But yeah, reload animations would be problematic and considering Valve isn't exactly going to add new animations just for one new weapon that has a specifically positioned magazine.
Forgive me for my ignorance but can't you just move the bone location and the animation will still function the only difference is he'll grab the boxer from the new location instead?

I was planning on adding tape at a few areas to make it look like he taped it to his mask, but I haven't decided on it yet.

Try to make it less intense of a texture.
