20% jump height, on top of being able to use a building for additional height seems like you could go pretty high for a class like engie.
honestly if we hear nothing by the 20th (more realistically the 17th) then I'm jumping to my first almost no chance expectation, which is getting more realistic every day, that is October 10th, I still really hope they consider the 17th as the 10th anniversary, as that's when the TF2 beta started, but October 10th is sadly a very possible expectation.
if the update drops today or a month from now, it will inevitably overlap with halloween, which according to multiple opinions isn't a good thing, as the contracts will overlap, and with new cases being added in a short proximity from eachother, the revenue for item creators would go down.
SPECULATION
However, let's not forget what was said about the new campaign system
"a new campaign and in that campaign, we've revamped how we're working on contracts and how we give them out to players. There's a lot more player choice now, so they'll be able to choose which contracts they're going to do and the types of rewards they can work toward and try to achieve (something internally we refer to as choose your own adventure)"
yes, whatever campaign is in the Pyro update and halloween contracts will overlap, however, due to the new system, Halloween contracts could be given during scream fortress as part of the Pyro campaign (if you've bought the pass for the first campaign), or get them for free if you haven't, and then you can choose your reward, one of the new fancy halloween themed items, or the typical non tradable items we got for the last 2 years, only the latter being available if you haven't bought the pass.
this will allow overlap to happen with no problems, while still allowing free users to get contracts and rewards.
and most importantly all the changes and new content coming in the pyro update, and a few days later halloween maps and items.
or they could delay the update until smissmas and let us implode.
133 new posts and zero news. Another week beefed away.
Time to pack it up for next year boyos.
:toxx: If the pyro update isnt out by halloween ban me
Escape Clause: I will Photoshop myself into various pornographic materials and provide a link (think the subway subs thing) lol

Seriously Valve what the fuck are you doing
I'm not even mad about the 100 keys I'm just aghast that it's still not out.
I've been thinking about Valve's amby change, and I think a better way of dealing with long range amby than bullet spread is to, instead of making it crit on headshot, make it do 3X damage on headshot. It's the same damage increase, except the bullets still suffer from damage falloff. Long range headshots still deal damage, and they're still perfectly accurate, but due to falloff they only do 51 damage.
You didn't take actual crits into account. What if the amby spy is under the effects of a kritzkrieg? He'll be able to deal 153 damage at long range. God knows how much up close.

Back in July my best guess for the update being released was early Sept. Now we're nearing mid Sept and I don't know what to think. Some communication would be awesome right about now.
lol a two year gap between major updates has actually become a legitimate believable possibility
just checking in for my irregular optimism post
it'll come out soon enough fellas, just sit tight, no way they'll put it out after halloween considering they're still expected to drop packages for halloween and christmas right after
and they're not gonna put it that damn close either, they need time to at least do -some- work on halloween, even if that's just picking up workshop content and re-wiring the contracts

Valve corporate structure actually being conducive to game development and not just an excuse to snort coke while wearing VR headsets
three of the nine classes in TF2 (Heavy, Pyro, Spy) not being fundamentally useless when compared to the remaining six
the TF Team- or any non-Dota Valve team, really- being able to release content for their games in a respectable timespan

a new Demo grenade launcher
EDIT: We may actually see one since every new Demo grenade launcher has come out on Christmas (2010-Loch 'n' Load, 2012-Loose Canon, 2014-Iron Bomber)

the righteous bison being usable
I still fluctuate on the worst part of MyM's """"""""Balancing"""""""" being either the Enforcer not being tested or the outright lie that was the Bison being bugged.
Like fuck off it was in the description.

You have to wonder what exactly is taking so long. Yeah this update sounds pretty big but unless they're working on something we don't know about you seriously have to wonder what's taking so long. The features we know about don't say 14+ month wait since MyM to me.
If Valve would just come out and say "XXXX is what's taking so long, we hope to have the update done around XX" it wouldn't be so bad but this silence is awful and I'm seriously starting to question what's going on.

them not communicating gives me the idea that they have something surprising brewing
they've already shown they're capable of an intermittent communication blogpost, so no word gives the impression that whatever they're working on they don't wanna talk about
what if it's taking so long because they've been working on the halloween update at the same time
Nearly a year and a half of full time work for one update means that either they've been working on something gargantuan, or they're lazy cunts. One or the other. If it's a regular sized update then that would be disgusting

Coming in the blogpost from Tommorrow or someday soon:
Introducing the new competitive system!
"Since the beginning of the update, which we are sorry to say we still dont have a date for, we've thought; What is a good way to improve the competitive mode? Would it be large scale weapon re-balancing? Class limitation? A bunch of map overhauls? A new system all together?
Thankfully, we threw all those crap answers out and came up with a even better answer: A bunch of numbers. All dedicated, with the help of our best programmers, adopted kids, and potted plants just to tell you how inadequately bad you actually are!"
and then a bunch of useless stats and then we get 40+ days of nothing again.
what if it's taking so long because they've been working on the halloween update at the same time
that's like deciding to paint your house while it's still on fire
this update is already long, long overdue. why would they be working on the next thing when they aren't even done with this one yet?
valve needs to adopt an actual corporate structure and fire people who aren't getting shit done, because this is fucking ridiculous
what if it's taking so long because they've been working on the halloween update at the same time
Yes, lets split the the 5 or 6 programmers into two teams so that both updates would take a lot more time.
Also, you're implying that we'll have anything special for Halloween beside a compilation of the gamemodes from the last couple of years.
what if it's taking so long because they've been working on the halloween update at the same time
Why work on halloween, an update that is recently repackaged older updates with "new" features, rather than a new update where the community is going ape shit over
that's like deciding to paint your house while it's still on fire
I love this quote more than I should.
what if it's taking so long because they've been working on the halloween update at the same time
If they cared about having a good halloween, they wouldn't have rehashed last year's event.
Nearly a year and a half of full time work for one update means that either they've been working on something gargantuan, or they're lazy cunts. One or the other. If it's a regular sized update then that would be disgusting
I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they're making a big update, but not a huge one, and maybe they are just thinking way too much on each detail and re-revising everything too many times because they want it to be "perfect."
At least, I just hope they're being perfectionists and that's slowing them down.
I love this quote more than I should.
First time seeing that quote and i just shat myself laughing. but that sums up the blog
...A quality they have literally never shown in the past

it has to be because of the short. didn't expiration date take them 3 or so years to complete?
edit: plus, i'm sure they had more people on the team back then. assuming the short is still going to be around 5 minutes, it's definitely what's causing the delay
it has to be because of the short. didn't expiration date take them 3 or so years to complete?
That sound about right. About 5 minutes are completed a year, so if its been a year since MYM, and the new short is going to be 5 minutes long.....
That means the new short will be "Meet the Dalokohs Bar"!
I don't know what you all have heard or think about valve and the TF team, but if you think these so called "map rumors" or "multi day content levels" are real, then you've been intentionally bamboozled.
There IS no pyro update yet. It's not even finished.
By the TF team attempting to avoid the problem of a half baked update like MyM, it's become blatantly clear that they've created themselves the opposite problem- where they've created far too much work for themselves at once and spent far too much time stockpiling changes and details, overwhelming the already underfunded and small team they have to the point where its mid-September, and the game is in exactly the same broken state as it was last fall.

We are rapidly approaching the event horizon of the tf team's best efforts not being able to overcome the bitterness and expectations of having to wait so long for it. The content has to match the time spent developing it in order for this not to be MyM 2 in the eyes of most people, at the very least.
And the longer this drags on, the less likely that seems.
Refusal to accept this is what's gotten us into this mess. We need the TF team to come clean about all this and have us help them work towards a solution, or else be treated to more nothing until it releases at some godforsaken date.
