You think it would be but I'm having a lot of fun now doing everything else without worrying about S ranks (Plus I have the Raiden suit now). As horrible as the plot (and pay2do things fast) was the gameplay is super fun, especially when you're an invisible super fast cyborg ninja driving a tank.
Ok back to TF2, the problem I have with community servers is the only ones in Aus are 90% horrible trade/idle/24 hour 2fort garbage with a few custom gamemode servers (that are actually good imo) thrown in. The only "vanilla" servers are empty most of the time and it was like that even before meet your match, if anything mym has expanded the map pool for a lot of Aus TF2 players. I don't really see this situation changing after the update.
Also I live in West Aus and all the servers are in the Eastern Coast :saddowns: I've never played with a ping under 60 for years now.
I mean, core gameplay is fun but once you get used to it - it's skyrim, which i never bothered to finish. Even then, i can read up lore on that, which is interesting, and V doesn't even have finished story. It was disappointing at first, but now it just makes me sad to look at it in my library. Ground Zeroes was so promising, and all those hopes crashlanded into the mt. Konami.
TF2 in it's current state suffers from quite similar problem. Core gameplay is fun, but everything around it is broken/rough as sandpaper. And the story is unfinished :v:
Also could relate with server problem. The lowest ping i get is around 70, and that's for shitty 24/7 2fort or hightower servers. I can't even find any vanilla servers with adequate map rotation.
speaking as the local spy main mgsv is the most disappointing game in the series and mgs3 is still better
2 is better than both of 'em
Good to see a lot of love for 2, that's my favorite as well :v:.

lets keep things relivant to tf2 tho
Nah mate, MGS2 was the best one and if you disagree with me your wrong :)
mgs2's story and theming is god-tier, I'll give you that, but it comes at the expense of its gameplay.
mgs3 is like the mariana trench of single-player games in terms of all the things you can do, and it still has a superb, enjoyable story on top of it that you don't need to read 3 different essays to get a grasp of. mgs2 is the better exploration of meta-narrative, mgs3 is the better game.

I agree on that, 2's story is amazing but 3's gameplay is better, Your post just got me thinking, perhaps the reason why you think MGS5 was disappointing and why a lot of people think so to was that, like MGS2, no one really understood the games theme at the time till years later, and I believe that MGS5 will end up the same way, we look at it now with confusion but possibly praise it years later.

haha yeah tf2's story is great, way better than the first
haha yeah tf2's story is great, way better than the first
Sucks that TF2 ended on a cliffhanger
I agree on that, 2's story is amazing but 3's gameplay is better, Your post just got me thinking, perhaps the reason why you think MGS5 was disappointing and why a lot of people think so to was that, like MGS2, no one really understood the games theme at the time till years later, and I believe that MGS5 will end up the same way, we look at it now with confusion but possibly praise it years later.
Nah. MGSV is blatantly unfinished, has two mostly-empty "open worlds" and is stuffed with filler missions to pad for time. The only thing you could push with MGSV is that the reason we're disappointed is because it was meant to be a literal phantom pain for the players, but even then that doesn't explain all of the misleading advertising and remnants of cut content that indicated the game was meant to be so much more.
I recommend watching this video for a deep dive into MGSV and all that's wrong with it (which is a lot).

MGSV is not going to get MGS2's delayed appreciation, and it doesn't deserve it either.
on the subject of tf2, it's kind of sad how well the box trot actually works in pubs
it's extremely effective and changes gameplay enough to be banned in leagues, which is amazing
I always thought it was cool they managed to tie such a game like TFc that was devoid of any lore into TF2's lore. And they made the game's name make sense on top of it all as well.
TF2 lore in general is an incredible thing, and I'm so glad it exists. It's so outlandish but so, so entertaining.
The box trot is godly on payload maps where you can hide yourself next to the cart without being seen and watch as players stick to the cart not going anywhere, I shit you not I once did this on upward for 4 minutes and no one noticed

I usually combine it with DR on 2fort. When I get hit, run to intel room and hide behind the table with the box trot. Works almost all the time.

Gibusvision: Whose footprints are theese?
I wonder if it isn't out of the question that with this theoretical next round of Class Updates that we'll get some more indepth lore of each merc's backgrounds? Basically what I am asking is if we could possibly get a origin comic for the Pyro. Or maybe that's what the potential SFM could be about?
Do you actually think I thirst for this update simply because I'm starved for content? Some us want this update because the game isn't balanced, and a balanced game is a fun game. Crit-a-Cola isn't fun (for anyone that isn't using it). And you can thank those same hard-working developers for letting that disease fester for four years; oh, and let us not forget six years for the Atomizer, and nine for the Sandman! Yes, I fully believe the team should be accountable for mistakes they've neglected for years.
as mentioned before, balance changes have nothing to do with content nor are related to what i talked.
to act like "only a new weapon will make tf2 fun again" is exactly why shit like the panic attack, MYM, EOTL re a testament of rushed work for the sake of spoonfeeding content to either please masses and make a quick buck out of the playerbase. people is bettiong and already calling this "the biggest update ever" like we haven't been through this in the past only to bash everything just because their own expectatives were not fullfilled.
If you really think about it, TF2s world is actually a very terrifying place, it is a world where 2 men each control half of all governments in the world, which also means they most likely control all media shown to the public, have high tech bases all around the world with high tech (for the 60's) computers, (nuclear?) missile silos, satellites, a freakin moonbase, and an army of disposable mercenaries to do all the dirty work for them.

i don't know what kind of server has 0 sentry though

Dude, go outside, breath, no one's forcing you to be here. Chill.
While this might not be "the biggest update ever" they have said this update will be on par with the early class updates in terms of size, which were pretty sizeable mind you.
To prepare for the F2P update, I can see why they transitioned to official servers. Official servers can support any population boom and guides new players into The Team Fortress 2 Experience™.
The community server browser is a minefield of bad initial impressions. Excess file downloads, donator 'perks', malicious servers, non-gameplay servers, autoplaying ads -- anything that's going to leave a sour taste any player's mouth. This isn't what The TF2 Experience™ should be.
But to me, a solid community server is The TF2 Experience™. Pubs make an ideal social place to make friends, with the game being a great platform for it. So here's the question: is it possible to set something up where bad experience servers won't happen, and support the good experience servers?
It'd need to be a server that can be trusted to handle new players and get item drops. So far I've only come up with an 'official community server': a server hosted by Valve, but rented and run by the community. At minimum, server variables could be adjusted, moderators could be appointed to police the server, and map rotations could include workshop maps.
The only reason that Community Servers added all of these downloads was so that they could try to appeal to people with certain interests (hence the MLP servers) just so they could get some ad revenue to keep the server running.
Quick rundown:
>2007 - 2010: TF2 is released, only supply of servers are Community servers. These servers would be full constantly, so people would donate just so they have a garunteed spot on the server
>2011 - 2016: Quickplay added. Downward trend begins. Official servers pop up, so traffic is taken away from the Community. Servers begin to add Wacky Mods (TM) and outrageous donator perks to attract new players. Ads begin to appear.
>2016 - Present: Matchmaking is added. Small boom for community servers due to faulty MM system, but this recedes by the end of the summer. Community Servers are almost dead now, with little to no chance of revival.
i don't know what kind of server has 0 sentry though
If you're on defense it's less likely that the other team will have a sentry in the same area as the cart.
as mentioned before, balance changes have nothing to do with content nor are related to what i talked.

I understand your point, and agree that "new content" per se shouldn't be necessary to maintain the interest of players.
The box trot is godly on payload maps where you can hide yourself next to the cart without being seen and watch as players stick to the cart not going anywhere, I shit you not I once did this on upward for 4 minutes and no one noticed
I've tried to do that, but I've been unlucky enough to be caught - even when using subtle locations, or trying out locations I saw on YouTube videos where others had good results using those locations.
I hope that they're adding quality of life things, like the grenade launcher reflecting the loaded grenades and the revolvers chamber moving. These things honestly make or break a game for me, it's like an itch you can't scratch when the ejection port doesn't open, or the characters not actually pulling the trigger when firing a gun. Stuff like this would make TF2 more of a modern looking game, since that's what they seem to be going for.
considering it's been broken and unimplemented since launch, i highly doubt it's going to be fixed, let alone it being something that the tf2 team even has on their radar
You made this statement while conveniently cropping out the part of my quote which explains why. I can't even with you anymore.
They're not going to drop it in the middle of ToTH. It needs it's own patch for the medals, and its a major community event. Sure they've interrupted LANs in the past, but this is something different.
Its also the (largest?) TF2 update in (ever?). Everything points to them picking a week where nothing is happening community wise for a hype post then splash page.
A great TF2 Update would only boost TOTH - there is no reason at all why they'd choose to delay the Update for this event, especially with it starting this weekend, not wednesday or thursday.
So no, it could totally happen this week. If the argument as to why they wouldnt do that is "Its valvo, they don mak sens xD" then you dont have an argument. I'd go so far and say they are more things nodding towards a release this/next week than things against, like Mike expecting his work to be released very soon. That has nothing to do with "da blind optimism"
As for general trivia: This is the MyM Update on steam's new review system.

if we don't hear anything tomorrow I'm going to start seriously considering the idea that they're waiting until october 10th like fucking idiots
Anyone else hoarding their drops so they can make new weapons when the update hits? I'm gonna have so much scrap afterwards.
I've gotten one of every single weapon in the game from scrap.tf and I keep some extra metal in my bp to be super ready to craft ANY type of possible new weapon recipe when the update hits.
Anyone else hoarding their drops so they can make new weapons when the update hit? I'm gonna have so much scrap afterwards.
I'm super lazy about crafting my extra weapons so I probably have 10+ full pages of random weapon drops right now. I'm ready to go.
Anyone else hoarding their drops so they can make new weapons when the update hits? I'm gonna have so much scrap afterwards.
Keeping a copy of each Pyro weapon.
I do also have 800+ raw refined too though, so I have nothing to worry about.
plot twist: new pyro weapons are attainable through achievements but also uncrateable in strange/unusual quality in their own case
