Ignored the thread for like a week, I come back, there is no pyro update but people expect a source2 port.
The fuck did i miss?
ValveNewsNetwork suddenly announces that he is convinced the update is delayed because TF2 is getting a Source 2 port. Everyone has a good laugh, because that's ridiculous. A few people disagree, though. Then a brand new account by the name of mastercoms makes a very informative post in favor of the port actually being a real thing. Source 2 port confirmed? Who knows - we're still ultimately all grasping at straws, and bored out of our fucking minds.
Apperantly, there's a community event 7-8th october celebrating 10 years of TF2, they had a small, brief talk about it on tip of the hats stream

File under: Victory, Pyrrhic.
When Valve makes no mention of TF2 and Source2 (with the possible exception of a lolnope.jpg) and the Pyro (not Pyrrhic) update continues to be delayed and Halloween is upon us, where are we then?
* More freshly warmed over Merasmissions.
* More ranks to the sodding gargoyle.
* The above will completely not work for the first 3+ days.
* Possibly some new (terribly balanced) community event maps.
* A new crate UH I MEAN case, with tiered cosmetics (assembled, seemingly at random, from Workshop submissions.)
* One of these new cosmetics will share the name with an item from 2011, causing much confusion on the SCM until Valve hastily renames it ...a week later.
* There will be something fantastically wrong with the item server for the first few hours as there has been with every event launch since Gun Mettle.
* The resulting glitch items will be the best economy relating thing about the update.
* 4 new unusual effects exclusive to the case/the event. At least one will be non-horrible.
* A new unusual taunt effect or two, and probaby some new -ifiers for the taunts that lack them.
* Heavy will get fucked over as he did last year when Valve forgets to add an -ifier for the Table Tantrum until the last two days of the event.
* No, I'm not bitter.
* Yes, I am completely bitter about what happened with the Proletariat Posedown.
* No double unusual unbox rate this year (which is a blessing in disguise.)
* Some gee whiz mechanic surrounding the possibility of a bonus item when unboxing.
* Possibly a return of Halloween spells, probably via the mechanic mentioned above. (The only good news.)
* Spells will not be tradable or marketable (because fuck you.)
* Balance changes remain "on hold" as the update continues to be delayed.
* Community servers continue twist in the wind as Valve offers no new way to funnel traffic to them apart form the server browser.
* Related to the above, a bug emerges that stops the new event maps from working for community servers/Mac clients/other random unfortunates.
* The above will be fixed ...four months later.
* No changes to Valve official Casual or Competitive modes.
* A lesser TF2 cheat gets detected by VAC, resulting in a tiny banwave.
* NullCore and Cathook remain completely undetected. Cheaters continue to dominate Valve servers as they queue in groups and are immune to kickvotes.
* A Valve employee make a vague statement about the the key sales numbers from this Halloween event not being as good as they had hoped and makes an elusion to TF2's future being questionable.
* Event ends, radio silence continues until Smissmass.
* A new case with an exclusive key, and a bunch of tiered cosmetics hastily grabbed off the workshop.
* The Festivizer now works on a handful of new weapons. That festive Brass Beast, Liberty Launcher and Shortstop no one wanted are now a thing.
* Gaben seen via satellite image, working on his new floating knife factory/speed shop/souse vide restaurant in the Bellevue harbor.
* Deadringer remains unnerfed.
* At least one FP user has had enough and goes an hero with an RL Toxx.
* Man, this got dark.
you people are setting yourselves up for disappointment. dont get mad at them when you get disappointed...
I'm already mad. It's the kind of mad that just sorta slowly builds over time due to frustration.
Would it really be so hard for them to say ANYTHING?
you people are setting yourselves up for disappointment. dont get mad at them when you get disappointed...
Why wouldn't we be? The longer they hold off on releasing this update, the greater the expectations will become--especially with such scant communication. That much is entirely their fault.
Even if they don't port TF2 to Source 2, I wouldn't mind if TF2 was ported to a newer version of the Source 1 engine or just received quality of life features from Source 2.
It wouldn't surprise me if the update was already complete or at least 90% done but something's blocking them from posting it. People always joke about the 'spaghetti code' but there's truth in that. Even a small update can lead to some bug that the team didn't even anticipate.
Who knows what's up unless Jill can take a minute or 2 to explain what's up.
a 2 month old account doing a toxx.
whoa, high stakes.
Sorry for not having an older acount?¿?¿
If they are porting to source 2, then it would have to be something they've been working on for a long time. They couldn't have just started after meet your match.
I'm less anxious for an update now than I was a couple of months ago, it's gonna take a while, and in totally okay with that, I could wait till Christmas, and still not be frustrated.
With the update releasing whenever I've busied myself with making a det jump map - I'm currently just doing detailing, but I'm really hoping the update doesn't change the physics of det jumping 'cus I've spent so much time on this and I don't want to change all the jumps lmao
Man I don't think we've ever had a dry spell this long after the announcement of an update on the way. I'm waiting for people to completely lose their gourds and start ritualistic sacrifices :v:
I had an interesting experience in competitive today... The other team had a hacker, so I thought we were screwed but it turns out that we had a hacker on our team as well. That's how infested competitive is with hackers, you get literally hacker vs hacker scenarios. I reported both, so let's hope something comes of it.

Early august I was zen, the update wasn't a big deal.
It's late september, I'm full blown jihad.
I just realized I still have Autumn 2013 Chests in my inventory. Now what the fuck am I supposed to do with these...
I just realized I still have Autumn 2013 Chests in my inventory. Now what the fuck am I supposed to do with these...
you keep them as a memory from the better times
At this rate I have to wonder if the TF2 are undermanned, or if they simply don't have the staff they need. I mean it really makes you wonder, doesn't it? Do these people have the manpower they need, or are they all just cake-filled chumps?

considering that TF2 is a free game, it isn't nearly as bad as CSGO is, few days ago I was playing and there was 2 cheaters right off the start, later on 2 others started cheating, then someone joined mid match and said "oohh hvh imma go toggle", poor man didn't toggle in time before the match ended
and that was a prime match too
They're not porting to Source 2; never ever. Not with that team size. Have we entered the stage of delusion?
They're not porting to Source 2; never ever. Not with that team size. Have we entered the stage of delusion?
VNN is back at it with his shenanigans.
I think the problem is that they're like a boat without wheels. They've got the vessel, but not the means to get there. Do you know what I mean? It's a metaffer.
They're not porting to Source 2; never ever. Not with that team size. Have we entered the stage of delusion?
Thing is, while I agree it is a bit far fetched to think we're getting Source 2, you also can't shit on people that might believe it.
I mean, you can't prove they're working on it, but you also can't really disprove it either.
Yes, I am completely bitter about what happened with the Proletariat Posedown.
What happened with the Proletariat Posedown, exactly?
Just came back from 5 days vacation and theres still no Pyro update.
Hmmm
What happened with the Proletariat Posedown, exactly?
they forgot it existed until the last day or two of the event (par for the course with heavy it seems), and then added an unusualifier for it
not a whole lot of unusual variants exist because it was really far too late for it being added to be significantly affected by the double unusual unbox rate like all other taunts
VNN is back at it with his shenanigans.
Its just a theory. just like pyro being an homosexual male or the blue spy being scout's mom.
What happened with the Proletariat Posedown, exactly?
During last year's Halloween event, Valve released taunt unusualifiers for every taunt in the game, including the non-tradable achievement Director's Vision and the already unusual Shred Alert. The one taunt they missed was Heavy's (at the time) only single-class taunt, the Proletariat Posedown. This taunt is near and dear to my heart, because I have 900+ hours being slow and fat, and it was made by a friend of mine. I actually have unique version of the taunt signed by him.
Valve did not notice their oversight until the last few days of the halloween event, so in spite of the double unbox rate, there are precious few unusual Posedowns compared to every other taunt that can be unusual. Normally Heavy-only unusuals are cheap compared to other classes because "lol, no one plays Heavy." The Posedown stands in stark contrast to this rule. What I was alluding to in my post is that during the next update, Valve will manage to forget to make an -ifier for the other Heavy taunt. The Table Tantrum (and it's $200 non-tradable counterart) which is both constant and quiet, making it ideal for an unusual taunt.
Its just a theory. just like pyro being an homosexual male or the blue spy being scout's mom.
Man that takes me back when everyone was clinging onto that flowery purse on Pyro's shelf as evidence.
Something is terribly wrong with my TF2. I've taken a break and have been playing other shooters, just came back to Team Fortress and something feels off about my mouse. Anyone know what it could be?

It might just be because you have been paying other games. As much as I enjoy TF2, coming back to it after playing other shooters makes it feel clunky and inaccurate. Lately landing hitscan shots in TF2 feels like flipping a coin. I feel like I have to shoot where people aren't instead of where they are.
