.

If you ever see anyone like that in a casual game send them the IP for Exor's Hightower server, the mods on that server don't even let the carts spawn.

Melee is supposed to be a last-resort trash-tier option.
If we remove random crits... what happens to the tickle mittens?

Is it? I see a lot of medics who would rather smack you with an ubersaw then try to neddle gun you, or crossbow you. Same with snipers. Most would rather take a chop with the kukri or something then spary you down with an SMG. Most snipers don't even have the SMG equipped.
Yeah, because an ubersaw builds uber. Apart from that it's an "oh dear I can't run away guess I'll try to melee them" which again, shouldn't be rewarded with crits.

Tickle mittens would still crit from behind.
As for med/sniper they don't really have any other options close-range. Also you can still 2-hit light classes so the damage isn't weak. Putting yourself into melee range as a med/sniper is the dangerous part.

Oh I would be fine with replacing melee crits with a base damage increase or something similar, but some people in the thread want to just nerf it outright, and would actually prefer it to be useless for some reason, that that's what I have a problem with.

It shouldn't be rewarded with crits, but that doesn't mean it should do like 25 or 50 damage per hit.
I guess I just like the RnG funnies of random crits. I feel like its engrained into the culture of the game.
