The new rugby games are here, so I figured I'd finally finish a concept idea I had quite a bit of time ago. Seen as that Sniper is a kiwi now, I thought this'd fit him a lot. Currently claimable! If you just want to work on one of the classes instead of the two, I'd be open to it.
Made upgrade for all class smismas hat! [t]http://i.imgur.com/6wwYMrM.png[/t] Claimable!!
How long until the next arms race?
The Arms Race #3 is postponed to next year, probably around February - if there is enough interest.
Just a question, how do alot of you more skilled item creators stay motivated to keep on doing items? I always find myself wanting to start and stop repeatedly till an item is finished
Skill has nothing to do with it. I'm not motivated to make items in general, I'm motivated to work on one project. Then I'll work on it for like 4 days straight or whatever. Just don't look at it like you have to do it, work on whatever you want.
Just a question, how do alot of you more skilled item creators stay motivated to keep on doing items? I always find myself wanting to start and stop repeatedly till an item is finished
usually i finish my stuff faster than I can lose motivation on it
Just a question, how do alot of you more skilled item creators stay motivated to keep on doing items? I always find myself wanting to start and stop repeatedly till an item is finished
The easiest way to kill your motivation is to think of a project as this HUGE PILE OF WORK lying ahead of you. It's like standing at the bottom of a mountain, looking at the peak, thinking "I will never get there". And it's quite natural to think of it this way because it's the truth - every project requires time and dedication to finish. Like getting to the peak of a mountain, it takes many little steps to achieve your goal. Now, how does that help to stay motivated? The trick is not to focus all of your attention on the peak but to focus on the next few little steps that lie ahead of you. Do a little bit here and there, change a few things... until you're bored again or have spent enough time for the day on the project. Move the thought of "getting it all done by day X" to the back of your head and change it to "get a little bit done by today". By doing so you will remove the pressure on yourself and when you look back at your goal from time to time you'll realize that it has come closer until you finally arrive. If you can't be bothered to work on something at all for the moment, then pick up something else, start something new or do something totally unrelated. You can always come back to the project later and then you'll realize that you already did some work on it which gives you a little boost in motivation. More than often forgetting about the project also boosts creativity because after a few days of absence you will see obvious improvements or new ideas that you didn't notice before. Once you're comfortable with the progress on one project try to focus on this one particular goal and just get it done. tl;dr Don't get overwhelmed by the size of a project. Don't focus on the deadline but direct your attention on the next few steps ahead of you.
The Arms Race #3 is postponed to next year, probably around February - if there is enough interest.
Could you do it straight after Christmas? as by then presumably Frontline!, Iron Gauntlet and Mayann will be wrapped up by then.
Could you do it straight after Christmas? as by then presumably Frontline!, Iron Gauntlet and Mayann will be wrapped up by then.
I imagine all of those will continue indefinitely until Valve picks any of them up. It's no longer done in the way of presenting a finished product to Valve and them buying it then and there, it's now more of a pitch that Valve picks up and sanctions, getting more community involvement en masse before shipping it.
the presentation, quality, and breadth of Frontline! practically guarantees it being picked up IMHO. the assets and promotional artwork in the collection are above and beyond even valve's own standards in many ways.
the presentation, quality, and breadth of Frontline! practically guarantees it being picked up IMHO. the assets and promotional artwork in the collection are above and beyond even valve's own standards in many ways.
Hopefully this is true, looks like a fun set of stuff at least.
I imagine all of those will continue indefinitely until Valve picks any of them up.
That's troubling to hear.
the presentation, quality, and breadth of Frontline! practically guarantees it being picked up IMHO. the assets and promotional artwork in the collection are above and beyond even valve's own standards in many ways.
Sadly, I gotta disagree. I love Frontline, and my only gripe with it is that it doesn't fit in with the traditional TF style, but since that's down the gutter it's a non-issue for me. We have balloon animals at this point :P But Valve seems to be on a roll of putting in zero effort for quality updates lately when it comes to gameplay, and I feel that at this point even deciding between maps and cosmetics from this large collection is too much work for them.
That's troubling to hear.
What would the alternative be? I dont understand.
What would the alternative be? I dont understand.
What do you mean?
What do you mean?
A community update where the makers arbitrarily say "ITS DONE"...?
A community update where the makers arbitrarily say "ITS DONE"...?
Oh, That's easy! If we have a dozen projects running indefinitely then from the outside it looks like that the workshop community has stagnated.
Snip-O
Those are some good concepts, especially the demoman but you should adjust the solider coat because the fury doesn't match the neckline. [t]http://i.imgur.com/XgeOwGh.png[/t]

I didn't want to post about it yet, but I'll do it to prevent misunderstandings. Here is an item I was working on for some time: [t]http://i.imgur.com/5f9CwPM.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/JfQXWB6.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/nvZJtNh.jpg[/t] It is supposed to be a military poncho with a shoulder cape and holes for the arms. Basically, it is based on designs like these: [t]http://www.prokopovich.memorandum.ru/images/planchet022_1.jpg[/t][t]http://www.konversiya-2.ru/UserFiles/big/Plash-palatka%20(oficerskaja).jpg[/t] Note that this is only a test version; some things, like the cuffs, are already going to be changed. There are also some gimmicks, such as different styles of the collar and the cuffs, paintability and compatibilty with several other items, but I'll show them later.
