i mean
your shading looks like everything is made out of fondant
The concept get transmitted, I'm not an artist or any kind of "drawer".
If the texture coloring doesn't appear to be right, you can probably imagine how the folds would actually look like (since those are basics cloths)
The draw by itself isn't that bad to look at (by that I mean it's comprehensible), even if the folds/ shadows are maybe a bit too random.

This is still a thing, I guess.

i dont get when you say you're not an artist or a "drawer" but you have spent the last year or two drawing tf2 concept art and improving and asking for feedback, seems kinda bizarre to just turn around and say you're not an artist as soon as someone says your concept could use work...
saying "i get that x looks wrong but you can probably imagine" doesn't really do it for me, concept artist's entire job is to design something for the modeler to translate to 3d space, of course the modeler will probably change the design up to fit the 3d space better but just saying "im not an artist, the modeler will figure it out" seems like a lazy excuse to not take criticism

I do that as a past-time, and as you figured out, it's been arround 2 years.
I have been using that kind of shading during that long, it's a bit hard as you probably know, to put myself in question about using a new one (Since I personnaly sense it as a fine shading, and I'm probably wrong)
I highlighted that I wasn't artist not about the fact that people give me criticism (I do always take it and try to rework), but more about that I have came to a point where I probably can't do more progress.
Oh by the way, the main pirate coat was made before I started to use Bapaul's advices
(Which led me to that way of shading [T]http://i.imgur.com/nrkW3C5.png?1[/T], probably none much changes)

I know he's banned now but this is a completely self-destructive mindset. It's willingly placing a mental barrier on yourself and preventing improvement because every time his work gets criticized he locks up and rejects everything he hears. I hope nobody else thinks like this, you can use "I'm not a good artist" as a reason for your work being bad but it should never be an excuse to not try and improve

What should the band color and bobble color be? I can't for the life of me figure out what looks good.
Should the band/bobble be white? Red? Or a combination of white and red?

Personally, working in the indie comic industry, you should always strive to be better and better with everything you draw, even when you get noticed/published, you should continue to try to improve/experiment with drawing continuously rather than stagnate. It's really just part of the norm, and those who try to deviate from this path usually have the hardest time getting anything in or done. There are rare exceptions to this, but usually what follows them is not very pleasant...
Anyway, I'm still looking for someone to help me model some items for TF2 as I'm crap at 3D modeling/rigging/texturing without a tablet. My art is just a page or two back.

Better, but pick a light source and stick with it.
The reference model is lit from the front but a bit on the top-left, so his torso shouldn't be super dark on both sides, and definitely not at the top of his shoulders. You also shaded the arms in opposite directions.
It would be easier to learn shading if your reference picture had a light source that was more angled. Lighting something from the front is both ugly and hard to do in painting.
Thanks for the feedback
I will try to do my own light source (And probably think more about the light direction)
