THIS IS NOT A WORKSHOP SUBMISSION. So I have textured half of this model I have been working on, and I need feedback on the texturing. First time texturing a mesh so it might look a bit bad. The purple parts are not textured. They also have their names listed whenever you load up their work, or see it on a webpage. It's all a healthy dose of credit where it's due when it comes to mapmakers.

From my perspective, the item in question can use some noise in both the diffuse and the spec mask to sell a "felt" feel. Add some slight variation in color to the hat, and potentially do a directional lightbake to increase contrast and focus on the top front of the item. Put a slight gradient on the fur's edges to make it stand out a bit more, and perhaps some stitching to its seams. Do this and the item can be improved from my perspective, but its entirely up to you.
it's just really flat though, it doesnt even have a particularly organic "cap" shape. it's a half dome, with an oddly flat brim, a fur trim around the brim that doesnt seem to serve any purpose being there, and a pom pom on top that is more characteristic of a beanie than a hat... the idea itself just doesnt seem to hold up on its own. what real-life hat is it even based on? what was the concept if there was one, so I can compare?
I think it looks pretty cute on the characters, not really worth bagging on them for.

I just find it weird that when I released my bauble beanie I was ragged on for a flat-ish texture, but this is effectively just AO and some base colors on a fairly flat model to begin with and it's getting pretty universal support? like I don't want to call out a bias here but it's kinda itching at me seeing this.

Helping others will in turn help yourself and your own ways of reacting to criticisms and feedback.
there's not a whole lot to say, honestly. I'm not even sure what it's supposed to convey as an item, what it ought to look like. it's such a bizarre and abstract item to begin with, I couldnt think of many ways to make it work. I guess a start would be to shape it more like a traditional cap, with a slightly more curved brim and a dome that actually conforms better to the wearer's head. it could do with more cloth-like texturing, perhaps with a subtle fabric texture (Dr. Aibaleet did this with our el paso poncho, for example) and a specular with a slight bit of noise to imitate roughness when hit by light. it also might be helpful to adjust the fur trim on the brim to cover the entire underside of the brim, as well as the inside of the hat. since it's a winter hat, it should be fur lined inside, nut just arbitrarily on the brim. it'd also look a lot cuter and cozier this way, methinks

Otherwise the model looks great.
