At least community servers are relevant again.
If only there were any in AU/NZ worth playing. I hope this promotes people hosting them but I don't see it happening very quickly.
I can't even get into the game because my download is stuck at 96% goddamit valve
My download was also stuck at 96% Change your download region and restart your computer.
I just want the servers to come back online vanilla tf2 is a nice part of the update but I really want to play matchmaking
2 hours and the servers are still down, jeez
At least community servers are relevant again.
By all the wrong reasons
One thing I don't understand about the update: They didn't update the voice codec. This makes literally no sense. CS:GO already has a better voice codec, why can't Valve just add it into TF2? The voice codec sounds like complete garbage.

Hey look, the "Multiple items on one character" Glitch is still alive. Just saw a Pyro with a Fire Axe sticking out of his chest while holding a Flame Thrower.
i found quickplay guys!
Anyone else noticed that the servers have "rip" in their tags? Rest In Piece indeed, quickplay... I have to admit that the fact you cannot choose a map you want to play anymore in "CASUAL" and that you get banned for leaving a "CASUAL" match is fucking stupid and I have honestly no idea who thought "Banning people for leaving a casual game? Good idea!"... This is a good healthy backlash though, if we didn't start bitching about it, Valve wouldn't change it. The more noise we make and the more bitching there is, the higher the chance Valve will notice people getting salty and revert some of the changes.
Looking at it now, Casual Play is a lot like...well, Overwatch. It obiviously has more options available in Casual Play because TF2 plays differently, has more history and its comp mode is younger, but overall the same things are here: no restrictions on game modes, exp meter that is separate than the one from comp. There's obivious issues however: - EXP meter looks and feels very similar to the one in Comp Mode, which doesn't help make the separation clear. Looking at Overwatch again, the two separate meters have different background colors, are calculated differently, and aren't on the same scale. This isn't that big of an issue once you get used to it, however... - ...What's the point of having an EXP meter? I mean sure it uses your skill level in comp to match you with players of the same level, once again Overwatch does that. But what it also does is give you rewards for each level you earn. It seems really pointless to have an EXP meter in casual play to me. - Payload Race being in Alternative game mode doesn't really sit right with me ( http://i.imgur.com/y7iD7MX.png ). Same goes for one shot game modes being thrown in the same category, that means you can't select which one of those game modes you want to play anymore. Robot Destruction may end up here should it ever come out. - You can't select which game mode to play anymore, the games uses a "check box" feature instead. Which means you have to check and uncheck stuff everytime you wanna play a specific game mode. It does allow you to set what you want to play precisely though, so that's debatable. - Obiviously not being able to drop in and out at anytime. I'm gonna be real annoying and mention Overwatch again, but that game is constantly using 6vs6 which arguably makes it even more team based than TF2, and I can still drop out of Quick Play games if I want to. Not to mention, if you do leave, you don't get an EXP penalty (which I guess is somewhat understandable since it's pointless, see above), you actually get banned from playing for a while, even in Casual Play. What if I have to leave? What if I need to answer the phone?! Now the UI redesign looks really nice and feels like a definitive version of what it should be, and the EXP system is interesting, but they need to turn it into something useful besides "show off your skill".
It's amazing how split the community is. People wanted for community server to get more popular, but furiously want to get quickplay back, which was pretty bad for community servers. People hated auto-balance, but they also hate consequences of people leaving in order for auto-balance to not be a thing. Like, I understand that not everyone was like that. But that's what I see on facepunch. And I'm here everyday.
I have a feeling that it's either because b4nny didn't tell them about the situation or the TF team didn't care.
Okay, can we stop making b4nny the Jesus of tf2 and putting all the blame to him ?
There should be a way to display your team pride on the scoreboard where the campaign coins usually sit.
why are there limits on how many things you can exclude from your quick play search? what if you know you wanna play a/d but get put in 5cp
When I want casual play, I just want to jump into a map. I dont want to have to queue up or gain exp or any of this shit.
The Hype was a mistake.
Sometimes I just want to freely play casually, and be allowed to drop in and out. They removed that. You can still play community servers yes, but a Valve server has the best quality. No ads, no annoying text in the corner of the screen, and they run smoothly.
I'd honestly rather have a gun mettle 3.0 over making the whole game centered around competitive. It is just cartoony csgo now.
When I want casual play, I just want to jump into a map. I dont want to have to queue up or gain exp or any of this shit.
Use the legacy browser
I don't mind TF2 having a competitive aspect, but competitive being it's one and only aspect is a terrible idea as it was never made with this in mind.
The new rocket jumper model somehow being bad is the dumbest complaint ever, honestly.
Use the legacy browser
But why the downgrade is usability? The server browser is outdated and awful to use.
Maybe Merasmus took our item servers, and we have to play pass time and fix his TV to get them back.
Use the legacy browser
It's clogged with Comp/Casual Comp/Maintenance Valve servers and it will never be as busy as the Quickplay menu. Also, what if I want to play RD_Asteroid or Pass Time? Those don't have booming community servers
But why the downgrade is usability? The server browser is outdated and awful to use.
What? I always use it, just read the info in the mode and map and MAGIC, you enter the mode and map that you want
I can't even ask for modders to replace the jumpers models with the originals since Valve servers (90% of the servers) are using sv_pure. Fucking fantastic.
People don't want quickplay back, they want valve servers back.
Which is just proving my point.
