Prepare for disappointment this week. I've been told by my spies at valve that the potted plant has overgrown the update button.
Maybe that's the real jungle update. The TF team bushwhacking the potted plant which has overgrown their long-unused workspaces.
But really, (and that means you, contra) don't expect anything beyond a ToTH medals patch. If I'm wrong, I will give contra a key for the trouble.

I'm wondering when will you say that you're expecting the update
at this point, I'm not expecting it before the 10th anniversary, and given what happened before, it's very well possible for it to be delayed till halloween ends
I'm thinking they need another blog post right about now. It doesn't need to be long or clever, just a nice short and to the point statement like this one made on the Dota2 blog. "We are still hard at work on it and don’t have an exact release date, but we are expecting it to take about another month to finish the content." That kind of statement would do a lot to appease the community.

I'm thinkin they need to release the update.

Plot twist: the new weapons are useless and degreaser reigns supreme

The unusual quality is most likely going with the unlocks (the non stock unlocks) but, I'm not too sure what's getting skins exactly.
Ugh, I wish the wiki could fixed. So broken still.
Took quite some effort to login and to load pages. Finally have my edit ready, but it won't post it due to session data being lost.

Pretty positive we reached the point where that's not acceptable anymore. It has been an entire month since the Case Blog Post and 3~ Weeks since they told Dane and his buds that they are "polishing the update." 3 Weeks of polishing...
Everything happening the last few days/weeks implies it's pretty finished/in it's final phases. If we don't get anything tonight, might aswell settle for the 10th Anniversary and snuggle some extra treats in there.
Then again that "lots of time before October" swirls through my head when saying that.
Then again that "lots of time before October" swirls through my head when saying that.
the actual quote is "plenty of time before HALLOWEEN." at the END of October.

Are you guys talking about ICS's email? I'm pretty sure he was told by Valve that an issue would be fixed for one of his maps with plenty of time before Halloween, not that the update would hit with plenty of time before Halloween or the fix would be included in the Pyro/Jungle update.
Contra is convinced something will happen tonight since he's banned since the same thing happened with the balance blog post. Lets hope his bad fortune is our good fortune.
would their be a blog post before the day before? Maybe today is that day.
I dont think so and i dont think Scream Fortress is cancelled. I already mentioned this part from the reply i received from valve regarding a bug:
"We’re currently heads-down working on the next update"
But i didn't show this, because it was irrelevant at the time but clearly it's coming out very soon. This is now from 3 weeks ago:
"...but we should be able to get to this after that ships (and plenty of time before Halloween)".
They said they'll get to fixing that bug after the Update ships and then assured they'll fix it plenty of time before Halloween.
So yeah, that's saying the Update will hit plenty of time before Halloween.
I never thought it would happen, but I actually had a dream about the pyro update.
In my dream I woke up to see a countdown to the pyro update on the blogpost. There was 6 hours left and blood started to rain in real life. That's all I have to share.

Makes you wonder what their definition of plenty of time is. They have about 6 weeks before Halloween when not taking into consideration time they will need after the update lands to manage any snags that will surely pop up.
Best case scenario it launches this week and they don't need to put much attention towards bug fixes. That leaves them with about 5 weeks to ready up for Halloween.
i still have the seven bisons i stockpiled to craft those sick laser weapons that are going to be released with the invasion update
I was thinking about something - other than the whole New Zealand thing I like that the TF2 "Bi-Annual" Comic actually brings Sniper back from the crazed-piss-throwing-jar-man edge.
Makes him a touch more like the Sniper we originally saw in Meet the Sniper.
I understand your point, and agree that "new content" per se shouldn't be necessary to maintain the interest of players.
Content exists in the game. There is so much so of it ecen falls into obscurity in favor of more popular stuff. While new content is always welcome, tf2 as it is already is is so full of it there's way too much yet to explore - to the point id dare to say id rather have small balancing patches that could be less time consuming over major updates any day.
If anything is to be hyped from this looming "major update" is the balance changes - not the new content.
Contrary of what people beleive, new content is not necessarily maps/hats/weapons. Valve could easily spice up game without inflating filesizes, ruining artstyle, and screwing balance, by introducing gameplay features. Tripwire did a cool thing by introducing weekly updates that would cycle one wacky gamemode like "exploding monsters" or "headshots only" - valve could do the same thing for usual play or MvM. Hell, they could write simple algorythm that would create sorta-balanced random waves and cycle MvM campaigns every week to keep that interesting. Core features are content too. Regardless of how horrible that was - mvm introduced hella lot of a contend by bringing in official competetive and casual, building specialized hud et cetera.
What i'm trying to say is that content in update has to be creative and cover all aspects of game. And if what we get is guns'n'hats + AMAZING COMMUNITY MAP - that's called artistic exhaustion.

too bad mvm gets stale after playing the same tour 300 times
too bad mvm gets stale after playing the same tour 300 times
Sure if you do a lot of tours in a row. I don't mind it when I'm switching between PvP and PvE. Also gets less stale when you don't follow the MvM meta.
Also I do a fun little gamemode when I'm with only one or two other friends of mine. Starting up a private game of MvM with sv_cheats on, and giving ourselves one of the mannpower upgrades with addcond and see how long we can last in advanced/expert.

I can't play any of the missions now without starting to nod off to sleep. Need new maps, and perhaps a system that generates waves randomly per map kind of like L4D or something.
Checking back here reminds me of my time playing TF2 on the 360 and hearing the players periodically say "Oh, we'll for sure get an update this fall".
Imagine those poor souls. Trapped forever in Hydro, their screams falling on deaf ears. Oh, we'll for sure get an update soon though.
This day will forever be remembered as the last chance we could actually get a "summer" update this year (not really)

I've been exploring ways to spice up MvM. Using the same formula of existing maps will feel like more of the same. The current formula often boils down to choosing the right chokepoint and maximizing your damage output, with waves of robots being designed to break that hold. MvM gets more interesting when that hold is broken.
I'm optimistic about my current approach, but it needs more refinement. The latest prototype ran into some major issues that I'm working out.

Call their team up, its not like they're super busy with anything.
Call their team up, its not like they're super busy with anything.
there is no "l4d team"
Does anybody know what the new "project" from that Valve Sound Designer is ?
Call their team up, its not like they're super busy with anything.
That hurt a little. Way back when, in between TF2 updates, I'd play L4D for hours on end.
Good times.

No, all we know is that it's going to be neato.
Balance changes - June 20
Changes to the case system - August 18
Pyro update - October 16?
It is reasonable to assume sometime in October, but that's depending on if they plan to do Scream Fortress this year,
Does anybody know what the new "project" from that Valve Sound Designer is ?
Almost 100% sure it's TF2. Mike composed almost all the music for TF2, Dota update is still a month away. So unless it's some seemingly random Steam ad, it's TF2.
