Need some help. The texture wasn't made in 512x512, and we had to downscale it and it looks like this. I wanna try to downscale it without quality loss. Also, I wanna try to make the doors see through. Anyone know how to help? [t]http://i.imgur.com/UGGknq4.jpg[/t]
Might be worth showing your diffuse texture, the problem might be fixed by setting up your UVs differently.

Hello, I would like to make a taunt implementing a rabbit but I wonder if the rabbit would be too much bones for valve, anyone can answer my question please? Thank you.

I know the Emporium is mostly about item making and not about mods now but is there a mod somewhere that fixes the stock revolver's ejector rod not coming out when reloading? It's been like that since Valve converted the revolver to use the c_models system.

This can be unnoticeable in game if the viewing distance doesn't get too close but yeah you still are losing the quality... With that said here are a few ideas: 1)Like Dutchman said: rearranging your UVs could help. More specifically you have the parts of your UVs that you want more detailed be larger in in you texture so it has more pixels. But you say that isn't an option. 2) I found that for anything icon and writing wise in textures I try to make it a Vector image on it's own layer or a smart object... You will still get the loss in quality due to just the simple fact that you still are taking 3/4ths of the pixels away, But the algorithms that work to scale the whole texture down seems to me more forgiving in making the image less muddy... 3) You could try to scale the texture down and then do some post work like unsharp mask and whatnot... You may be able to lake the image less blurry but still it's going to be lesser quality Also Play around with the scaling options and pick the option you like best. 4) Get something that is decent enough and then if the item makes it, offer an "HD texture mod" of your original texture size. Officially it'll be blurry but to folks who use the mod it'll look like you intended it. 5) As a combination of 1&2 I'd again stress that vector layers are nice and if you are working in 1024, from time to time you can scale the whole texture down to 512 and see if you icons and writing is legible... (Make sure to undo the scale after checking other wise you are going lose your HD texture!!!) But yeah if it doesn't look too good then yeah you need to have a bigger texture space to where the icon/writing is. So adjust accordingly... 6) The Source engine does a pretty harsh filter on your texture so expect your textures to look a little more blurry than what you see on your 512p texture. So Plan accordingly.

well that was a surprise; this thing got barely any ratings. Anyway thanks to those who did vote and congrats everyone who got something in this update!
IM SO FUCKING HAPPY
I predicted Valve would add this. But didn't expect it to actually be on X-mas.
Congrats to everyone :)
thankfully now people can stop telling me how much valve loves me and how i get something in every update not super miffed about getting nothing in since my engi hat was submitted so close to the update but why they chose a simple pair of reading classes over other actual christmasy items doesnt register with me

Don't belittle the accomplishments of others no matter how much you disagree with their additions. Sometimes weird choices are made but does that mean you can complain about others for getting added? No. Don't be a grinch, Ikes.
Is it looked down on to submit winter items post - update?
Its a weird feeling to be happy to get something in, but also be sad that its one of my lower rated items. Especially as my sniper jacket has like 3 times the votes and a much higher rating. And I really like the texture I did for The Frigadier. Not gonna complain though.

Being able to finally give back to a game they love. On a side note, I'm surprised that they grabbed a few items that were put up a few years ago, but that's a good thing tbh. If they always just grabbed a few items made each year a lot of stuff would get left in the dust.
I only wonder why are they adding so few items in the past years. 17. Okay, it is better for contributors but can't they add more crates if contributor shares from key sales are the problem?
