I think we'll see Slasher make it into the game this year.
Honestly they can just accept Slasher and I’d be satisfied with this year’s Scream Fortress.
Did valve move offices yet?
good god im getting sick of reading the same "lol update ded xd vavle sux" posts in this thread, I hope the update comes out just to stop those types of posts
At least they contribute to the thread, unlike some people. Trust me, they want to stop posting emotional rants too, because they yearn for this update just as much if not more so than you do.
I think we'll see Slasher make it into the game this year.
I remember complaining about how Slasher probably wont make it in and how big of a shame it's timing was and then see a post below saying the Pyro Update on smissmas will make up for it To think that an entire year has passed is still kinda surreal

I haven't played a lot in the past year, but I'm really interested in everyone's opinion on the matchmaking changes of MyM, now that a good deal of time has passed and Valve have tried multiple tweaks and additions to Casual over the past year or so. Even though I was among the people rooting for a major change to Valve servers that would include something like skill/rank-based matchmaking even outside Competitive mode, or at least separate server 'skill tiers' that players could choose between, I personally didn't expect them to completely cut the 'drop in, drop out at your leisure' nature of TF2 pubs that players have been used to since release, even before Valve servers were a thing. The feeling I get is that they've made a major, fundamental change to how players get into servers and how each pub game 'flows' waaaaay too late into the game's life, and they've also introduced a half-baked and barely functional form of non-skill-based matchmaking in Casual that's just worse and way more rudimental than most other successful modern shooters and multiplayer titles in general. They've made some improvements, granted, but the thing still has many flaws and issues compared to how robust, simple and reliable Quickplay was at providing players with a convenient way of almost instantly finding and joining populated servers on a wide variety of maps and modes, even the less popular ones. Now, it seems like you generally have to wait longer between games (especially outside the EU or North America), finding games of Mannpower/Pass Time/Alternative gamemodes that aren't DeGroot is way slower and almost impossible, there's no real way of spending a good deal of time on a particular server since no one ever votes to stay together and you just get booted back to the MM lobby after every round, there's the annoying downtimes when you join a server and need to wait for others to connect, leavers often still aren't quickly replaced and you get woefully imbalanced playercounts or servers that just die out fast, map votes are poorly integrated and I preferred the automated map rotation that made sure even less popular maps saw some action, it's impossible to kick or spectate potential hackers now, an improvement of autobalance was probably a way better option than just outright removing it since people apparently have no honor when it comes to (not) wanting to mix up teams or piggybacking on clear cheaters... All of that while still not really being able to match people of similar skill together, so Casual still pretty much suffers from the same issues that bothered me in Quickplay servers, minus the convenience and effortless and speedy joining and leaving of QP. And MyM didn't do a damn thing about rekindling quality community servers of old that aren't 24/7 2BadRushTowerBowlOrange, since the legacy server browser is now hidden even deeper in the main menu UI and it's pretty much clear the TF2 Team have decided Valve servers are here to stay as the default, heavily favorized way of playing 'proper' TF2. TL, DR: Together with Competitive releasing in a terrible, unfinished state and being pretty much dead in the water 14 months later (I don't think it's ever making a comeback, honestly), I feel like the current Casual mode is generally worse than Quickplay before it, as it hasn't really fixed the flaws of the old system imo and managed to introduce a bunch of new ones, and it's generally made finding, joining, leaving, and staying in particular rounds of TF2 much more of a hassle than it was before. It also doesn't help that the TF2 team seems to tie all major systemic changes to major updates, so they haven't nearly done enough in the past year or so to try and salvage/improve the new system/features in a timely manner. Blizzard, no matter what you think of OW, would have made weekly changes and improvements on the system, based on player feedback, for months and months if needed. I also think the ''be grateful they're still updating a 10 year old game'' argument is questionable when they've decided to make major systemic changes to the game 9 years after its release and then sort of left a lot of the changes in a half-finished or flawed state... In hindsight, it might've been better to leave QP/MM largely how it used to be and tweak that instead of trying to forcefully 'modernize' it into a rather crappy matchmaking system like all of those fancy younger games....
Legit question, have any community member said anything about the """"""Upcoming"""""" update? Like usually at least like, three people have at least been given like, two words about what's going to happen with the game, like have seen something.
there's no real way of spending a good deal of time on a particular server since no one ever votes to stay together and you just get booted back to the MM lobby after every round,
This is straight up false, when did you last play tf2? They changed how this worked like 9 months ago. All matches automatically vote for a map then go to it, regardless of how populated the new match is. In fact this is a problem, because now servers end up empty because of the people leaving between rounds. It should be a combination of the two systems, where lowly populated servers get booted back to queue if they aren't filled to some threshold before setup time starts.
Edit: counter-strike.net doesn't seem to have any problems, and dota.com too. What the f*ck?
Why censor the word fuck?
The main website is working again. I was really hoping it meant something big was on the way soon.
Why censor the word fuck?
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I just though Facepunch is pretty civilised, and this isn't a fast thread.
https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/70x0es/comment/dn72pfp Found this about the forbidden pop up for the TF2 website. Someone smarter than me explain if this means anything.
There are halloween maps slowly cropping up the workshop.Who knows maybe they might atleast add some maps from the workshop at the next halloween.
Theres going to be lots of submissions on those before halloween update hits us, if there is even to be one. I know many people who are making maps for it, and none of those are there yet. It's been a month since the Case System Update and tomorrow will be three freaking months since the balance changes post. Holy crap. It has been an eternity.
Man I really hope they change the crit a cola in a way that's different than what the balance changes post says, because their changes are just exacerbating the problem by getting rid of his vulnerability when it actually matters. The problem with that item isn't that the scout is too strong AFTER he oneshots somebody, it's that he's too strong before he oneshots somebody. Maybe it's easy to kill him after he kills your med, but at that point your medic is already dead. It's just a massive buff to the scout, with the only downside taking place after he has already accomplished his goal. It should be +30% damage taken penalty while under effects, with the damage buff. You could even re-add a speed buff (though the existing 25% is rather extreme), because as long as he's extra vulnerable to damage it's not so much of a problem.

EDIT: I hope it happens this month.
With the update being this close to Halloween, I wonder how the contracts will work once the campaign duration butts up against the Halloween update; assuming, that is, that Valve repeats the same format as the last few Halloweens. I forget; have we yet had a period where campaigns from two simultaneous updates were active?

We may end up getting the most watered down Halloween event we have ever had. The alternative is stalling the Pyro update to work on Halloween, and I don't see them doing that.
This is probably late, but the blog is back up it seems
New Bango Sheet
What's up with the upper-right box though? Like yes it's very clear Valve put way too much on their plate for the update, but it's not like they can just up and release it at any point now that they're nearing the end of their work on it. Like, what if the artpass on a map is 4/5 of the way done? You can't just ship a map with dev textures on one of the control points. Or like, you wouldn't want to ship untested weapon changes and end up with stuff like the enforcer, or launch an update page that's half plaintext. The point is that the problem isn't one of Valve withholding content at the end of their development work, it's one of poor planning months and months ago. There's no simple fix now of "valve should just release whatever unfinished stuff they have now" because that would make for a garbage update.

I'm not getting bingo at this guess rate. My bet is its delayed to smismass.
If that's actually the case, they could've just tell us and everybody would have been fine with this.
I mean I figured it was obvious. If the update was finished they would have released it, or will be releasing it today. If not, they're working on it. What do you think is going on? Do you think they've already finished it and are just jerking off on the potted plant all day?
How possible is this week?
How possible is this week?
As possible as any other. We have nothing to say it can or cannot be.
How possible is this week?
Nothing is going to happen this week. Although we are likely to get a small update. Tip of the hats is this weekend, and adding their medals is it's own little patch.
Nothing is going to happen this week.
There is absolutely no way of telling that apart from gut feeling - and the only info we got are vague hints at it being "soon"
