Well maybe if Valve got off their asses and actually gave us an update as to what's going on, you know, like normal developers. They could solve so much of the community's frustration just with a simple blog post update. Not even "THE" update, just some info on what's going on. But nope.
I thought they said they are polishing the update, isn't that what's going on there?
Valve doesn't really owe us anything at all, but the lack of communication all the time has always felt extremely frustrating and a bit disrespectful. I try to keep my comments from sounding anything at all close to entitled, but my patience with Valve is finally diminishing.
To be fair, they did do the Weapons Balancing blog post - imagine how stir crazy and restless we'd be if we had nothing at all. (To clarify, I'm not defending the lack of communication, I'm just saying that it's good that they at least took the initiative to share some small amount of information in advance).
I thought they said they are polishing the update, isn't that what's going on there?
They've been *finishing up* for longer than the time between previous updates. That blog post was four months ago. Valve has either- A: somehow managed to beef away 450+ days making what Dave riller described as gun mettle 3, something that should have taken a fraction of that time (more likely), or B: have run into problems/are working on something more than what was talked about (less likely)
So I've been out of the loop with TF2 for a couple of years now. Is this Pyro update suffering a similar fate as Half-Life? By that I mean it was promised a long time ago, and now Valve has gone silent about it.
yeah, I remember when all valve servers had sv_cheats 1 enabled on them, it really killed creativity when they disabled it, all the prop spawning to protect the briefcase and nocliping to enemy's basement in 2fort, rip :v: (yeah, I know you meant sv_pure)
Shit, didn't even realize I said cheats my bad. It's fixed now.
Oh my god are they actually going to forget to advertises Tip of the Hats? Oh my god. That's beyond pathetic.
I'm going through a move, and don't even have a computer hooked up to the internet right now, the boxing ring pushed forward that theory that I've had for a few weeks. The most recent update talked about an old client, Jill started talking about the lack of quality in the code, a first for Valve as far as I know, and now all these assets are moved into S2. There is more work I need to do but I don't have a PC currently so I can't do it yet.
Decided to play some Serious Sam to improve my reaction and aim, and it blew me away. I didn't play it for a long time and already forgot that the engine from 2001 solves biggest problem i have with Team Fortress - projectile aiming. How? Dynamic effin crosshair that moves to where your projectile is going to hit instead of being glued to center of the screen! It's funny that TF2 is supposed to support sorta-dynamic crosshairs since those are in options (the animated ones that should resemble spread of weapon) but fails to do even that. I guess i can't comment on netcode being far more superior because honestly precision shooting and movement isn't as important there as it is in TF2, but the ability to run butter smooth with more than 2000 enemies (and far more entities) and look gorgeous in it's HD re-release gets TF2 out of the competition. It's sad to be fan of the game that outgrown it's own capabilities. A few more years and i think it will be purely social phenomena, losing most of it's value as game. Not that i'm saying that it's bad, but let's be honest - like a person, it's aging, and aging rapidly. So far it managed to be active but year ago it went very ill, and the chances of recovery are not the best ones.
Oh my god. That's beyond pathetic.
TF2 summed up
Hey guys remember when TF2 used to get summer updates?
Well, I said that if the update didn't come this or last week, I'd give away 10 ref and a bunch of craft hats to random users. I got a little more ref, and decided to split it randomly in 3 ref increments. To not spam images, I will just name off the winners: robotnik185: 3 ref SirWubbles: 3 ref admiralt: 3 ref EmilyVasquez: 3 ref Antary, Stroheim, Firetornado, Whomobile, Nebrassy, Karmal Kahn: Random craft hats, add me and take your pick. I can't add you, SirWubbles, if you could add me using the link under my name, that'd be great.
Like I think I'm having a stroke here, no one in the office thought to spend 1 minute of their day to make a post about a charity stream that uses their game that benefits children with cancer!?
My biggest problem with the whole thing is that, from at least Jill's perspective, we're being unreasonable for wanting any kind of communication. The whole borderline passive-aggressive window jumping gif thing suggests that Jill sees us as just a mass of stupidity and anger just for wanting ANY kind of communication. And the no-show for TotH is just rubbing salt into the wound.

The various wikis are buggy, the valve mailtool doesn't work, cheaters/toxic users are forming groups and running rampant with only a handful of community moderators that have little power beyond sending potentially-ignored reports, And, repair/updates to their various games themselves are being ignored in favor of what, exactly? Yet another VR demo in a row or some promised project that's stuck in development hell for years? And still managing to maintain their F rating on the better business bureau for customer service. And zero communication on top of that. Valve as a business is crumbling from within due to its anti-consumer management structure where employees simply roll their desks towards the money with no accountability for the other IPs or projects that are still making them profits. There's no need for a speculation video: this is reality for the steam user.

I tried not to draw too much attention to it, but now that you brought it up, you aren't wrong. Apparently we're a ravenous lot of capricious lunatics that will eat poor Valve employees alive. That's obviously hyperbolic, but it also highlights the dissonance between us and the developers--they still don't understand why we appear to act that way.
TF2 really is a homunculus of Valve in general, and I genuinely wonder if I would be as negative towards Valve had I not been a TF2 player. But seriously if you're going to act like a child when people ask for communication, especially after this wait, fuck you. Just straight up, fuck you.

Hey guy's, i feel like the pyro update is approaching this thread. :v: (User was permabanned for this post ("No alts for you NotTheBestGuy" - Kiwi))

(but I agree with you on the rest)
Even if Valve isn't gonna add those medals to TF2 I donated anyways. Even if we're disappointed, it doesn't mean some kids have to be too.
Now they're so late that even if they release next week, it'll be within 1 month of the Halloween update. I'm starting to question if they'll even bother adding community Halloween stuff at this point. How the fuck are they this late?
From the old MUS:
This make some degree of sense. Valve move offices in September. They get set up in time to release the Pyro/Jungle update in October. Late October. You know, instead of a Halloween event update. It'll be fine. We've done this before. If we're lucky, we'll get a new crate with an exclusive key before then. With a bunch of tiered cosmetics and the same unusual effects we've grown to love! Every unbox has the chance to be strange or unusual* or both! *"Hat" equip region only.
For the record this was supposed to be sarcasm, not a suggestion.
Extra! Extra! Man makes lighthearted mistake and is banned from website!
If he didn't want to be banned he should've added an escape clause or better yet not toxxed at all.

I don't believe in Source2, but if the update were to be planned for TF2s 10th birthday...

We back in this? Guess we have come a full circle.
We back in this? Guess we have come a full circle.
I didn't wanna do it but this is how it has been feeling lately. They are overdoing it massively, trying to get the "perfect" Update going. If we are going to pass the 10/10 without the Jungle Update already released/releasing, it will be, even though I hate this word, pretty pathetic.

Even though I'm one of the optimists in this thread, my optimism is a bit down. I hope that they will at least say something today, with the inevitable TotH post. Of why they're not posting the Saxxies and TotH blog posts, I have two theories: 1) They're really hands-down working on the Update, and they understand the interest in TF2 is a bit lower now. They want to release the Update and then tell the community about the Saxxies and TotH, which would mean they got to post something today even if they don't manage to ship the Update today. 2) Just Valve Time. They will post the TotH blog post today, and that's it. But if they won't even post anything today, I will be shocked.
