So was this update neato?
So was this update neato?
I finally got to play a koth casual match and I like the new system way better. Once queues are 15 seconds long and not 45 minutes I'm sure a lot of people will calm down.

Once queues are 15 seconds long and not 45 minutes I'm sure a lot of people will calm down.
The matter of grossly unbalanced teams and being left with a 6v12 match with 4 spies on each team is still left for us to muddle through with no clear solution I suppose wait times will naturally go down, but that doesn't fix the very basic problems that have plagued TF2 for a while but are now on full display and neon lit
Most of the problems people have had with this update aren't due to bugs, they're intentional decisions made by Valve.
Yeah, like features that people asked for for a very long time. And even then, features like shortstop pushing isn't something to throw a fit over.
Why is there not a "join game in progress" option in Casual, like in MvM?
Every update is the worst update to you people. Just because you tend to completely forget how other updates went. Bugs at the start of update will never go away, no matter how you want them to.
Hatless and Manniversary take top honors for worst updates ever, but every update I can remember all the way back to the Gold Rush update they had someone complaining about something. Which is good in my eyes, Valve can't please everyone and should never ever try to.
Looking at the schema (after being prompted by reddit to check) it would appear the Loch-n-Load has new sounds? These are new "sound_single_shot" "Weapon_LochnLoad.Single" "sound_burst" "Weapon_LochnLoad.SingleCrit"

Has more of a thump to it.
So to those that have yet to receive their Pass-Time Beta Pin, I bring you news!
LuckyLance Officer 46 minutes ago We are working with valve to ensure that anyone who should have gotten the pin gets the pin.
So every grenade launcher has unique sounds and a unique projectile (the LnL is close enough that I'll allow it to pass as unique) Fantastic! Demoman just has the ScotRes left as far as ranged weapons go for sounds.
Yeah, like features that people asked for for a very long time. And even then, features like shortstop pushing isn't something to throw a fit over.
It's possible for Valve to implement what people want, but in a very bad way.
can someone give me a summary on what happened with this update? it looks like a total shitshow so far and i don't want to go through 10+ pages
It's possible for Valve to implement what people want, but in a very bad way.
It's possible for every company. People keep acting like Valve is the worst company ever.
can someone give me a summary on what happened with this update? it looks like a total shitshow so far and i don't want to go through 10+ pages
go and read the patch notes
It's possible for every company. People keep acting like Valve is the worst company ever.
But only valve would make you wait 8 years for it, makes you wait in complete silence during it, and then fuck up the execution. I'm willing to be we wont hear anything from them about the complaints either.
Happy two year anniversary rd_asteroid!
can someone give me a summary on what happened with this update? it looks like a total shitshow so far and i don't want to go through 10+ pages
Things ain't that bad as they might sound. Honestly, the best summary that I can give is read the update page. It's pretty much summed up there. Some people are disappointed with the balance changes, and others riot to bring valve pubs back. And nothing worked when it released, server issues.
So was this update neato?
it will be when the servers work
can someone give me a summary on what happened with this update? it looks like a total shitshow so far and i don't want to go through 10+ pages
It takes half an hour to join a Valve server, you aren't allowed to choose the map, you have to choose from 2 game modes minimum, and if you leave, you aren't allowed to join another Valve server for half an hour. You have to join community servers to get the old Valve server experience now. Which would be okay, if Valve hadn't systematically killed them all over the last 3 years.

And that thing Jill said only proves that. They aren't going to say outright that they are sorry for the new update, but they probably do listen to feedback.
Look, I'm going to be completely honest here. Whenever people bad talk the new system, there's always one or two people defending it, or rating their posts dumb. Do you actually like the new system? Have you tried it? Do you think it's okay for casual gameplay? Because it took me half an hour just to join a server, hoping it would be a map that I like, hoping that I would be paired with good teammates. And I wasn't. As a Medic, I had to heal a Soldier who, despite owning a Hale's Own RL and an unusual, couldn't hit a single Pyro who was flaming him to death, and he blamed me for it. He said I pulled out my syringes and ignored him, when I kept healing him until he died. I couldn't leave this person. He was the only teammate who was remotely "dependable" and he is what I consider to be everything wrong with this game. If I wanted to keep playing on Valve servers, I would have to stay with this awful team for the next hour and suffer. Do you think this is an okay situation to be in for the most casual FPS on the market? This new system is awful in almost every respect, and I don't see how anyone can defend it.
Not sure if anyone else is noticing this, but it feels like getting into servers is a little bit more bearable for me. Takes 5-10 minutes now over the 20-40 minutes it did last night. It's a start I'll say... Had another fun match, although people dropped out on the enemy team side because we simply put steam rolled the first part. Putting them down by 4 people sadly. [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/264967316454110584/5C484F854C75FC7A3DB6F922A78D873044603C95/[/t] I'm not sure if Valve can actually fix this issue of people dropping. It's a community problem that's been plaguing all games for years and years... On the topic of traditional pub servers though, it might be good to invest sometime into looking into community servers if you want to do that though. I will say this, nice to see people actively playing the objective with no afk's, traders or friendlies plaguing the experience though...
Look, I'm going to be completely honest here. Whenever people bad talk the new system, there's always one or two people defending it, or rating their posts dumb. Why the fuck would they have a penalty for dodging casuals? Sounds stupid to me honestly (even as a league player)
i get the feeling that this update was too barebones im expecting a new cosmetic case (a la gun mettle) and some bugfixes to arrive later, maybe with or without asteroid and cactus canyon
can someone give me a summary on what happened with this update? it looks like a total shitshow so far and i don't want to go through 10+ pages
1.Competitive Matchmaking was added, with new rank images and small overhauls, it's P2P phone number assigned only or if you have no phone you have to pay 10$ once. 2.New maps were added - cp_sunshine; cp_metalworks; pl_swiftwork. 3.Pass Time was released. 4.New taunts and strange crates were added. 5.War between Heavy and Pyro were added, no enforcing on playing those classes though. 6.Casual mode was added in exchange for quickplay, it's 12v12, but with experience points, better ui, no team changing or auto balance. Now here is why everybody hates it: it penalizes for leaving during games and you have to check at least 2 gamemodes. There is also no vote system, so no way to kick people. And searching is like matchmaking and MvM. You can also create parties which is a big upside imo. But due to much stress, GC is freaking out and everyone on r/tf2 went "Fuck, it's so slow, fuck Valve". Most of issues probably is going to be fixed (game coordinator issues 100%, no penalty for leaving people, only no exp for 85% also with substitute system. Maybe they will introduce vote for kicking and choosing maps/gamemodes more specifically. No reason for all this rage IMO.

Waited 40 mins to join a passtime game. 1st round: Stalemate 2nd round: My team wins. 3rd round: Enemy team wins. 4th round: My team wins. Result: 40 mins of game, 50% of both team rage quited during the game. I earned 0 xp. Total: 1h and 20 mins. I had to wait 40 mins to leave without been banned from Casual.
