This looks like it would suit the jungle theme a lot more, to be honest.
Those markings remind me of hieroglyphs, do they spell anything important, or where they just scribbled up? Even the larger chunks of gold that stick out remind me of ancient pharaoh tombs!

Those are runes, which are norse.
I am no expert, but with some basic decoding using wikipedia it appears the three runes here [img]http://i.imgur.com/k2WJdPP.png[/img] spell out sky (or there abouts) so there is probably something hidden.
As I said, I am no expert, so it could be wrong on the translation.
