Oh looks like servers are down again :goodjob:
[editline]8th July 2016[/editline]
I havn't even got into a casual or comp game yet, if this was DOTA or CSGO people would be demanding blood.
I'm pretty sure when Diablo 3 launched they fixed the servers quicker.
[QUOTE=Dragadur;50671447]I may be late on this but it looks like even if you win a comp match, you're skill bar doesn't progress.[/QUOTE]
[del]it worked for me. i'm assuming it progresses your skill based on your performance in a match, so if you don't contribute to the team, you probably won't get anything out of it.[/del]
i played a competitive match a few hours ago though, so maybe something broke on valve's end again.
edit:
yeah it was most likely something that broke judging by the post below

Yep, just played a comp match and didn't get any exp.
It's not even showing up in the history.
This is what always happens. I remember Mann Vs Machine was the exact same way. Nobody could even play it for like a day after. Just wait.
I got into one server with people.

Let's just say... Matchmaking made it really special. (look at everyone's pings)
Also for whatever reason, in payload mode, blues have to capture only one point and then they win.
Did they even... play tested it? :v:
We should be requesting a day3 to fix all this crap, imo.
Your score might not be going up because the server keeps going down and it didn't record it, I guess that might be what's happening.
I'm guessing Valve didn't expect so many people to want TF2 matchmaking, it's fucking annoying in the short run but this could benefit the community in the long run if Valve reacts to this demand.
I have an idea. Why doesn't someone host a PASStime server and let's knock the TV Achievement out.
Comp is pretty fun, now that it works properly. Gotta work on my gamesense as Medic and also as every other class, though. The people I played with were pretty welcoming too.

During the matchmaking beta I only ever once was put on a server where I had under +200 ping, I live in Australia and was matched to fucking 400 ping Stockholm servers constantly.
I find it funny that it takes me more than 10 minutes to look for a casual server compared to the less than a minute of waiting for a mvm server...
Nice balance changes.
I expected something actually interesting, but it seems that they nerfed heavy again and buffed pyro.
"Listen to B4nny" they said, I was smart enough not to expect his promised new weapons.
But I didn't think they would fuck up the balance changes.
I feel like a lot of you people are making this out worse to be than it is.
While I agree the list of balancing is disappointingly small compared to other updates, the promise of a future class Update + some rather large changes to classes make up for it if you ask me.
Not only that, but Community Servers get getting traffic again! Alongside that, the TF2 Servers are a lot more streamlined now, which is good for your generic player.
I do want a few Valve Servers back, though - but you people really are overexaggerating with how "bad" the update is.

It's nice that community servers are getting noticed again but we were promised cake and got a supermart jamlog without the jam.

And when your generic player leaves games and ends up getting banned from casual they're more likely to stop playing than bother with the server browser which is an outdated mess. New players who have no idea what they are doing are hurt most by this update because the ease with which you could once join and leave games is now gone. Server browser sucks, is loaded with trade, vsh and prop hunt servers and is legitimately difficult to use for new players who don't know the full names of maps or how to filter out all of the garbage. If Valve's idea of helping community servers or appealing to casual players was to kill quickplay (which had community server options, mind you) completely and replace it with what is essentially Competitive but with 12 more players then it'd have been better for them to do nothing and to have made this update Gunmettle 3.0. At least if they had done that it'd have been more of the same and not had a massive impact on features and functions that have been in the game and unchanged for years.

We expected great changes and all we got was an "I.O.U" note.
Holy shit, its literally been 6 hours and I still can't get into a game. Did they really have to convert every last one of their servers to matchmaking? Couldn't they at least have some on reserve in the normal browser so we could play vanilla TF2 on launch day? Putting all their eggs in the game coordinator's basket is an enormous oversight that has absolutely ruined the update's launch day.
EDIT:
And my item server is STILL down
why do the games just...end? Why does it not put is into another round with all the same players?
I think the matchmaking servers just kinda keep crashing? Like they stop working and have to reset or something.
I haven't been able to switch any of my items, which is lame because the spaceflamethrower I'm using on Pyro is mediocre

Yeah at this point it's clear the TF2 GC is having some serious problems with this update and not properly matching people to servers. Hopefully Valve will fix whatever is wrong tomorrow and we can see how this system is when it works properly. The idea of having a 12 player competitive type of mode is something that's exciting for me so I personally hope they get it working.
Simple fixes:
Remove the stupid penalty for leaving casual, let people connect via ad-hoc and randomly fill in a spot, people don't care about loss/win in casual and that's why they play it
Change the map or make a vote on the next map when match ends in casual rather than kicking everyone
if valve won't add old pubs again, then make a quickplay for community servers that are registered, running a stock map, no instant respawn and not running custom gamemodes or let players choose what they want
So the recent hotfix meant to stop players crashing, is making me crash on startup. A+
Valve must be using Speak & Spells for their matchmaking servers.
Anyone want to guess how many patches TF2 will get on Friday?
I'm guessing 3. Also I'm guessing at least 1 on Saturday.
B4nny hyped this update, I didn't listen to him.
Jill said it was going to be neato, I listened.
Jill fucking lied.

Does anyone know if this is a glitch or not? I was able to put a Heavies Killed on my Patriot Peak. I mean, if it was a thing then does it count Heavy kills overall?

The hat's strange, so yes it's possible to put strange parts on it
just got back home, what's the first day consensus of the new update?
[QUOTE=HotrodMC;50671810]The hat's strange, so yes[/QUOTE]
It is a strange hat though, you cannot kill things with a hat. I guess it counts overall heavy kills then, thanks.
And nah, I did not mean "How did I put a strange part on this?" I meant "How is it possible to put a weapon strange part on this, shouldn't it only use cosmetic parts?"
[editline] 8th July 2016 [/editline]
Actually, no. It IS glitched, considering you can only put such a part on something that can deal damage. So, right now you can slap any strange part on a strange cosmetic and sell it for mad $$$ when it is fixed.
I am getting really unsure wheter or not this is true, someone help.
