now that i'm sober that sleeve looks awful
It doesn't look much like a shirt, to be honest, it looks like he's wearing a jumpsuit. And the way you have to cover over his rolled up sleeves looks odd and bulky. Just keep them rolled up.
like this? except applied to both arms obv and the jumpsuit thing i agree with, but i think that can be attributed in some part to the lack of texture and overly shiny shading (aka being bad at drawing) and some to that weird sleeve i had going on

That would help a lot.
And that there's no normal mapping at all. That would help a lot.
I think it's just a paintover.
if you want to make it look more like a shirt instead of a jumpsuit, try un-tucking it [t]http://i.imgur.com/HToa7AK.png[/t] quick mock up I guess
And that there's no normal mapping at all. [t]http://www.country-cowboy.com/526-649-thickbox/men-s-retro-western-shirt-red-leaf-embroidery.jpg[/t] I think, to keep the colouring more consistent with the deafult Engie and (in my opinion) to make it look nicer, you should swap where the red shirt and brown overall colours are. To make it look more like a shirt, add some buttons and a seam where the sleeves meet the body of the shirt. If you want to make it look more exciting, you could try add some pockets or a very faint design on the upper sections like on the shirt I posted, something like the line pattern on the Engie's default overalls.

Thoughts on the animation?
Thoughts on the animation?
The legs dropping down seem to have no force, and the entire thing looks like it's just wobbling for that duration. Imo there should be less inactive time when the barrel shoots out, and the recoil from the barrel shooting out seems strange. It's very delayed, slow, and undetailed. Also, the animation for the wood panel that gets blown off is placeholder, right?
I know I've been super dead on here recently, need to get back to work on this. Anyone interested in texturing? [t]http://i.imgur.com/oQKKUer.png[/t]
Thoughts on the animation?
The animation style fits perfectly in context of Portal's demonstration videos.
Thoughts on the animation?
I love the way it rolls over itself at about 0:05, but the wobble/hop near the start just doesn't look right. It suddenly seems very stiff in its movements around 0:08, but I'm not sure if that's because it's intentional or simply unfinished.
good thing Completed the Tempest myself, the thumb is crap, the texture is crap and the bump is crap but at least it's more than just plain white
Not crap. I see much effort into this, not even I, could do it.
Thoughts on the animation?
Small request - When this is finished, release a model that could be used as a prop. Could be really cool as an air-drop thing after you capture a point in a Dustbowl/Gorge style map.
do yourself a favor, right click a viewport in sfm, render settings, depth of field and change it to 64 or above, then save the thumbnail again.
Thanks for the tip, i just got back into sfm after briefly trying it out in the distant past, and it was sheer luck i got the thumbnail look even that good
Kinda crummy Paint concept but I really fell in love with the Virus style on the Doc's Holiday shirt, I've always been a fan of more plain shirt designs like that, and after looking at some of the concept art for the Medic (in particular this one) I thought a turtleneck/sweater cosmetic would be really cool. The Metabolic Merc Iunno about this concept, but it's been something I've been sitting on for a few days and thought I'd post here for opinions. It's a hat-hair-glasses combo inspired by the character Bolt Crank from Eat-Man, who's a mercenary capable of eating inorganic objects (Mainly weapons) and be able to recreate it with his own body at will. I was also thinking of doing his trenchcoat, but I wanted to work on the head and just see whether or not this would be a doable concept, given that the source material's from a pretty obscure little series.
Thoughts on the animation?
I really love the motion of the whole turrent. The rollover really cool. Great job. However, there are some few point of improvement, which are essentials in animation. The few things that are lacking in the overall animation, is (1) asymmetry and (2) timing. (1) The opening of the box, as well as, the turrents legs are all coming to the ground simultaneously. Small asymmetrical motions makes the total animation more vidid. (2) Its kinda weird that the legs hit the ground slow, and then the whole turrent comes up. The maintaining interia doesn't add up. Its the same when the barrel ejects, there are not inertia effects. Another timing issue I have, is when the barrel comes out of the turrent. It feels a kinda slow, therefore, it is visually not interesting. A good rule of thumb, make large objects accelerate slow, while smaller object usually accelerate fast. This doesnt mean that large objects cant move fast, but the time it takes to move fast should be greater. Overall, great job!
