Think it goes without saying that I was rushed on it, so the small details like "boy it kinda looks like it was kicked down a flight of sandpaper stairs" got pushed to the side. Still, great job![/QUOTE] To elaborate further on this, pretend that you dropped the thing 1000 times. Where would the paint begin to come off? Another thing that you can put on is dirt/smudges. If you covered the thing in mud then hastily wiped it off, what crevices would still have mud stuck in them? The edge wear is supposed to tell a story. Pretend that your thing went on an adventure, and give it battle scars. It's not necessarily the principle of wearing off every single edge that makes it look good, but picking the right places to give it wear.

Actually, now that I think about it. I've always did wonder why they removed the detpack from the game to begin with. I guessed it had something to do with making destroyable objectives or walls not being an option for whatever reason. That, and they weren't really all that useful as weapons either. Mostly due to the loud noise that was heard from it when it was about to go off gave everyone more then enough time to get away from the weapon. Even with it's enormous blast radius that one shotted anyone stupid enough to stay near it. Did Valve ever establish why it was removed from TF2 out of curiosity?

I had actually made Hammer prefabs (pre-built sections of levels and/or I/O setups) that aimed to recreate the functionality of detpacks on certain maps like Classic's Well and Warpath, where you could blow open/seal off alternate routes. The simple explanation of how they work is that it's a CTF briefcase that explodes shortly after being captured. So in a way, yeah, that's what I'm trying to do, though on a user-made map basis, not game-wide.
