Same old presentation, the 128tick servers part is new but still doesn't imply Source 2 - Source 1 can also handle 128 ticks
[t]http://i.imgur.com/N0B49qW.jpg[/t]
it literally says source 2 right there
Apparently when CSGO jumps ship to Source2, its servers will go from the current 64 tickrate of Source games to 128.
EDIT: This is speculation based on the Chinese version of CS:GO
CSGO right now can run 128 tick with no problems, all community competitive games are hosted on 128 tick servers, nobody knows why valve doesn't just change all servers to 128 already

it translates to "Source 2 Panorama UI"
doesn't confirm anything, they can backport the UI
CSGO has been in Source 2 Wikipedia page for a while now.

"In April 2017, Valve announced that they would be porting Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to Source 2 later in the year"
Also It's a shame, but I was really hyped for the update 2 months ago, but today my hype completely ended and I lost hope. Wouldn't even be exicted anymore even If they did release the update, shame, hope I get some motivation to get back into TF2 soon.

Wikipedia has not more infos than we do, they are in no way related to valve
Correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't there be much less in CSGO to port to Source 2 versus TF2? CSGO, as far as I can tell, only has a couple dozen weapons (sans texture-swapped skins), the fancy knife models, a much smaller overall map pool and two whole player models...now of course there's making sure physics and gameplay remain accurate as possible between the two engines, but wouldn't the port be much less work overall?
[editline]12th September 2017[/editline]
this is the source that Wikipedia article used for that claim, by the way

wikis have to cite everything they say, so keep that in mind when using wikis to research...anything

it's much less work for sure, much less weapons, far much less models (all they have is skins, they just need to port the weapon base and make sure skins work correctly, compared to the ton of cosmetics in TF2), also less weapons, less maps and most importantly the mechanics of the game are less complex than in TF2, and they have room to do changes to physics, it really wouldn't affect the game that much if movement changed slightly, the biggest affect would be grenade physics

If I recall correctly that presentation that everyone quotes only mentions the UI from Source 2 would be brought to CS:GO, not a complete rework like Dota reborn. Does not rule it out, but it doesn't confirm it either. Someone from Valve said that eventually, all of their active titles will be on Source 2. (Obviously)

I can't wait till 2025 till that happens. I wonder If TF2 will ever get to the point where It's atleast gonna get mentioned or rumoured to be in Source 2. In my opinion, that is very unlikely, Since It's a possiblity that this is the last ever TF2 Major update.
Regardless of the source 2 situation, this:
Since It's a possiblity that this is the last ever TF2 Major update.
Is ridiculous. Why would valve try to focus on the competitive community, a project that requires long-term support to be worth their time, as the last thing they do before abandoning the game?

I see you're feeling pretty down because of the update still not releasing. I'm also not excited about the update at all anymore and don't think or feel like it will be this week. However, when the update gets announced, I guarantee: you will get hyped.
Pretty sure you can unbox retired hats. Just open one of those really old crates.
You can't uncrate anymore. They were removed from the crate and drop system years ago.
There is absolutely no reason to think of this as the "last Major TF2 Update"
Apart from the logical reasons such as tf2 being a cashcow, why in the worlds would the TF Team invite people, ask for their feedback and what they would like to see in the future if "they wont be working on it lole, only small cases every now and then".
That's just update drought depression speaking, which I cant blame anyone for.
You can't uncrate anymore. They were removed from the crate and drop system years ago.
I miss crates.
No fancy colors. Just yellow and (if you were lucky) orange and dark purple. No blues, no reds, no confusing tiers.
Just simplicity.
You can't uncrate anymore. They were removed from the crate and drop system years ago.
You can still unbox them from the crates where they are specifically listed. They don't drop and are not craftable anymore though.

But simplicity and nonarbritrary rarities don't make as much moooooney
But simplicity don't make as much moooooney
must be why all the unlocks are full of nonsensical garbage stats compared to the first ~5 years
But simplicity and nonarbritrary rarities don't make as much moooooney
I have it: Tiered paints. They'll make millions.
must be why all the unlocks are full of nonsensical garbage stats compared to the first ~5 years
The game is also more balanced now than it was in the first 5 years
The game is also more balanced now than it was in the first 5 years
LOL no.
I have it: Tiered paints. They'll make millions.
Black and White paints already fill that role...
The game is also more balanced now than it was in the first 5 years
if by "balanced" you mean "everyone uses the same 2 weapons every class" then I can't say I support that.
at least with the old unlocks everything was very powerful, but on the same line with all classes having their own powerful gear.
People keep going on about Source 2 port, and keep confuse me.
What exactly do you want from it? Due to amazing understaffment and/or incompetence, TF2 team continuously fails to implement quality of life features in game, that are possible in S1, but some instead of looking into that, dream about Source 2 port. What should it bring, in your opinion? Adequate hitboxes that are not bulky parallelepipeds ,partly fixed to world orientation? Can be done in Source. Better network handling? Can be done in Source. And i run out of ideas here, because we don't even know enough about Source 2 yet to make assumptions for possible features.
The port would be great, but it's not exactly necessary now. If it would be made Half-Life: Source style, then it's pointless - why carrying over game to new engine if all workings are legacy. And if it would be complete remake - that will take ages, and we still don't know what to expect from it anyway.
I dont want source 2 I want an update.

I want an Engine that can fully utilize 2017 hardware.
If they make TF2 able to use all of my CPU and all of my GPU, I'd be happy
Plenty of time before halloween?

CS:GO had the same problem.
Relevant anecdote: When we used to be approached about Source 2 at Majors we would ask "what is it that you're hoping Source 2 will do for CSGO" and for a while the response was "I expect hitboxes will be better." Moving everything to Source 2 would not actually solve that problem. We just went ahead and spent time working on better hitboxes.
Players expected updating to Source 2 to be the catch-all for anything they wanted. Just updating to Source 2 might allow the game to better utilize hardware, like properly using multiple cores.
Players want a variety of things: improved hitboxes, better netcode, bug fixes, and optimization seem to be the main ones. Perhaps some rendering improvements as well.
Then there's TF2 specific cases. Things like more than three cosmetics, making the flamethrower work, and facestabs. All these can be tied to the engine, but a new engine wouldn't change anything about them.
Plenty of time before halloween?
A week is technically plenty of time. But seriously, I was hoping the update would be out this week, I even bought a $50 steam card in anticipation.
