Not sure if it's just the area your in but the texture is super dark

It's a rubber tube, I assume the purpose of it is to help drain the water from the jacket when it's not needed or needs replacing.
It's on all examples of the hellriegel gun:

Main reason I included it was to give it a bit more of a unique silhouette, as you already have the cleaner's carbine which also has a bulky barrel.

Probably because it uses the Balloonicorn, which Valve has said in the past that they wouldn't accept on workshop submissions. Something about reserving the IP for Valve made content only..? Not really clear on it myself, other than the Balloonicorn is to be avoided when making stuff.
Someone else probably knows the details.

Well damnit, that really sucks when you put a lot of time and effort into something, and at the same time, you didn't know Valve restricted Balloonicorn Submissions.
I feel really bad now about this :(

Never ever feel bad about creating something. Worst case, it's good practice and experience, and it keeps your name visible in the workshop. Who knows, maybe reddit will take a shine to it and you'll get a lot of promotion on your other items from it.

I did make another smg a small while back while getting into things, but I felt that it was too similar to the cleaner's carbine.
My intention was a spy-like pistol converted into an SMG hybrid. If anyone wants to make it then it's up for grabs.

I feel that's different enough because the creator made it from scratch and it looks different. The Unusual effect uses the Ballonicorn's design to a tee, and someone could make a case for copyright on Valve IP for it.

It's a fun idea, so I hope you don't think I'm trying to start shit. It's just if you want any chance of this getting ingame it'll likely need some changes.

First things first, let's not all forget the Balloonibouncer as well, that was from the Workshop too.
But besides that, the only ones who could make a copyright claim on Valve IP would be Valve, and I don't know why they'd do that for something someone is offering to them to put into the same game as that IP. They don't disallow the use of the TF2 logo, class logos or class likenesses on items, after all.
Only reason I could think for them wanting to generally exclude the Balloonicorn is that they don't want to look like they're still even trying to actively support Pyroland.

Looking great so far, a little more details and this'll make an excellent addition to tf2 workshop. You might also want to add some bevel to the blade, it'll put some nice depth to it.

*edit* another tip would be to make the blade more flared and larger in general, since tf2 weps tend to have exaggregated proportions. For example, the blade of spy's butterfly knife is considerably wider than other similar blades
