When I get random crit kills it's always during moments of desperation.
That's really weird, can other east coasters weigh in on this? I'm west coast, are queue times somehow worse east coast?
Massachusetts here, default ping limit, most/all maps selected, literally in the time it takes to alt-tab I have a match 75% of the time
To me it feels like Valve believes they need to hold my hand so I can get my kills instead of letting me earn them myself. =/
They sure ass he'll need to hold my hand, I have yet get a 20 killstreak, with almost 1.4 k hours
Random crits is the killstreak ender, one crit rocket and you lose your 35 kill streak.... unless your heavy well good luck losing most your health from the crit and dieing by the 2nd rocket.
i cant find it for the life of me, but was morasky's new project meant to be unveiled on tuesday or wednesday?
What I'm tired the most of is wrench crits and ubersaw crits. They just happen so often.
Might be wrong, but I heard years ago that since the higher killstreak you get (this is before KS kits), the higher chance of you getting random crits is rewarded. Since medic getting assists and Engineer getting sentry kills counts as "kills" for them, it's far more easier for them to get a high chance of random crits. Might be wrong but I felt this was true whenever I dominated as soldier, I noticed I would get quite a few random crockets.

Didn't Morasky say it involved a proper orchestra? Were any of the other tf2 tracks recorded from an actual live orchestra? I always assumed it was all done with samples on computers, since there's an Intruder Alert midi in the game files.
i was worried the update would come out while i was working on two huge assignments for uni but i've finished one, have started the other and get holidays in a week now i'm worried it won't come out in time for my holidays. how can an update be so near yet so far?

Sure hope that they fix it when the update comes out. Atleast delfy wont get the ad revenue :hammered: (yeah i know its fake, keep your dumbs)

What're you talking about, guys? It's obviously real [t]https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/f/f7/Spinaltap.png?t=20111224134557[/t] [t]https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/1/1a/Killicon_spinal_tap.png?t=20131003061613[/t]
me an hour ago: "i should go to bed" also me: [t]https://i.gyazo.com/29d83669376bede5911ff9dfaf5f1397.png[/t] (i spent over an hour porting this model and modifying it so it would work as an allclass melee/solemn vow and i hate myself for it)
the way I understand it is that the crit rate goes up as you do damage and gets cut back down to default once you deal a crit
Nope. Crit damage adds to the "damage done in 10 seconds" variable. Ever get like 10 crit swings in a row? Play some tr_walkway for a bit to see how ridiculous random crits can be
I dont understand the people that want to sell crits as "skillbased" using the argument that "the more damage you do, the more likely you are to crit, thus it isnt random tehe" its still a dice roll if person A throws a dice with 5 sides and person B throws a dice with 6 sides, person A will have an easier time getting a 1 - but it's still a fucking dice roll
Crits aren't supposed to be skillbased, they're supposed to help the pacing of the game to help make moments where a player goes on a killstreak and gets 4-5 players. They talk about random crits in the Gravelpit commentary.
In reality, it stops people from getting high killstreaks.
the commentary says that the player goes on a rampage and kills a large quantity of players but obviously the same mechanic that allows him to do that would also get him killed in a similar way
I'd prefer if I die that I can go "Welp, I got outplayed. GG." rather than "Oh, I got killed because he got free x3 RNG damage. And we lost because that one spammed crit sticky killed our medic combo which was trying to push" The difference being the latter is fair, the other is not and punishes you for trying to coordinate with a team. Countless times have I seen medics ready to push for a soldier to just get a free crit rocket from his beggars bazooka spam and the entire push gets denied. Not because the soldier positioned well, not because he aimed well. But because of the RNG crit which just dealt 270 damage to everyone near it. Crits should be reserved for Kritzkrieg and weapons which give crits on certain skilled playstyles which require high amount of aim, prediction or positioning. Not RNG.
When I got back into TF2, sometime in June, I binded my "]" key to type the phrase "randomcritsisafunfairandbalancedmechanic". I look forward to the day random crits no longer exist and I get to unbind it.
Everyone complains about random crits until they get them.
Everyone complains about random crits until they get them.
I was pro-crits. However, I switched camps this year. I still complain even when I get random crits. You still get destroyed by random crits much more than you get them.
Hitreg being fickle bothers me more than random crits, I'm always so hesitant to use hitscan weapons because hitreg hates me. Also does anyone know how to fix that weird issue with the Original if you use minimal view models? It puts a hand on the left side of the screen and that sucks. It also puts the spare bullets for the shortstop in the scout's mouth but that's funny :v:
What's the big deal over the black box? How is it useful? I'm utterly confused.
Everyone complains about random crits until they get them.
I complain about random crits mostly when I get them. It feels cheap and you have no idea if you'd've won the fight by the skin of your teeth or not, and it stops you if you're trying to go for some cool thing because you just kill everyone with RNG, and that feels like arse. I also feel bad about reflecting random crockets into dense groups of enemies, but it feels funny knowing that someone on the enemy time partnered with RNG to wipe their own team. That's about it.
Random crits might have been a cool feature back in 2007, but I've already seen the wacky and epic moment where a Solider clicks on the floor and gets 7 kills countless times, the spectacle wore off years ago and it gets no reaction from me besides "that was fuckin dumb" anymore
What's the big deal over the black box? How is it useful? I'm utterly confused.
Medics in pubs are rare, so any external HP Source is amazing. Getting a maximum of 60 HP just by poking is pretty amazing.
