There really isn't a casual mode anymore.
its just 12v12 matchmaking, theres a fucking stop watch mode on "casual" payload.
Can somebody summarise the class changes for me please?

Good, I waited for stopwatch in 12v12 for years.

I look at it more as Ranked and Unranked. Because that's basically what it is. Nothing is casual about not being able to leave without suffering a penalty and not being able to turn a "round" of Hightower into a 5 hour long death match.
What I find weird is that one of the main reasons people said highlander was unachievable was that matchmaking 18 players would be difficult and yet casual matches 24 players.
Reddit seems to be angry about the new casual mode too. At least we know that Valve listens to that cesspool, so something will probably happen soon enough.

Spy runs the same speed as medic
Flamethrowers cause enemy medics to heal less
Quick-Fix ubercharge rate reduced from +%25 to +%15
Quick-Fix's "Run faster than your patient" attribute is now present within ALL mediguns
Shortstop's alt fire pushes players. Its especially useful in MVM.
Teleporters now cost 50 metal instead of 125
Eureka effect is less shitty now and reduces teleporter build cost to 25.
There are more changes but these are the highlights of the patch in my opinion.

The Steam discussion board is mad as well.

That's what disappoints me because there's no highlander mode for comp.

Given how small the playerbase is, I hope Valve won't add 9v9 unless we get close to like half of the CS:GO player numbers which is really, really unlikely to happen.

steam forums are always mad

I'm glad that everyone seems to be universally angry. Every community I've checked on is unhappy with the new system, I can't remember ever seeing everyone be so unanimous. The more peopel complain and makes their voices heard on any platform, the more likely we will be to see change. Valve are going to have to respond to it.
With any luck, in their usual laziness, they'll just revert to the old system with the promise of revamping the new one, then never getting around to it.
waited on matchmaking for 10min just to get a 6v10 match with the enemy team having a hacker
this isn't cool
I don't understand why they'd go and make a new area for Quick Play just a few months ago for silly game modes, only to trash it...
This whole thing is weird. Like casual was just thrown in at the last minute.
They're trying out something new which has the added bonus of helping out community servers.
Ever since quickplay was introduced, most new players would just use that. They had little reason to check out community servers as Valve servers filled the same niche, excluding those oddball gamemodes like VSH and deathrun.
So people complained that a lot of the community servers were dying out thanks to quickplay. Now the TF team has made it so their servers fill a different niche, so players wanting what they had before have to go to community servers. Now people are complaining about lack of quickplay.
In short the TF team can't win. No matter what they do people will complain about it. I don't even know what the community wants, its so mixed and befuddled and all they seem to do is complain.
Hell, people complained about hats and skins detracting from the game in previous updates. Now I see people complaining about the lack of new hats and skins in this update.

Everyone isn't complaining, the people who are enjoying the update are just busy playing the game.
I'd be fine with the new system (except for the abandon penalty) if the populated community servers weren't total dogshit tbh

All they have to do to help community servers is regulate them more tightly (Which they already did, didn't they? Wasn't there something about registering servers to accounts and not having advertisements to make you eligible for Quickplay?) and have the quickplay setting default to selecting from both Valve and Communiy servers. The average player who makes up most of the Quickplay population probably just uses whatever the default settings are.

The reason Quick Play took over from community servers was because it was just better. TF2 had a problem with random pinion servers, junk donor benefits, instant respawn, and poor map rotation. These were real issues that Quick Play solved. As a bonus, the Quick Play menu was stream lined and easy to use and you could jump into a game in seconds.
I think the amount of people who complained about community servers dying were a minority. It's pretty clear by the massive backlash right now, that most players used and enjoyed Quick Play, quite a lot, as their primary method of play. I've been playing TF2 for almost 10 years now, and have witnessed countless updates, and this has to be one of the biggest backlashes I've seen.
found a matchmaking game
it matched me up with someone who couldnt load the game so everyone else got disconnected
epic, i see they havent fixed this
Toyko server,
I'm in Denmark,
great job matchmaking, you're doing great.
Are people really irate over losing their EZ mode Valve server finder?
Are people really irate over losing their EZ mode Valve server finder?
Who would have guessed people value convenience.
Are people really irate over losing their EZ mode Valve server finder?
i didn't really like quickplay but at least you could actually play a game with it
Are people really irate over losing their EZ mode Valve server finder?
Have you actually used the new matchmaking system?
Balance will be a lot better in Causal mode. However, I liked the ability to join and leave as I please. Now every time I play I need to make sure I have enough time to finish a match to avoid abandoning it.
Game is kinda unplayable for me atm because of the slow Servers, let's hope well get an Update rather sooner than later to fix this so I can, well, actually play.
Are people really irate over losing their EZ mode Valve server finder?
I think irate is too strong of a word, I would probably use the word unsated, game developers seem to believe that server browsers are a thing of the past, and should not exist in 2016.
Who would have guessed people value convenience.
Convenience at the expense of community, customizability, and maturity. It's soulless homogenization, all so you can be lazy and push a button. And that, to me, is the primary failing of contemporary matching systems today.
Yeah I'm okay with getting a 10 minute cooldown instead of playing for 11 minutes on 400 ping hell.
Why is this a thing again.
Convenience at the expense of community, customizablity, and maturity. It's soulless homogenization, all so you can be lazy and push a button.
People are doing the same thing as they were with Quickplay, now it just takes more time and is far less convenient. This isn't going to save Community servers, it just makes the process of finding a server to play on and staying on it worse.
