for enjoyment...
Well yeah, if you enjoy getting stabbed by Spies or bombed by Soldiers.
Just realised that Heavy doesn't have any class-specific domination lines. Why's that?
Because entire team is babies.
I can see listening to music while playing being nice if it's low volume, that way you could also hear game sounds. But I still never listen to music while I play games even on low volume, music can sometimes affect me in a bad way because I would probably rev jump on front of 6 people as heavy when Waka Flocka Flame - Hard in da Paint's Instrumental plays.
Is there something wrong with my game or are there no footstep noises for enemies or teammates in TF2?
headphones are essential if you wanna take advantage of stepsounds. if you use speakers, don't even try.
Just realised that Heavy doesn't have any class-specific domination lines. Why's that?
I guess heavy is just impersonal
I have headphones on, and upon closer inspection there are actually world footsteps, but they're very silent and I can just barely make them out when they're close to me in a completely silent room. I already have the volume up as loud as possible without it getting uncomfortable for me, so I guess I'm just fucked when it comes to step sounds. I wish there was a separate sound slider for footsteps.
I can't listen to music playing tf2, but I can easily while playing dota. And I basically require it when I play WoW, I think rhythms help with the repetitiveness but tf2 requires a lot of awareness.
When you're playing on a casual pub competent spies are few and far between. In that context listening to music isn't that much of a disadvantage unless you have zero situational awareness.
Just want to say, I've completely given up hope for the update to come out before October 10th. I feel like Valve has set that date as an internal deadline, since the significance of it (tenth anniversary of the game's launch) gives them a perfectly valid reason/excuse to have the update pushed back until then. I remember seeing people having the same prediction all the way back at July, and I found it entirely unrealistic. But now, those theorists just may have gotten the last laugh in the end.

It should make them a lot easier to hear, although it may become annoying in crowded areas.
October 10th. I feel like Valve has set that date as an internal deadline
This is nonsense and I don't see how anybody has manged to convince themselves of it. Valve has never before delayed a major update to coincide with TF2's birthday (manniversary marked the year anniversary of the mann co store and barely had any gameplay content anyway) and after a year and a half it would be braindead stupid of them to do it now.
Is there something wrong with my game or are there no footstep noises for enemies or teammates in TF2?
The "essential" sounds might need a bit of re-working. (Footsteps, sentry beeps, spy cloaks...) For a while now there has been some kind of latency related bug with the spy cloak sound. I've not been able to represent the issue with some nice technical jargon to back it up, but I've noticed time and time again that players with a huge difference in latency will sometimes fail to emit these essential sounds. Cloak being the biggest culprit thus far. I've had a 150~ ping player de-cloak in front of me with absolutely no sound emitted. I've also come accross a few cheaters that have the ability to exploit this issue and force the no sound in addition to instant "cloak/non-cloak" statuses allowing them to stab you from behind despite you being fully aware there is a spy nearby. I'm curious if anyone has done an in depth analysis of the sounds in the game similar to the depth sigsev explores ai/physics.
Just realised that Heavy doesn't have any class-specific domination lines. Why's that?
I don't think Medic has any either
I don't think Medic has any either
The medic is also the one class that doesn't kill people regularly.
Does Valve even really acknowledge TF2's birthday.
Something makes me think that Ikes is going to start sweating soon.
Is there something wrong with my game or are there no footstep noises for enemies or teammates in TF2?
Well, technically there are footstep sounds, but they are so quiet that they drown in soundscape - intentionally the most quiet sound. Funny that in valve's other game, CS, or even HLDM, footsteps are much more useful.
The "essential" sounds might need a bit of re-working. Although i doubt that they will be brave enough to tweak core mechanic and competent enough to make quality of life update for a change.
The medic is also the one class that doesn't kill people regularly.
Domination's from assists are a thing
you can hear an engineer crying for a sapper from battlement to battlement in 2fort.
you can hear an engineer crying for a sapper from battlement to battlement in 2fort.
What does this mean exactly? Elaborate please?
What does this mean exactly? Elaborate please?
engineer is loud boy
If the update does come out Oct 10th then I have a hard time still believing we will get a Halloween update followed shortly after. Whatever the update contains will be what we get for the remainder of the year.
engineer is loud boy
loud boy? i think that goes to sniper. every time a sniper gets headshot, i cry. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
Oct 10 is sounding more and more plausible.
Oct 10 is sounding more and more plausible.
I don't want to believe
Happy update-free summer, everyone! Here, have a Toxx.
Whatever happens this next update I hope whatever kind of new music is added is killer. Although the Competitive results theme is really nice, the last addition of music that really wowed me was MvM's soundtrack. The Expiration Date stuff doesn't really fit the game either, save for the prom music. Halloween 2014's theme isn't too bad either now that I think about it.
With every passing day I can feel everyone in this thread dying on the inside.
I really do hope the update manages to come out tomorrow, if not then fug.
