the game itself was relased after nine years of development. sure, if you want to judge the game and the people that have worked on it (past and present) based exclusively on the last two years, out of ten, go ahead.
Yeah, what kind of fucking moron would base their expectations of a games future based on their current working development team rather than the ones from 8 years ago who aren't working on it.
Soon, the entire TF2 office will be overtaken. Then, the other teams. Then the entire world.
That's why they adopted Team Crabwalk Rocketjump Fortress. They knew their time was short, and they needed an heiress to fight off the potted plants.
Apparently valve is moving right now; removed the big ol' medal sign Source: None, currently. Need Conformation.
How can you confirm something with no source?
I saw some folk on reddit and twitter claim this, but none provided a source - that's why I have no credible source and ask for conformation.
The Potted Plant is slowly but surely turning Jill into another plant. Soon, the entire TF2 office will be overtaken. Then, the other teams. Then the entire world.
That's it. Thats the Jungle Update.
http://www.valvetime.net/threads/valves-moving-to-a-new-much-larger-office.256815/ Well valvetime does say it was in "September" so its entirely plausible that they're in the process of moving. valve are going to have 9 floors lol
this one is my favorite: I really like the heavy design and the two spy designs
So were those pieces of concept art just for kicks, or was the team seriously considering alternative female mercs?
It sounds like he's going insane
He's playing on Goldrush, can you blame him?
we NEED to ask Ellen McLain to voice her. pretty please.
Or Ed Asner.
So were those pieces of concept art just for kicks, or was the team seriously considering alternative female mercs? Maybe this is something that may be included in the update, hence the absurd wait time?
When were these concepts conceived? Near the beginnings of the TF2 Project? Or were these very recently created? I wouldn't bank on them being added as that'd required more voice actors for hundreds of new voice lines, in addition to an entire new set of adjustments for items within the game. Would be cool, but terribly unrealistic with the level of devotion we've seen from valve thus far.
It sounds like he's going insane
I can relate, people ignoring your teleporter when you really need help at the exit end is the fucking worst.
Dark skinned Scout is a hottie. Would trade her for an annoying fly from boston any day. Even if she would be as annoying :v: Granny Demoman is what i miss in this life. No offense to our scottish friend, but she looks like she would make for far, far more interesting and unique character( though maybe as with administrator, i just have soft spot for older women) Curvy Medic and cook-type Heavy are cool too. Turtleneck spy with that free lock of hair is perfect. At any rate, theese are excellent concepts, and it makes me very sad to know that they won't get any traction, even in comics. Much love to Drew Wolf!
So were those pieces of concept art just for kicks, or was the team seriously considering alternative female mercs?
"hey drew you seem like you've got nothing to do, draw me some ermmmm.... tf2 mercs... except female? yeah, at least 2 designs per class" *yawns* "okay then"
"hey drew you seem like you've got nothing to do, draw me some ermmmm.... tf2 mercs... except female? yeah, at least 2 designs per class" *yawns* "okay then"
Many artists would do that for a portfolio
I... just realized something So the game turns 10 years old on a 10th of October, which is the 10th month. Are there any other 10's i am missing there?

-snip, ninja'd-
So were those pieces of concept art just for kicks, or was the team seriously considering alternative female mercs?
A long time ago, Robin told me that they could not make it work due to hit boxes not matching the models.
Also, these Female versions would be extremely hard to incorporate into the game. First they'd need to decide: "Nine extra classes, or just reskins you can choose on the Class selection screen?". Then, (If they make them an alternate skin/version of the original 9 classes) they'd need to remodel every cosmetic in the game to fit the model of the Females, as well as add custom voice lines, somehow incorporate them into the comics, etc. With a team of 16 people, with 5 being programmers, that'd take months, even YEARS to complete.
well, grandma demo is in the comics i believe so around that time i guess
If you mean Mrs. Tavish - she looks nothing like those concepts. Who does look like cigar chomping lady is TFC pyro.
Also, these Female versions would be extremely hard to incorporate into the game. But even if they were to somehow implement it, already bulging on seams engine would just fail under the load of double as minimum estimate amount of game assets. So it's nice thing to dream about, but totally, definetly, rebar reinforced concretely not happening
If I had the talent and the will power to bring these to life, i'd do so right away. that Demo lady is the best thing I've seen in a long shot.
A long time ago, Robin told me that they could not make it work due to hit boxes not matching the models.
Now that you mention it, I do remember hearing about the possibility of female mercs previously.
For those curious http://www.kritzkast.com/robinwalker
Kritzkast: Chemical Alia, the artist for whom the styling of the scout’s mother was attributed, has created alternative female characters for each of the classes. Will valve be making these official and including them in the game as choices for players? Robin Walker: We’ve seen Chemical Alia’s great models, but even with that work done there’s still a significant amount of work to do, and some design issues that we haven’t found good solutions for. Having multiple character models for a single class would have performance impacts due to increased memory requirements, production impacts in that new items have to fit onto both models, and content issues in that we’d need another set of voice acting. Finally, you have the issue of hit detection. If the two models don’t have identical hitboxes, there’ll be a competitive edge to picking one of them over the other. If they have identical hitboxes, you’re probably going to have issues in how well the visuals match the hitboxes in one of the models. In short, multiple models for player classes is something we’d love to do, but it’s not likely to happen in the near term.
My favorite is Granny Demo.
Damn, why good artists only upload itty bitty tiny pics of their art. Why can't we admire the details...
Only the 10th class we've been speculating about since forever.
It better be the guard dog or I'll FLIP
The art style is dead, I see no reason to pretend its still a driving factor now.
You're wrong, and you're a grotesquely ugly freak.
Here's a nice little read, not specifically about TF2 but imo sorta relevant.
