What keeps me on the fence about crits is new players. That random dice roll may be the only chance they have at getting those little victories. They're going to get their faces kicked in regardless, but how much of a difference do those little victories make?
I'd be interested in an analysis of new player retention rates in environments with and without random crits.

The solution would be to have better pairings to keep vets from fighting new players, but I'm not sure if that's possible in TF2's current state and playercount.
Today is a good day

What's the deal with the diamondback? If you're getting frequent stabs isn't it more or less a straight upgrade to stock?

Well that answers the question as to whether hats are still dropping

It has a bit of base damage reduction IIRC
Black Box was even better back in the day. +20 health from any range that stacked based on how many people were in the AoE. I recall time when I would be low health and spam rockets across the map, only to heal to full because 2 rockets that did little to no damage struck a group of people.

Which is exactly why they changed it. No weapon should make it that easy to get full health.

It has the same damage reduction as the amby, so its basically the amby but for bad players

it was +15 and it was balanced. The only thing it needed was the cap of 1 instance per rocket.
the version right now is pretty inconsistent and a little frustrating to use but that's just me
had my second dream of the update launching. i sure hope for some good news this week :v:
Dude, Morasky's comments saddens me. "It could be out next week" could mean any point in time between three months to ten years in Valve's clock.
Let's hope something happens this week, really been waiting to jump back on the game with more people playing any other thing besides Turbine (to clarify, South american players only thing they god damn do is playing Turbine and never caping the damn Intel in order to have infinite deathmatch time, so sick of it).
ten years
Okay I think this joke is going a bit far now.
remember the time they retired the 9 OG hats and added a "limited" tag to hats even though the people who'd care about limited hats already know if they're limited, all for no reason besides an economy experiment

God damn I still want the Pyro's Fireman Hat.
I don't think that one's retired IIRC
Apparently when CSGO jumps ship to Source2, its servers will go from the current 64 tickrate of Source games to 128.
EDIT: This is speculation based on the Chinese version of CS:GO

You are right, it was the Beanie, my bad. Still can't find that other one tho :(

Wait what, since when is CS:GO going Source 2?

Where have you heard/read this?
I still do not see the reason behind taking away the OG hats at all.
Also I am dangerously close to the 6k hours mark, I feel disgusting.

Why, is there something I've missed, or just a hunch?
It's a good day because they found human remains in their computer

or the remains of the rest of the dev team.
source
Actually partial speculation from a YouTuber. I saw the title and that he had "Source" in his description so I though it was legit.

Second time this month I've done sloppy journalism, kinda surprised Polygon hasn't offered me a job yet.
At some point he mentions how "TF2 is not in development #RIPTF2", so he's not the most credible of sources.
Wait what, since when is CS:GO going Source 2?
"source 2 is in the future for all our projects"
surely this means valve's second (first?) most popular game is also getting Source 2. TF2 is the depressed third wheel tagging along, way behind, so who knows

Pretty sure you can unbox retired hats. Just open one of those really old crates.

I think it's plausible that one day we may see a source 2 port for TF2, just not anytime soon.
