The reason that this WAR is so lackluster is because Valve didn't like how the original WAR turned the game into nothing but Demo vs. Soldier matches while it was running. That's pretty stupid though because what's the point of a WAR/Special Event if it doesn't change the gameplay?
Why the fuck would they have a penalty for dodging casuals? Sounds stupid to me honestly (even as a league player)
It sounds kind of wonky, but I feel they're trying to break the mentality of dropping out of games just because you don't want to deal with the situation? It sucks, but just leaving when things gets rough is bad for games as well technically. Not to mention leaving when things look grim also hinders in a sense ( at least IMO ) on getting better at the game. Which is why I believe we still see people do things like build nests outside of spawn room doors in KotH maps feeling they're accomplishing something. They want to change the mentality of "I don't want to deal with this" to "instead of giving up, I should look for a solution to this problem". I could be over exaggerating Valve and giving them too much credit. But it could improve the over all shape of the community down the line. If anything though, it's a positive push I guess towards community servers though if anything. Which people have been wanting since the inclusion of quick-play.
Is it only me, or games are practically only steamrolls for some reason? Idk, it always feels like the other team is full of newbies. Loch N load sounds kinda silly imo, like a potato launcher
Look, I'm going to be completely honest here. Whenever people bad talk the new system, there's always one or two people defending it, or rating their posts dumb. Do you actually like the new system? Have you tried it? Do you think it's okay for casual gameplay? Because it took me half an hour just to join a server, hoping it would be a map that I like, hoping that I would be paired with good teammates. And I wasn't. As a Medic, I had to heal a Soldier who, despite owning a Hale's Own RL and an unusual, couldn't hit a single Pyro who was flaming him to death, and he blamed me for it. He said I pulled out my syringes and ignored him, when I kept healing him until he died. I couldn't leave this person. He was the only teammate who was remotely "dependable" and he is what I consider to be everything wrong with this game. If I wanted to keep playing on Valve servers, I would have to stay with this awful team for the next hour and suffer. Do you think this is an okay situation to be in for the most casual FPS on the market? This new system is awful in almost every respect, and I don't see how anyone can defend it.
All of your complaints come off either technical problems and the general player base, once the servers are fixed matchmaking should only take a few seconds to find a game, and as time goes on the playerbase will get more accustomed to it As for community servers, yes, they were completely dead up until this point, but you also can't expect them to have an instant revival, it's the first day of the update, these things take time, and as time passes more and more servers will be brought up, just like when the game initially released.

Yes, even if those two classes might be in need of a rework I have no idea why valve would wage a "war" between two classes that have no real beef or similarities with each other.
Hey guys, at least community servers are relevant! Ha ha, ha...
I wonder if we will get better server browser, which I hope for. Reading stuff from the current one is annoying
I keep hearing the sound the Pomson makes when it drains uber/watches but I never see engineers around. Is there another weapon that shares those noises out of curiosity?
I keep hearing the sound the Pomson makes when it drains uber/watches but I never see engineers around. It is done.
1.Competitive Matchmaking was added, with new rank images and small overhauls, it's P2P phone number assigned only or if you have no phone you have to pay 10$ once. 2.New maps were added - cp_sunshine; cp_metalworks; pl_swiftwork. 3.Pass Time was released. 4.New taunts and strange crates were added. 5.War between Heavy and Pyro were added, no enforcing on playing those classes though. 6.Casual mode was added in exchange for quickplay, it's 12v12, but with experience points, better ui, no team changing or auto balance. Now here is why everybody hates it: it penalizes for leaving during games and you have to check at least 2 gamemodes. There is also no vote system, so no way to kick people. And searching is like matchmaking and MvM. You can also create parties which is a big upside imo. But due to much stress, GC is freaking out and everyone on r/tf2 went "Fuck, it's so slow, fuck Valve". Most of issues probably is going to be fixed (game coordinator issues 100%, no penalty for leaving people, only no exp for 85% also with substitute system. Maybe they will introduce vote for kicking and choosing maps/gamemodes more specifically. No reason for all this rage IMO.
where have they guaranteed they're going to fix any of these things not saying they won't, more like I see a parallel between our qualms about heavy "Jesus Christ they nerfed him again well there's no way they're keeping these nerfs haha right I mean they're objectively awful changes like the claidheam mor changes were" and "haha these multiplayer changes are awful there's no way they're keeping these right I mean they're objectively awful changes like punishing you for leaving casual matches" and yet somehow wow they're still here

I would like it to be different, of course, but I don't hate it, like most people here.
Hey guys, at least community servers are relevant! Ha ha, ha...
Use [do not include] tags?
Is this dead? Punchy pls I want this to happen
Is this dead? Punchy pls I want this to happen
Its most likely dead, lead creator decided to change the theme of the update throwing out most of the items submitted
Use [do not include] tags?
Then I have a tons of servers with 200+ ping or low player counts. I thought this update would bring me back into TF2 but I've learned from Overwatch that if I solo queue I'm gonna have a bad time, and I really don't like the pressure of competitive type stuff so having casual be the same thing but with more people as well as leaver penalties is just not my cup of tea.
Its most likely dead, lead creator decided to change the theme of the update throwing out most of the items submitted
I can tell you it is not dead, at least on our end, and we have not thrown anything out. Our old collection is still going to be pitched alongside the new one. Everything will reach valve if they choose to see it. It's all mostly in valve's court now. Also to clarify, we still haven't heard anything from them.

Sooo there's new voice lines for 6s, for every class except the medic? The most important class in 6s who is always in every 6s round no matter what? I mean they did PYRO lines, he's never in 6s and you can't even understand what he's saying.

Besides not being able to leave, I don't like how there's no way to replace any players that do decide to leave. Matches can easily become heavily stacked when 3 or 4 players choose to leave one team. I also don't like how you can't call votes anymore, you aren't able to kick idle or problem players from your own team. Finally, I don't like not being able to join games in progress anymore. I would typically join any friends who were on a server already on the spur of the moment, but now I'd have to plan a party in advance with them. Yeah, I suppose they're going to patch some of these things, aren't they? But it's a matter of when. This is Valve we're talking about.
I just finally got into a Casual match and it was fucking fun. It'd be a fantastic mode if they just got rid of the leaving penalty. People played well, did what they were supposed to, and it felt like a substantial game. Loved it. How come I didn't get any XP though? We won the game.
Basically, all I'm seeing that needs fixing about the new mode is to just add a "Join game in progress" check-box in the matchmaking menu
Has anybody figured out all the Casual levels and/or their associated medals?
It is done.
I thought Svetlana was the Huo Long Heater? It'd make more sense at least because свет or "svet" means light or something like that.
I thought Svetlana was the Huo Long Heater? It'd make more sense at least because свет or "svet" means light or something like that.
According to the comic, the huo long heater is Sheila
Basically, all I'm seeing that needs fixing about the new mode is to just add a "Join game in progress" check-box in the matchmaking menu
I sure do wish I could choose what maps I could play. And what modes I could play.
Why can't I go into third-person mode in Casual when I'm spectating someone as I respawn? Even CS:GO allows that
I wish I could play in general

I finally got a chance to try casual and played a few games. Games were fast paced, intense, and most importantly, fun! In one of the games our team was short 5 players on defending rounds but we held it down pretty well and eventually lost, but I really enjoyed the mic communication and teamwork. Kind of sucks that we cannot choose what maps to queue, but it could be a good thing to give less popular maps more exposure. I see many people here saying the update was a disappointment, but I thought was not bad.
I sure do wish I could choose what maps I could play. And what modes I could play.
Play like you did before quick play and use the server browser
